A Prayer

Good Morning , Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Although the sun is shining , I think the clouds are gathering and we will probably have rain before long. It rained hard last evening just a little ways from here, but just a sprinkle here. That's good, because we are wet!

Jason came to mow yesterday morning, and said he is catching up from being unable to work due to the rain. The ground is so saturated, the ride on mower left some grooves in the grass by the street. I am sure they will soon fill in, though.

Well, the attack bird is still at it! He's picking on the window in the guest bedroom. Or I should say, "pecking". Seems like most birds spend their time looking for food, but not this one! When My cleaning ladies were here yesterday, Kim got to see him in action and thought it was cute, but if she had to listen to the tapping most of the day, I think she would change her mind!

Other than a trip to Boston Market for my dinner, I did not go out much yesterday, because of the staggered schedules of the yard guy and the cleaning ladies. But, God is good!

A Prayer from a Friend:

Dear Jesus,
I long for my spiritual and physical life to become
such a blend that I cannot separate the two. I also desire
to be a Lighthouse for your love with friends , neighbors
and extended family. I want to be able to do more for
others than what I can accomplish on my own. I am so
thankful for how I have been pulled out of the darkness
and into the light. I am so thankful that You regenerate
and prepare me for each day . What an awesome thought
to know that I am your brother -and God's child. I so desire
to receive power and direction from You in sharing hope
and direction with other people. I come to Uou and give You
my life today-seeking the love, power, and majesty of the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psalm 23

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I enjoy looking at the towering white clouds this time of the rainy season! They are so beautiful against the blue sky. I should take time one day just to sit and watch them change as the wind blows. Then, later on, as the rain clouds form, the clouds get very ominous looking.

We had our rainstorm early yesterday, The house was so dark I had to turn all the lights on, about 5:30, but after the storm passed, the sun came out brightly, until sunset. Ah, Florida in rainy season!

Well, the attack bird is back, Guess I spoke too soon yesterday, because I heard once again, the tapping on the windows in the afternoon, from one side of the house to the other.  The bird is reddish brown on top and has black and white stripes underneath. I believe from the length of the beak that it is some kind of woodpecker, but whatever it is, I wish he would take out his frustrations on something besides my windows!

All was peaceful at the park yesterday, with few cars parked and not many people visible. But when I went to the library, it was quite busy, with lots of people and kids. It is good to see people taking advantage of the computers and other resources that the local libraries have. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.

Even when I walk through the
dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies,
You welcome me as a guest,
anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love
will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Confidence

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  Amazing how the mornings can be so beautiful with sunshine and light or no breezes and then later in the evening the black clouds roll in and the thunder starts!

Yes, we had another tornado warning last night. I had stepped outside on the front porch about 8 and saw the bank of dark clouds in the southeast right over my neighborhood. I had the TV on and the weatherman started showing pics of radar and how severe the storm would be. Sure enough, the thunder and lightning started and we lost power for about a minute. When it came back on, I went to get my lantern to have it close, but didn't need it after all. I think I will keep it close at hand, until these thunderstorms roll around to the morning hours!

I noticed how high the water is in the canal over at the park from all the rain. It was up almost to the top of the weir! There were a few people enjoying the heat as they walked, but not many cars were parked. A few ibis were walking, and I saw an immature one by itself pecking along the bank of the canal.

I think my beauty berry bush is attracting a lot of butterflies, because I see lots of yellow and black striped one, large and small,  flitting and and dancing along outside my window heading toward the bush in the back yard. They are so pretty! And, BTW, the attack bird gave one last fierce peck against the east bedroom window yesterday and has not been back since! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How can we have confidence in the face of life's greatest hardships?

Romans 8:38-39 I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love.
Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't and the demons can't. Our fears for
today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell, can't keep
God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean,
nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God
that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Don't Condemn Others

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had a very loud and severe thunderstorm last night, which caused tornado warnings  . In fact, one small one touched down just a couple miles from here, at 87th and 4th St! Too close! When I finally climbed in bed, it was still rumbling and sprinkling. We got a lot of rain!

