Abundance

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  This is also the last day of 2015, and the whole month has set a record for high temps for this time of year! I watched on the news, pics of the band from Tenn. playing on Clearwater beach. They are here for the Outback Bowl. But Sunday is supposed to be much cooler, so they may still get a taste of weather like that back home.

I went to the Library yesterday, and saw two Mormon missionaries taking a break, texting on their ipads or tablets. It is a good place to cool off and get a drink of cold water. They left about the same time I did, and as I got to my van, a large flock of ibis flew overhead and landed awkwardly on the lines, trying to balance as the lines blew in the wind. They were right over the young men's heads and I was hoping for no accidents!

They took off on their bikes and I headed for home, because by that time, the sun was low enough that my visor just barely kept it from shining in my eyes. As I drove around Lynch Lake , more ibis and ducks were gathered there taking a siesta. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Under what circumstances does God promise abundance to us?

Malachi  3:10-11
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so
there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the Lord Almighty, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have room enough to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Your crops will be
abundant for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not shrivel before they are ripe," says the Lord Almighty.

Philippians 4:19
This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious
riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
God's abundant provision is a gracious gift. When we give what God requires we receive more than we could ever desire.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love! And wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

More time

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have more wind, clouds and sun today and continued warm weather, but that should change this weekend.

I have to go for gas today because it is always so windy at the gas station, I do not want to wait for cold weather to gas up, because I will freeze! I stayed home yesterday and kept busy trying to catch up on things I had been putting off, such as ironing. I got it all done! Yay, me!

1 table runner
6 pairs of Capri pants
2 pairs of blue jeans
6 handmade place mats
but no partridge in a pear tree!

You have to sing the above and have a smile :o)

Anyway, I called the Sanitatiion Dept. to find out if the permission I received(for disabled pick up) applied to the garbage dumpster, also, and yes, it does. The garbage was picked up today instead of tomorrow, because of New Year's Eve, so I did not have anything in the can. I don't know if the driver stopped and came up to look or not, because I was in the shower, but I should know for sure next Monday. That is a good service the city has for disabled people. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How can I best use time?

Ephesians  5:15-20
Be careful how you live, not as fools, but as those
who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for
doing good in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly,
but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Don't be drunk with wine because that will ruin your life.
Instead, let the Holy  Spirit fill and control you. Then you
will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among
yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts. And
you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Time

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners !This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The wind has really picked up, so lots of leaves are falling and blowing. Mine get blown into the neighbor's year and then down the street, but many of them pile up on the front porch. While Daryl was here, he did some sweeping and kept it fairly clean. In spite of the wind, it is a very warm morning and promises to be another warm, dry day. But, cooler weather is expected this weekend, so, once again, I will be running the furnace for the second or third time this winter. From A/C to heat!

I am not making very good use of my time so far. I have to put clean sheets on the bed, but I got caught up in watching Kelly and Michael. They really seem to like each other and are so funny at times. It's fun to watch them work together.

Well, I got permission from the Sanitation Dept. to have the recycle bin picked up and put back by the driver, with a little symbol on the street in front of the house, but I did not think to ask about the garbage. Brian has been taking it down on Sunday, ant then usually my yard guys put it back by the garage, but they did not come yesterday and my neighbor did not bring it back, so I will call the sanitation dept. once again and see about having it picked up and brought back. It is a chore for me to pull it back and use my cane for balance.

Yesterday, I drove to the bank and passed Lynch Lake on the way. Large flocks of ibis, including two wood storks and Muscovy ducks were gathered on one side, and as I slowly rode by admiring them, one of the wood storks rose in flight. It was the first time I had seen one fly. Impressive wing span! However, instead of looking graceful, it looked awkward, but I was still impressed. God is good!

How can I best use time?

Psalm 90:12
Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11
There is a time for everything; a season for every activity
under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time
to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to rebuild. A time to cry and
a time to laugh. a time to grieve and a time to dance. A time
to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to keep
and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak up. A time to love and a
time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace. What do
people really get for all their hard work? I have thought about
this in connection with the various kinds of work God has given
people to do. God has made everything beautiful for its own time.
He has planned eternity in the human heart, but even so, people
cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
Valuing time begins with seeing it from God's perspective. When we do
this, we learn that there is always time for accomplishing God's plan
for our lives.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Wisdom

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

After the very warm Christmas, we continue with the high seventies and low eighties weather, but we really need rain, so maybe in the next few days, God will bless us with some.

I don't know about you all, but I still have decorations up, and the table set for our Christmas dinner, well, the place mats are still in place, but everything else is cleared off and put away. We had my sister and niece, and Brian and Daryl and me, and another niece in spirit, since she wanted to be here and contributed to the meal. We missed her!

