Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the overcast day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!
When I stepped outside this morning, everything was wet from the rain last evening, and it was still dark, because the sun doesn't come up early any more. I didn't even hear birds singing, so maybe they were sleeping late this morning, ;o)
Well, I watched the weather report on the news this morning, and beautiful, golden aspens were shown covering the mountains of Colorado. I saw the green aspens for the first time several years ago on a trip to Colorado. However, the trees at the Park are still very green except for the maples and they started turning red and golden a month or so ago.
The squirrels are busy gathering acorns for the winter, but they don't have to worry about storing them, because they are available here year round. I have even seen them dig up black acorns from the ground and eat them! To each his own! God is Awesome!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
How can I have hope when times are tough?
Hebrews 10:23 Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Our hope is rooted in God's integrity and faithfulness. When everything else falls apart we can cling to the fact that God keeps his word.
John 14:1 Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Our troubles do not surprise the Lord and should not surprise us. Trouble is rampant in this fallen world. Our focus should be on Jesus who has overcome this world and all its troubles.
Isaiah 26:3,4 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you; whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Psalm 130:7 O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord, there is unfailing love and an overflowing supply of salvation.
Psalm 146:5-10 Happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He is the one who keeps every promise forever, who gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts the burdens of those bent beneath their loads. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever. O Jerusalem, your God is King in every generation! Praise the Lord!
Our hope is rooted in the wonderful acts of God in creation and history, The Bible gives full testimony to the fact that God is able to deliver us from any and every circumstance. He will either get us out of it or bring us through it--for his glory and our joy.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Success
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!
I was really surprised when I stepped outside early this morning, to feel the wonderful cool air. Fall is definitely here! The oak trees have an abundance of acorns this year, and every time I see a squirrel, it has one in its mouth. They are always ready for a peanut treat, though, and sometimes I put crunchy peanut butter on the tree. It doesn't last long because the blue jays like it, too. They also steal the peanuts from the squirrels.
I have to admit though, even with their raucous screech, the blue jays are clever about opening the peanuts. They just pound the shell until it breaks and then eat the treat. God is Awesome!
When I drove through the Park yesterday, I noticed the mowing crew had been there, so everything looked very nice and trim. Very few people were there in the late afternoon, but due to a very sore foot and leg I did not try to walk. Sometimes getting old is no fun, other times, I really enjoy it! :o)
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Does God promise us success in this life?
1 Samuel 16:7 The Lord said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't make decisions the way you do! People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person's thoughts and intentions."
God's standards differ greatly from our own. Success is measured by faithfulness and fruitfulness not by results and quantities. We measure success in terms of appearances and externals, but the Lord looks on the heart. God measures success by weighing our devotion and commitment to him.
1 John 2:15-17 Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world. And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.
Success in this world can mean failure in God's eyes. While we live in this world, we are not to be controlled by this world's system of values. God promises that if we do his will, we will have true success.
2 Corinthians 3:4-5 We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.
Jesus followers know that real success comes only from the Lord.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

the Good Soil
Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful, cooler day that the lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside in the dark this morning, I could see Venus and some other stars, so the sky was clear and the air was cooler.
God is good!
I didn't get to take my walk yesterday, because of getting ready early for a Celebration of Life service for a long time friend. It was a beautiful, meaningful service with about four hundred people there. I can only hope kind words will be said about me at my final service. :o)
We drove through the park, and I noticed that the grass already needs mowing, so I guess it will wait for the mowing crew, but even though few people were there, it was still quiet and peaceful. My favorite place to be for peace. Many years ago, when our younger son left for another state, I was upset, so on a cold day, I bundled up and walked about a mile in the park, and met a friend from church out running in short shorts and a tank top! She said she wasn't cold because of the running! Anyway, the park holds many memories for me.
From Quiet Moments with God:
Ezekiel 17:8 It had been planted in good soil by abundant water so that it would produce branches , bear fruit and become a splendid vine.
An employee approached his employer and said, "I've had ten years of experience on this job, and I'm still making the same salary that I made when I started. It's time that I got a raise."
His boss retorted, "You haven't had ten years of experience. You've had one experience for ten years!"
Many of us feel that our lives could be described in the same way; one experience over and over again--or at best, boringly few experiences. When this is the pattern of our lives, we not only become depressed, but we also have no growth, just as a garden needs fertilizer and nutrients to enrich its soil, we need the enrichment of activities and experiences to broaden our lives and stimulate our souls.
Joseph Campbell once said, "I don't believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive."
How, then, may we enrich our lives? It must be intentional. Don't think that someone else can do it for you. There are multitudes of ways to get started:
.Take up a sport that you always wanted to play.
.Take your spouse or a friend out to dinner and the entertainment of your choice.
.Plan a trip to see something or someone interesting.
.Volunteer to do work that will help the less fortunate.
.Visit a friend that you haven't seen for a while.
.Get involved in a place of worship that challenges you.
Participate! Learn! Sing! Read! Listen! Give! Talk with your God! In experiences such as these, you will find the Source of all the excitement that you can handle.
EXPERIENCE IS THE MOTHER OF TRUTH, AND BY EXPERIENCE WE LEARN WISDOM.

Planning
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the damp day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, very early, I was surprised to feel sprinkles on my head, and then I noticed that everything was wet, so it looks like we had a gentle rain earlier. We needed it and more! God is good!
I went to the Park yesterday, but did not walk. I spent some time with Terry who was getting the last of his things packed up. He showed me a very old photo of guys that worked there twenty years ago, all of whom I knew...also a girl who didn't last long, before she moved to Mass. It was kind of painful, because Terry is a big man with a big laugh, and very friendly with all the patrons.
I noticed the restroom had not been cleaned..this was almost noon..and Terry said he guessed the roving cleaning crew had not been there. This is the way it will be from now on. Nobody is left at the park except Francia, the teacher. Sigh. Things change, not always for the better.
From the Promise Bible NLT:
How am I supposed to plan my life?
Proverbs 2:1-11 My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom. From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting them who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
A plan is only as good as the information upon which it is based. Our human intellect is limited and inadequate. Apart from the Lord, our plans are liable to fall. the Lord promises wisdom in those who rely on his word and depend on his Spirit.