Well, my house is under attack by a brown, feisty sparrow. I have reflexive film on the windows and apparently this crazy bird thinks this other bird is intruding on his territory! I kept going from bedroom window to bedroom window, chasing him off, so he would stop pecking his brains out against the glass! This morning at 6:30, I heard the tap, tap against my window and sure enough, there he was, flinging himself against the window and pecking away! Now, that is a little too early for me! Hopefully, he will get over this obsession soon!

I went for a ride through the park yesterday, All was quiet and simmering in the heat of midday. Not many people were there, but the grass looks very green and the ibis were quietly pecking here and there. It was peaceful. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 7:1-6
Stop judging others, and you will not be judged.
For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever
measure you use in judging others, it will be used to
to measure how you will be judged. And why worry
about a speck in your friend's eye, when you have a
log in your own? How can you think of saying, "Let
me help you get rid of that speck in your eye, when you
can't  see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First
get rid of the log in your own eye, then perhaps you will
see well enough  to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.
Don't give what is holy to unholy people. Don't give
pearls to swine! They will trample the pearls , then
turn and attack you!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Effective Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sun, a slight breeze and the usual afternoon thunder showers are on the weather menu today. We had a very loud thunder and lightning storm in the late afternoon yesterday, but very little rain. I was having my supper when a loud clap of thunder really startled me!

We had a powerful sermon yesterday with a preview of the VBS puppets singing the theme song. During the service, a couple rows of chairs were added directly behind me and I did not even hear it being done!...must have been engrossed in listening.

On my way to church, yesterday morning, I saw a great blue heron by Lynch Lake trying to decide what to do with a small, wiggly turtle he held in his beak, I wish I could have stayed to watch, because the turtle was about three times wider than the skinny neck of the heron. Decisions, decisions!

Then this morning when I opened the front door to retrieve the Times, I thought I saw a squirrel, but it was Peter Cottontail. The little brown bunny was back again. He looked at me and decided I was harmless, so hopped over to a fern and started munching. So cute!

I watched the Skywire walk by Nik Wallenda last night, and nearly all the way across, he was thanking Jesus and praying about the motion of the wire and showing his faith in a very positive way. The following scripture is a reminder of how God answers prayers! God is Good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 7:7-11
Keep on asking and you will be given what you
ask for. Keep on looking and you will find. Keep on
knocking and the door will be opened. For everyone
who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the
door is opened to everyone who knocks. You parents,
if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give
them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do
you give them a snake? Of course not! If you sinful
people know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father give good
gifts to those who ask him.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Colossians 1

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made
and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Happy first day of summer! Ha. We have been having
summer weather for several weeks now, and my A/C has been running since May. Well,
now it is official!

Looks like our rain will come in the afternoon, now, because we have another sunny day with our usual puffy clouds. Last night I stepped outside to see an egg shaped moon, and a pretty sunset. The moon will be full in a couple days and I think it will be a super moon, so I will have to remember to go out to see it!

Jason, my yard man just left. Yesterday he called me from outside the house during the downpour. He had finished with  a house down the street, and too late came to do mine, so
he put that off until today. Two people on this street have asked me for references, so I get a discount for two and one man recommended the man across the street, so that is three Jason has picked up on the same street. Saves him money in gas to have four customers on the same street!

I finally put down a book I was reading and got my ironing done yesterday. Then I paid a visit to the park and saw a freshly mown park, (in fact, I followed a mower down the street and into the park). The grass was fresh and green from all the rain. Several ibis were pecking around and people were everywhere! A good hot day, so I stopped in at McD's to get a smoothie, which was pretty refreshing, God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 1:11
We also pray that you will be strengthened with
his glorious power so that you will have all the
patience and endurance you need. May you be
filled with joy, always thanking the Father who
has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs
to God's holy people, who live in the light. For he
has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom
of darkness, and he has brought us into the kingdom
of his dear Son. God has purchased our freedom with
his blood and has forgiven all our sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Colossians 1

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  We had sunshine for awhile, but now the sky is dark and thunder is rumbling, so it looks like we will have an early thunderstorm. When the sun comes back out, we will have a very humid, steamy day. Oh, well, this is our summer wet weather!