Daryl made it back to TN in good time Saturday, leaving here at 6:30 AM and arriving there about 8 or 9 hours later. He said all the traffic was headed south, while he was headed north. He and Brian got to spend a lot of time together, shopping, while I stayed home, since they were shopping for me, and I don't get around too well any more.

Our Christmas Eve candlelight services were unique at the end. The pastor announced that each car would have a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts on the windshield, but not to be eaten by us. They were to be given away to people who had to work Christmas Eve and Christmas day! A lot of good stories came out of the giveaway and we heard some of them in church yesterday!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas worshiping our Savior's birth and here we are with a New year coming up. Who can hardly wait to see what God has in store for us next year?! God is so good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

What are the benefits of wisdom?

Proverbs 9:10
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding.

Proverbs 3:21-26
My child , don't lose sight of good planning and insight. Hang on to them, for they fill you with life and bring you honor and respect. They keep you safe on your way and keep your feet from stumbling. You can lie down without fear and enjoy pleasant dreams. You need not be afraid of disasters or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.

Wisdom produces honor in our lives and protects us from trouble. Wise people know the difference between right and wrong and choose to do what's right. More than that, wisdom is choosing to apply God's truth and principles to our daily relationships and situations.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, with Thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

The Story From Luke

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have wind, and overcast skies with bursts of sun today. We really need rain, but that probably will not come until the weekend when Daryl and Matthew are due to drive down from TN.

We had another good message from Pastor Kevin and the choir sounded great, also. Good music from the worship team, good preaching, and a crowd to appreciate and listen. I saw a lot of faces that I did not recognize, so it looks like new people are still coming. This is good!

As I was on my way home from shopping, Saturday, I saw an osprey fly directly in front of the van with something in its claws. It kept swooping and since there were no other cars on the street, I took my time looking at it. I think it was a mouse the osprey was holding. It disappeared from my sight as I drove along, but I was really trying to see its nest.
I also saw a tiny wren flitting in and out of a crape myrtle that had lost it leaves as mine has. I had not seen a wren in a long time. Guess they are staying up north longer since the weather is warm everywhere, except in the northwest!

This will be my last blog before Christmas. I have a lot to do this week, so I am wishing all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Luke 2:8-14
That night some shepherds were in the fields
outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep.
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them,
and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded
them. They were terribly frightened, but the angel
reassured them. "Don't be afraid!" he said. " I bring
you good news of great joy for everyone!" The Savior,--
yes, the Messiah, the Lord--has been born tonight
in Bethlehem, the city of David! And this is how you
will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a
manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!"
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others---
the armies of heaven praising God:
"Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to all whom God favors."

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

A Prayer of Praise

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! ,The sky is blue , the sun is shining, and the temp will be up to 81 soon, and it is just a couple weeks before Christmas! No one is dreaming of a white Christmas around here!

I think the plants are confused by the warm weather...flowers that are supposed to be dormant now, are still blooming, the azaleas are early, and my poinsettia on the front porch is still very green, instead of having red leaves. While lots of oak leaves are still falling, most of the trees are still full of leaves and the sycamore trees have shed only a few in the neighborhoods. We don't have any of those near here, I am happy to say, because their leaves are large and messy.

My cleaning team came yesterday, so I thought today should be Thurs. instead of Friday, because their regular day is Wed. But I am confused easily. I glanced through some pics taken in 1991 at the Devil's Millhopper, near Gainesville. That was back in the day when I was slender, and agile! There are over 200 steps down into a jungle like sinkhole that reminds me of North Carolina. Always cool and lots of greenery. Of course, going down is not all that hard, but it's the coming back up that is tough!. Sort of like mountain climbing! It was one of the fun weekend trips that Louis and I used to take. Ah, memories!

Well, it is time for me to get busy and try to get ready for Daryl and Matthew's coming next weekend! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Jude 24,25
And now, all glory to God, who is able to
keep you from stumbling, and who will bring
you into his glorious presence innocent of sin
and with great joy. All glory to him, who alone
is God our Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Yes, glory, majesty, power, and authority belong
to him, in the beginning, now and forevermore.
Amen.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! According to the weather report, we will be above average for the next seven days, but maybe it will turn cooler next weekend. And that's a big "Maybe"! Sun and cool breezes rule!

I saw an unusual sight on my drive yesterday. Coming down the neighborhood street toward me was and E Z Go cart like the ones in the park that have an open back for hauling stuff. It looked like a man in an UPS uniform was driving and the back was full of packages, which he was delivering.. To my knowledge, UPS doesn't use golf carts, but maybe this is something new...