What Shape Are You In?
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, all was dark, with not a sign of moon or stars. It was a little overcast, but now the sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful, fall, day.
Saturday was a cooler day, so I knew I had to take advantage of it and go walking, I was glad I did, because even though the babies were not visible under the shelter, Mama gator was, so the babies were around someplace.
I walked on to the big nest and no sign of Mama or babies, so they must be gone. As I passed an open space in the shrubbery, I looked across the canal and there was a very large gator sunning himself on the bank! He sorta looked like the big bull gator that was roaring the other day.
And, on the way out, there was another gator swimming up the canal. Squirrels and ibis, anhingas and herons, all were present and busy, so it was a wonderful way to start the day! God is good!
From Quiet Moments with God:
2 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV
Clay pots of all shapes and sizes were valuable tools in ancient households. Large jars were used to store water and olive oil; jugs were used to carry water; and small terra-cotta vials held perfume. Clay storage jars were filled with grain and other foods.Homemakers used clay pots for cooking. At mealtimes, shallow pottery bowls were used as platters and dishes. In the evening the homes were lit by clay lamps.
All these potters who supplied these much needed pots were inportant in the life of the villages.
A modern potter described her craft like this:
Both my hands shaped this pot. And, the place where it actually forms i a place of tension between the pressure applied from the outside and the pressure of the hand on the inside. That's the way my life has been. Sadness and death and misfortune and the love of friends and all the things that happened to me that I didn't even choose. All of that influenced my life. But, there are things I believe in about myself, my faith in God and the love of some friends that worked on the insides of me. My life, like this pot, is the result of what happened on the outside and what was going on inside of me. Life, like this pot, comes to be in places of tension
Through the day we may be buffeted by stress, pulled apart by responsibilities, and pressed by challenges that come at us from the outside. Without strength of spirit on the inside, those difficulties will cause us to collapse under the external pressure.
During this break, feed your spirit with Scripture . This will keep you strong, renewed, and restored within. You can respond with inneer strength and creativity in what could otherwise defeat you.
Remember, your inner life gives you the strength you need to become a useful vessel in the household of God.
Renew thyself
completely each day.
Do it again, and again
and forever again.

God's Creation
Good morning, dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is another beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Don't you just love this dry, cooler weather? When I stepped outside this morning, the crescent moon was hanging in the blue of the early morning sky and the breeze was quite cool. No sign of the froggie today.
Well, I have my van back and it looks like brand new! The body shop did an excellent job of repairing and painting and cleaning the headlight lenses! While the rental van was this year's model, I did not like it as well as my old one, but at least, I had transportation and I am grateful.
I enjoy my walk yesterday, and the visit with Terry and the two Marks. They were all in the building when I got there and Terry had a big 3 scrawled on his ID badge, for his remaining days. Yesterday was Mark G.'s last day. I will really miss all of them, since I have been walking at Sawgrass for twenty five years. Sigh.
I did not see any gators yesterday, but enjoyed the cool breeze and seeing a regular who moved away, He stopped to chat and then we both walked on...
From Quiet Moments with God for Teachers:
Be glad and rejoice for ever in that which I created.
Isaiah 65:RSV
What is it that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside? Certain smells, like the aroma of homemade bread right out of the oven or the cinnamony smell of hot apple cider, make you feel everything will be all right.
What about the whistling of a teakettle ready to brew a pot of your favorite tea? Or listening to a favorite recording of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"? When was the last time you sat outside to do nothing else but watch the sun set?
To Oscar Hammerstein, that warm, fuzzy everything-is-going- to- be-OK feeling came from "whiskers on kittens, and warm, woolen mittens." What are some of your favorite things?
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to be nonproductive and enjoy some of life's simple pleasures?
Logan Pearsall Smith wrote, " If you are losing your leisure, look out! You may be losing your soul.
When we don't take time for leisure or relaxation, when we give our discretionary time away to busyness and relentless activity, we are living in a way that says, "Everything depends upon me and my efforts."
Consequently , God prescribes a day of rest, the Sabbath, to enjoy His creation, to give us time to reflect and remember all He has done for us and all that He is . The Sabbath is time to remember God is God--and we're not!
The Sabbath doesn't have to be Sunday. You can take a Sabbath rest anytime you relax and turn yoour focus to God and His creation. Sometimes you have nothing better to do than relax. You may have something else to do, but you don't have anything better to do.
Relax and just enjoy God's creation. After all, He created it for you to enjoy.

Paul's Prayer
Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, I almost stepped on a large, fat frog, sitting on the welcome mat. He has a prime spot to get the bugs that fly around the outdoor light, but I stepped on a very large toad at a campground many years ago, and I don't care to repeat the experience.
Wow! I couldn't believe the coolness of the air this morning... almost chilly! I can hardly wait to get over to the Park and walk! I didn't see any babies anywhere yesterday, so they have disappeared someplace, but they may pop up at the tower when they get bigger. Just beyond the first covered shelter, though, I looked and saw a big gator's head... the rest of him or her was under the floating island. The sun was shining on the water, so it was clearly outlined. This was the same spot where the bull gator was doing his roaring, but I don't think it was the same one. This looked like a mama. God is Awesome!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Galatians 3:14-21
When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.
Amen.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.
Amen.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