Yesterday I made good time getting to my dentist's office, because I got a lot of green lights on 66th St. and traffic was not too heavy. I got there a little early, and was taken in right away, so I was finished in record time!

However, when I left almost an hour later, it was lunch time and so I stopped and got a chicken sandwich to take home, because my cleaning ladies were due in half an hour. I took time to drive through the park and saw an anhinga on the weir , and a great white heron by the bank of the canal. A beautiful sight!

After the ladies left, I continued on with my shopping, and then headed for home because the heat was too much for me to enjoy any more getting in and out of the car! But, as always, God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 1:9-14
So we have continued praying for you ever since
we first heard about you. We ask God to give you
complete understanding  of what he wants to do
in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise
with spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will
always honor and please the Lord, and you will
continually do good and kind things for others.
All the while you will learn to know God better and
better. ...

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my
prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

The Power of Encouragement

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I was awakened early by the sound of rain, and was so happy to hear the nice soothing sound, that I went back to sleep. However, the sun is shining now and puffy clouds are back, so it looks like another beautiful, hot day!

I have another dentist app't for 11 this morning, so I have to hurry. The traffic is so heavy going across town, I like to allow about 30 minutes for driving time.

I just watched a squirrel rush his way through the hedge outside my window, not letting close branches and leaves deter him in the least. I also see over a dozen mangoes ripening on the tree in my vision. There are so many producing fruit trees in their yard, I think they could have a fruit stand to sell extras!

My cleaning ladies are coming around noon, so I will have a busy morning. Hope you all have a great Wednesday, God is good!

From the little devotional book Knowing God:

Patience and encouragement come from God. And I pray that God will help you all agree with each other the way Christ Jesus wants.

Romans 15:5 NCV

Here's a question only you can answer. During a typical day , how many opportunities will you have to encourage other human beings? Unless you're living on a deserted island, the answer is "a lot". And here's a follow up question. How often do you take advantage of these opportunities? Hopefully, the answer is "more often than not".

Romans 14:19 advises us to "Pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another." and whenever we do, God smiles.

Whether you realize it or not, you're surrounded by people
who need an encouraging word, a helping hand, or a pat on
the back. And every time you encourage one of these folks,
you'll be doing God's will by obeying God's Word. So with no
further ado, let the encouragement begin.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Living as Children of Light

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This is another day pretty much like yesterday, except maybe a teensy bit less humidity. Lots of sun and more puffy clouds.

I remember lying on the ground when I was a teenager and looking at the clouds to see what kind of faces I could spy. That was before TV or cell phones, when we had to play outdoors, instead of staying inside glued to some kind of electronic gadget! We also built our own scooters, and made clogs out of wood and rubber tube strips. Ah, those were the days!  I am so happy we have A/C now, though, after growing up without it. My family of five took a trip one summer, driving all the way to Reno, NV where my aunt lived. 36 Ford sedan with no A/C in July! What an adventure!

My adventure yesterday was a trip to Walmart for gas and a trip to Sawgrass park. Enough excitement for one day. Seems like the ospreys like to gather on the wires over Lynch Lake, now. I saw three there the other day, so there must be a lot of fish in that lake. Not many people were at the park on a very hot day, but I saw a great white heron and an ibis walking and wading in the canal, looking for lunch. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Ephesians 4:20

...But that isn't what you were taught when
you learned about Christ. Since you have heard
all about him and have learned the truth that is
in Jesus, throw off your old evil nature and  your
former way of life, which is rotten through and
through, full of lust and deception. Instead, there
must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and
attitudes. You must display a new nature because
you are a new person , created in God's likeness-
righteous, holy and true...