I was on my way to CVS where I bought a lot of stuff I needed. It looks like their clinic is being made good use of, because there were several people waiting to get in to see the nurse, and I heard coughing. I made sure to steer clear of any sick people!

I was on my way to Subway, where I bought my favorite sandwich---a chicken teryacki (sp)
. I also stopped in at the park and stopped to watch a roseate spoonbill fluffing its feathers while perched on the weir. I was so pleased to see the pretty pink feathers close up God is good!.

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 145:1-7
I will praise you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
I will bless you every day,
and I will praise you forever.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
His greatness is beyond discovery!

Let each generation tell its children
of your mighty acts.
I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
Everyone will share the story of your
wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy of your righteousness.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is overcast but the sun is trying to peek through and the temp is predicted to be in the high seventies, so it will be another beautiful day in St. Petersburg.

I stayed busy most of the day yesterday,..got my laundry done and as I was taking towels out of the dryer, I heard the rumble of the recycle bin coming up from the curb. this time I caught Cheryl, my across the street friend, bringing my bin back. She is so thoughtful to do that! Some days are good walking/balance days for me and some not so good, but I was going to try to drag it up myself, so she saved me the trouble.

I got out later on and visited the park which had quite a lot of activity going on, with lots of people on the bridge, and others walking and pushing strollers, etc.. A man in a pick up was feeding the squirrels, who were sitting in a circle in the street, waiting for him to throw out food. This is a no-no, but people do it anyway. I even saw a woman feeding the alligators many years ago, but she denied it saying she was feeding the fish and could not help it if the gators ate it!

On the way back home, I saw a flock of seagulls and ibis at Lynch Lake with ducks resting under the clump of trees . God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 145:15-18
The Lord is faithful in all he says;
he is gracious in all he does.
The Lord helps the fallen
and lifts up those bent beneath their loads.
All eyes look to you for help:
you give them their food as they need it.
When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing...

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This is another perfect day as was yesterday, A little chilly for me because I am sitting and not getting my blood warmed up, but outside the sun is shining and the temp has warmed up to the low seventies. Very invigorating!

I have a lot to do today, including shopping, but first I have laundry to do. Brian came over to help me get more decorations out, and he also put the recycle bin at the curb. It was full this time.

Last night I was in the living room reading the paper, when I heard a loud "beep, beep.." it sounded like it was coming from the bedroom, so I got up and checked and all was quiet. I had had a happening with the computer a couple nights ago when it had the same loud beep and a full screen warning came on telling me to call an 888 number for tech help. I thought it was the same problem, but then I heard the same thing while having breakfast this morning. It turns out that it was the car across the street and the noise came from the alarm!  Maybe a child is playing with the keys...

I was on the road a lot for me yesterday, with stops at the library, the cleaners...dropping off my summer Amish quilt for its annual cleaning, and then back to the library to choose a few more books. As I was coming out a woman with two elementary children with her complimented me on my pink and black top. Unexpected things like that are day brighteners!

After leaving the library, I drove to the Park and saw lots of activity with the middle sized gopher  escaping into the underbrush and an anhinga on his favorite perch drying out the wings. On the way home, I passed Lynch Lake where a large flock of ibis was resting and ducks were taking a siesta. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 138:6-8
Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,
but he keeps his distance from the proud.
Though I am surrounded by troubles,
you will preserve me against the anger of my
enemies.
You will clench your fist against my angry enemies!
Your power will save me.
The Lord will work out his plans for my life---
for your faithful love , O Lord, endures forever.
Don't abandon me, for you made me.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  I was surprised to feel the cool air this morning when I arose...did not expect it. The weather is in the high sixties and the sky is blue with a few white clouds. Still dry, though,  and, once again, we will be in the fifties tomorrow morning, but warming up to the high seventies. Just perfect weather!

I heard a buzzing noise which I thought was coming from the fridge, while I was eating a bowl of oatmeal, but got up to check and found out my yard crew was here early. They just edged, blew off the leaves and left, but I was glad they blew all the leaves off the front porch. I'm sure they love this weather!

We had another good worship service yesterday. Seems the closer it gets to Christmas, the more people come, which is good!   I like the singing and am happy they are including the Christmas carols, now. Pastor Kevin had a very funny story about sliding down a snowy, icy hill in Minn. one winter with all the family, which led to his sermon about JOY!  I love the fact that his voice is loud and clear and I have no trouble understanding him.

I visited the Park Saturday and yesterday. Sat. there were very few people there, but yesterday it was a good crowd, because the weather was so good. A few visitors are showing up now, but still a lot of natives use the park. I saw the large gopher tortoise again and a large flock of ibis. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 15:13
(one of my favorite verses)
And I pray that the God who gives you hope
will keep you happy and full of peace as you
trust in him. May you overflow  with hope
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

The Lord's Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I got up I thought it was raining, everything was so dark, but it was just cloudy and soon the sun came out. Now, it is cool with temps only in the low seventies, and a cooler breeze blowing, so, to me, that means long sleeves.

