Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another beautiful day in the land of sunshine! When I stepped outside this morning, the wind was blowing quite strongly, but now all is calm. The garbage truck has already been by and the driver beeped because he lives with his Mom right next door. Last week he was not on this route and the trash did not get picked up until late in the afternoon. I didn't have my dumpster out, because it was empty. I don't generate much trash, usually.
I had a quiet day yesterday, just doing some ironing that had accumulated and reading some books from the library. I went to the park later and drove over the new speed bumps, which are not all that bad. It only took one day to install them. I don't know what the base is but the top is asphalt.
I watched an ibis pecking in the mud when I got to the park, and then a white egret looking for a tasty lunch. It was a quiet day with very few cars parked there. The elderberry bushes are in full bloom, with their lacy flowers. They are so pretty! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
1 Thessalonians 5:14-23
...Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else.
Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful , for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Keep away from every kind of evil.
Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until that day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
God, who calls you, is faithful; he will do this.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,

What's the Rush?
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another cloudy, sunny, breezy day in the string of good, hot weather we have been having. Good for picnicking, going to the beach or working outside...
I was on my way shopping yesterday and saw a woodstork at Lynch Lake. They are rare around here in the summer, but plentiful in the winter. And over at the park I saw an ibis close to the water, doing the usual pecking in the ground. They always have dirty beaks from grubbing. There were only a few cars in the parking lot, but school was not out, and I guess people were still working. The shadows were plentiful from the shade of the trees and the sun was bright, which made interesting contrasts.
Looks like another street is getting traffic bumps in the neighborhood. That's the short stretch of my street where I always used to use to avoid speed bumps on another street! Oh, well, just have to get used to slowing down for them. We could use some on the street in front of my house, since we have some speeders going by here daily. But, God is good!
From the devotional book, Quiet Moments with God for Teachers:
Be patient then, Brothers, until the Lord's coming,
James 5:7
Rush hour traffic. What comes to mind when you hear those words? Chances are they don't put a smile on your face, cause your heartbeat to slow, or drop your blood pressure to healthy levels. More likely they bring up images of exhaust smoke, angry drivers, brake lights, and those ever-popular "Detour" or "Lane Closed Ahead" signs.
Rush hour has become an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp. Too many cars have taken the rush out of rush hour. Despite the number of people working part-time, on late shifts, or at home, more cars seem to be on the road between 8:00 and 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M and 6:00 P.M. than there are people on the planet. And we all know there's absolutely nothing that can be done about it--unless you live in Thailand.
Proving that traffic cops have a sense of humor, an officer in Bangkok gave his men some rather unusual instructions. During morning rush hour at one of the worst spots in town, these traffic directors suddenly looked more like dance-troupe hopefuls than ticket-writing law enforcers.
Since the traffic wasn't going anywhere anyway, why not do some pirouettes or some break dancing? Why not smile at frustrated motorists? Why not lighten the mood (if not the load) on the road?
The result has been all they had hoped. The traffic is still tied up in knots, but people are more cheerful about their situation, and the cops are happier too.
Sometimes we feel pressed on all sides, and there seems to be no way out. Perhaps those around us keep turning up the heat, and we can sense we're getting closer and closer to the breaking point.
That's when we need to realize how far we've already come and that the rest of the journey will have bright moments if we'll only reach out for them. That's the time to laugh anyway and do a few pirouettes!
We must wait for God, long, meekly in the wind and wet. In the thunder and lightning.
In the cold and the dark. Wait, and he will come. He never comes to those who do not wait.

Isaiah 40:31
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This is another in the seemingly endless days of sun, clouds and humidity, but great for beach goers and people who work outside!
I was pleased to find gas at 3.41 a gal. at Walmart with my card, when I went out to fill the tank yesterday! Whoo-hoo! Nice surprise! They seem to be the lowest of anyone around. Before I drove to Walmart, I took a tour of Sawgrass and stopped to let a duckweed covered turtle hasten across the road. There wasn't any water the way he was headed, but he was in a hurry to get wherever it was. Directly behind him , on one of the posts around the weir, an anhinga was preening its feathers. Further on an egret was stretching its neck, looking for goodies in the shrubbery surrounding the water. There is always something going on! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you never heard or understood? Don't you know
that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all
the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can
measure the depths of his understanding. He gives
power to those who are tired and worn out: he
offers strength to the weak. Even youths will
become exhausted, and young men will give up.
But those who wait on the Lord will find new
strength. They will fly high on wings like
eagles. They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Morning Drive
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I saw the gorgeous sunrise this morning and now the sun is shining and a few clouds are drifting across the sky. It is a beautiful morning with a cool breeze!
I watched a very large blackbird taking a drink out of the bowl on the front porch wall yesterday. It seems to serve squirrels, a lot of bluejays and mockers. The creatures need water, also. When I was at the shopping center Saturday, I saw two ospreys sitting on the wire stretched across Turner's Creek. I know there are babies in the nest atop the light pole in the parking lot, and also, babies at Sawgrass Elem. School, so the pair could have come from either nest. looking for food for the family. I went to the park yesterday, and absorbed the quiet, noticing the long shadows and patches of sunlight streaming through the trees. The grass had been freshly mowed (I had seen the crew coming in Friday), so it looked fairly neat. A man on a motorized wheel chair was riding on the wrong side of the road, but he made it to the parking area and hopefully, he pulled over onto the sidewalk.
We heard an interesting sermon yesterday from Pastor Jim, about his early days at camp and how the possibility of hell was brought home to him, resulting in him deciding that he did not want to go there! It was an amusing story and told well. God is good!
From the devotional book Quiet Moments with God:
This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 NKJV
Judy could take the freeway to work each morning and arrive instantly, nerves revved, almost before she is awake. But freeways are ugly. Instead she takes the scenic route around several local lakes and starts her day with mental pictures of sunrises, flowers, and people in various states of running and walking.
Affluence and architecture notwithstanding, she feels that nature is the attraction--a chance for a city slicker to enjoy a little tranquillity. The slower pace gives her the occasion to see a small troop of deer or watch the ducks and geese depart for the winter and return for their spring nesting activities. She recognizes and studies the walkers and joggers who are out regularly at the crack of dawn.
"I don't know if I have a better workday because I sneak up on the job rather than race to it," she muses. "On some mornings I don't see one thing that nature has to offer because the day ahead refuses to wait for me to get there, and I spend the entire ride making lists of things to do in my head. But I do know that when I take the time to glance at the roses along the way, I feel more fortified, just like our mothers wanted us to be with a hearty breakfast. mittens, and hats."
Taking a few moments to thank God for the glories of creation will make any day start on a better note!