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my
prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Paul's Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad  in it! Sunshine, puffy clouds a slight, humid breeze and very warm temps are how this Monday is starting! With a promise to be even hotter as the days grow longer!

I enjoyed a good weekend, in spite of having my stitches out of the arm, and a visit to the dentist. The arm is healing nicely and so is the toe. I am able to wear closed toe shoes now, without so much discomfort, which is a blessing.

Brian came over for a visit Saturday, and I suggested that we go to The Hangar for dinner. He was in agreement, so off we went, and decided to try the waffle and chicken item. We had a wonderful waiter named Will. When I asked about the waffle and chicken, he said they had a number of "repeat offenders" who came back time after time for that dish. I was doubtful because I like veggies, and he pointed out that there were red pepper flakes in the maple syrup. I said that was not my idea of veggies. We had a laugh about it! I would not order the dish again, but it was different ...had lots of chicken, gravy and syrup.

While we were there, we could see the tall masts of the CG ship Eagle, and also, an ultra-light airplane came zooming down the field and off for a quick flight around the neighborhood, then came back in for a landing, out of sight. We also watched a Carnival cruise ship sail out of sight headed for some destination. Then we watched the Safari helo take off on a twenty minute flight, come back and land.

After we finished, Brian drove a far as he could, down to the harbor, so we could see the Eagle up close and personal. It is magnificent! We did not get the tour, but the close up look was great! I usually remember to say a little prayer of thanksgiving for the men flying the Coast Guard helicopter over the house as it comes back from it daily patrols.

Then came Sunday and I was engrossed by the power of the sermon and enjoyed meeting and greeting all the friends at church. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Ephesians 3:14-21

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and
pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited, resources he will give you mighty
inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more
and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep
into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have
the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide how
long and how deep his love really is. May you experience the
love of Christ , though it is so great you will never fully understand
it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power  that comes from God.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

All Creatures Great and Small

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining, and a moist breeze is blowing, but it looks like another great day ahead of us!

I am blessed with amazing and kind friends! When I came home from errand running yesterday, the trash can was sitting down by the street. My friend, and neighbor had done it.) Then, this morning I received a call from her as I was finishing breakfast and she said that a possum had been hit by a car and was lying in the street in front of the house with babies crawling on her. Cheryl dragged the mother over into the gutter and called the SPCA and told them about the babies. Well, the babies had not all been born, yet, so Cheryl pulled two of them out of the pouch and then got a basin to put the others in. They were nursing on the dead mother, so she really had to pull to get them off. The SPCA lady said the mother's milk would turn toxic after death, so it was important not to let them nurse. All together, there were nine babies. The SPCA lady came in about thirty minutes and put the carcass into a trash bag in the back of her nice, shiny van, with her bare hands!

Meanwhile, Cheryl went to put gloves on before she handled any more babies. I took pictures with my camera, but I don't know how to transfer them to the emails. BTW, Cheryl also brought my dumpster back up to the house! God is good! I think that is enough excitement for today!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 150
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his heavenly dwelling,
praise him in his mighty heaven!
Praise him for his mighty works,
Praise his unequaled greatness!
Praise him with a blast of the trumpet,
Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
praise him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals;
praise him with loud clanging cymbals,
Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 20

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sunshine so far and very little breeze. But yesterday,
the sun changed to dark clouds about noon, and sure enough, we had a nice downpour for about  an hour.

I went to Checkers to get a hot dog for lunch, since I like a frank once in a while, and after I munched on it, my biker friend came over to fix the shower track that I had bent with my wounded elbow. We were having a nice visit when my cleaning ladies called that they were on the way, so they got to meet David. It was still raining , so they got a little wet, which did not bother them, since they were too warm from the house they had just finished, which was about 83 inside!