Well, the Hallmark Christmas stories have been keeping me up beyond my usual bedtime, but last night, it was the Packers! What a nail biting ending to the game! Go Packers!

I did a little shopping yesterday and still forgot a couple things on my list, so will have to go out again today. ( I just took a break to watch a bluejay peeking in and out of the thick hedge outside my window. He is looking for berries, which are all gone.)

My dumpster was full of branches and trimmings that Rick had put in it, so after it was emptied I did not think I was up to dragging it back to its usual place, so it was sitting there when I left to shop, but when I got back it was put in its spot outside the garage. I called the "good fairy" who lives across the street, and thanked her for putting it back. She is so thoughtful to do that! Brian had told me to text him if I needed him to put it back. I am blessed with helpers.

I drove to the Park and noticed very few people there. I think they were all shopping because the parking lots I drove by, were pretty busy!  The canal was full and cool looking with the leaning oak trees shedding their leaves on their reflections, and the squirrels were running about, zipping up the trees. I saw an anhinga perched on a bush by the entrance lake just airing out his wings. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father in heaven,
May your name be honored.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done here on earth,
just as it is in heaven.
Give us our food for today,
and forgive us our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who
have sinned against us.
And don't let us yield to temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Amen

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Weary

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have clouds covering the sun once in awhile, but no rain as was predicted and, so far, no cool air. The temp is already up to 79, but should keep dropping during the day.

I had company inside and out yesterday. My cleaning ladies came at 1 and told me about a person going door to door asking for money. Kim thinks she is using the money for drugs, but that's just a guess. She has not come to my door, and, hopefully, will not. But it pays to be cautious.

About an hour after they left, Rick came and power washed the house, cleaned out the rain gutter, trimmed an oak tree out of the hedge, and then strung up the mismatching Christmas lights. He worked until almost dark, and was worth every penny!

I am so thankful and blessed to have people I can count on to do what needs to be done since I am unable to take care of these things any more ! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Who can help me when I grow weary?

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to those who are tired and worn out;
He offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become
exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who
wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high
on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Choose Joy

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have sun and breezes today, but a cold front is moving down from Tallahassee and the prediction is for some rain and cooler weather the rest of the week.

Well, since the house will be power washed today, seems fitting that it will rain tomorrow. Actually, we could use some rain, because we haven't had any for a week or two. My amaryllis plants are looking very healthy this year from all the rain we have had previously, so I hope that means some blooms later on.

I did a lot around the house yesterday, so did not get out. I washed sheets and towels, then finished one book and started another, which I will finish today. I also have to finish up the indoor decorating. Sigh. I just have to motivate myself to get moving!

I see the squirrels zipping up and down the oak trees out front and wish I had some of their energy. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

James 1:2
Dear Brothers and Sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be
and opportunity for joy.

Troubles remind us of two things; first, they remind us that this is a fallen world, full of futility and frustration. Second, they remind us to turn to a God who will never disappoint us. God promises lasting joy for all those who believe in him. This kind of joy stays with us despite our problems.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

How Can I be joyful in hard times?

Good Morning,, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  I watched the weather report on the rest of the country this morning, and saw lots of snow in Minn. Flooding in Tenn. and other states and generally miserable situations all over except Florida. Once again we have lots of sun, and gentle, cool breezes, which suits me just fine!

My yard men came late yesterday morning, as did the garbage man, who did not come until 4 in the afternoon. So, I had to drag the dumpster back up instead of the yard man doing it. But I managed to do it, using my cane as a prop. While I was doing that, I saw across the street, the neighbors putting up Christmas lights and decorating.

I called my handy man, Rick, once again to remind him of the work I have for him, including putting up the lights. He will power wash the house and get it spiffy looking for Christmas and do a little trimming, plus cleaning out the gutter. There is always something that needs to be done!

Earlier in the afternoon, I drove to the car wash and got the deluxe wax, wash and blow dry for the van, so it looks a lot better, after being sprinkled on from the rain in Dunnellon. Then I stopped at the park and saw some people admiring the large tortoise. The canal was serene and full and the trees are shedding their leaves, so the road was pretty much covered. It looks a lot like fall! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Habakkuk 3:17-18
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no
grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails and the fields lie empty and
barren; even though the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty, yet
I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.

Philippians 4:4,12
Always be full of joy in the Lord.I say it again---rejoice! I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of  living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

Joy is a choice, We may not realize it, but we choose our moods and our attitudes. God's promises in Christ are the basis for choosing joy no matter what we face.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