Worry Wednesday
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Blue skies, lots of clouds and a gentle wind, makes for a beautiful morning! The full moon is predicted to be the largest of the year, so I am hoping that I will be able to see it if the clouds do not interfere tonight.
The yard got all cleaned up yesterday afternoon when David got through fishing. It was hot, but a wind was blowing, so it wasn't too bad. He did a couple other things for me that needed doing, like cleaning the A/C filter, etc. The house needs washing, but I am thinking if I do that, I might as well get it power washed and painted. One thing after another, but God always provides the people I need!
I visited Chick-fil-a and bought a salad for my lunch, which was very good and big, so it lasted two meals! I also visited the park and was in time to see the teacher leading a large class on a tour of all the interesting sights the park has to offer. The kids were all in a row and seemed to be very well mannered. Sawgrass is a wonderful place to learn a lot about nature. I hope the field trips are not taken away by budget cuts. But God is good!
From Quiet Moments with God:
"Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Matthew 6:34 NKJV
Many people lose sleep by worrying. They lie awake in bed, wondering if they made a right decision the day before--if they did the wrong thing--and what they should do tomorrow.
Here's a creative way one woman handled worry. With so many things to worry about, she decided to set aside one day each week to worry. As worrying situations occurred, she wrote them down and put them in her worry box. Then, on worry Wednesday, she read through each worry. To her amazement, most of the things she had been disturbed about had already been taken care of in some way. Thus, she learned there was seldom a justifiable reason to worry. As the psalmist wrote in Psalm 127:2 NKJV It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."......As a child of God, you can rest in the knowledge that you are surrounded by a loving Father who cares for you. Jesus said, "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" (Matthew 6:26 NKJV) The same Creator who placed each star in the sky is watching over
you.

is the end of faith, and
the beginning of true
faith us the end of anxiety.

2 Corinthians 4
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sunshine today and the temps are supposed to be very close to ninety again, but I was standing outside for a few minutes earlier and the air felt nice and cool. The paper carrier was creative again and I had to pull the porch furniture away from the wall and reach to get the paper out from under a table. I really can't figure how it got there from just a throw.
Meanwhile, as I was looking around and enjoying the birds songs, I looked across the street, and saw a very large blackbird being harassed by two mockingbirds! The blackbird was on the driveway and the smaller birds were dive bombing him. I have seen that happen in flight, but not on the ground! The small birds are not afraid of anything, when it comes to their nests!
The mangoes on the tree next door are so heavy now, that they are hanging down, although they are still small in size. I am wondering how long they will stay attached with the wind blowing so strongly.
Yesterday I did some more returning and shopping, went to the library, and when I came home, discovered my cleaning crew already here. They had a bump in their schedule when the previous client had a dead battery or something in her garage door opener and they could not get in her house, so that made them much earlier coming to me. That was fine, but I had intended to wash my couple of breakfast dishes before they came, which they said was no problem..they would do it. But I washed them while they started in the back of the house. Now, if I only knew someone who would wash the outside of the house....
I went to the park later and saw the brown gopher tortoise just coming out of his home and looking over the situation. Not many people there late in the afternoon. but an egret was gathering lunch and the squirrels were scampering all over the place, as usual. It was peaceful and nice. God is good!
2 Corinthians 4:7
But this precious treasure--this light and power that now shine within us--is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down , but we get up again and keep going. Though suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.....
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at troubles we can see right now, rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 63
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Today is another sunny, windy day that God has given us, so we will be glad, but there was another wild fire in another county, which means we desperately need more rain. Hopefully, God will provide soon. (I had to pause for a minute to watch a big blue jay hop through the podacarpus hedge outside my window, pulling seeds off of it. The jay looked very fierce, as they do because of their markings.)
I had a shopping day yesterday, and then went to the park. After that I had a perm by Mari and enjoyed chat time with her. After that, it was almost time to go to a Mexican food birthday party for a dear friend. Lots of people, lots of food, and lots of talk! Great time.God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
O, God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you
My soul thirsts for you;
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory,
Your unfailing love is better to me than life itself;
How I praise you!
I will honor you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest of goods.
I will praise you with songs of joy.
I lie awake thinking of you,
meditating on you through the night.
I think how much you have helped me.
I sing for joy in the shadow of your protecting wings.
I follow close behind you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