On the way home from Checkers, I drove around Lynch Lake and saw two ospreys on the line looking over the fish, I guess, from their vantage point. When I looked out my front door earlier today, I saw three of the squirrel family that are living in my oak trees. One looked like a baby. So God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 20:1-5
In times of trouble, may the Lord respond to your cry.
May the God of Israel keep you safe from all harm.
May he send you help from his sanctuary
and strengthen you from Jerusalem.
May he remember all your gifts
and look favorably on your burnt offerings.

May he grant your heart's desire
and fulfill all your plans.
May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory,
flying banners to honor our God.
May the Lord answer all your prayers.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Ezekiel 36

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Although we had some dark clouds yesterday, no rain fell on this part of town, and we have lots of sunshine today with only a light breeze, but it is already getting very warm!

Last Wednesday's storm blew off the large mango I had my eye on, but, unfortunately, it did not fall in my yard. However, there are still a half dozen or more that I can see from my window, so there is still hope. Since this is the neighbor's tree, I don't think she will share. Sigh.

I went for my app't. with the podiatrist to check up on my toenail, which is healing slowly, and after I finished with him, drove up to CVS, loading up on several items I was out of. Then I scooted next door to Steak and Shake and waited about ten minutes in the drive thru line for a half price strawberry shake.

I took the shake to the park and found a place in the shade to slurp on it, while enjoying the sounds of an angry squirrel scritching at something. Birds were chirping, yellow butterflies were flitting about in their erratic way, and an ibis was slowly pecking his way along the grass. It was a peaceful time and God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Ezekiel 36:22-27

Therefore, give the people of Israel this message from
the Sovereign Lord. I am bringing you back again but
not because you deserve it . I am doing it to protect my
holy name, which you dishonored while you were scattered
among the nations. I will show how holy my great name
is ---the name you dishonored among the nations.
And when I reveal my holiness through you before their
very eyes, says the sovereign Lord, then the nations will
know that I am the Lord. For I will gather you up from all
the nations and bring you home again to your land.

Then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you will be clean.
Your filth will be washed away and you will no longer
worship idols. And I will give you a new heart with new
and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you so you
will obey my laws and do whatever I command.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Isaiah 40

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sunshine and puffy clouds this morning, but our summer rains have been coming later in the afternoon, so maybe, we will have another shower later on. Last evening, I was taking all the trash out and when I opened the garage door, I was surprised to see it was raining! Not a hard rain, but a gentle one, But then we had a hard rain the night before that, so right now we are wet!

It was a good weekend. We had a wonderful sermon, finishing out the John series, then a time of prayer. After that, everyone was invited to eat birthday cake that a five year old wanted to share with the "church". She was so cute!

I showed off my wounded arm with the blue stitches to all those who were interested in my misadventures. Although it still looks really bad with the huge bruises, it does not hurt unless I rest my arm on the stitched up places. Which I try not to do!

I rode into the park to see what the storm had done, and saw where the water and trash had flowed up and over the weir. Lots of trash was piled up along the banks and further down, the canal was very full with several smaller trees down in the water. My front yard still has lots of twigs and larger deadwood in it from the trees, but the large nest hanging right over the driveway, did not get touched. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Isaiah 40:27-31
O Israel, how can you say the Lord does not
see your troubles? How can you say God
refuses to hear your case? Have you never heard
or understood? Don't you know that the Lord
is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth?
He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure
the depths of his understanding . He gives power to
those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength
to those who are weak. Even youths will become
exhausted and young men will give up. But those
who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They
will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and
not grow weary, They will walk and not faint.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my
prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Random acts of kindness

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord had made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The storm is gone, the sun is shining, puffy clouds are floating by and the waters have receded.  Mostly, all is well.

Even though I have been confined to the house for the past two days,I have received much kindness from prayer partners and friends with offers of help. Then the TBT carrier yesterday morning pushed the chair he leaves the paper in, against the wall right by the front door, so I just had to put one foot out to pick it up.

After my friend and cleaning lady, Cheryl took the dumpster down front for me, when they finished cleaning,, I noticed the wind had blown it over after it was emptied yesterday, and it was lying in the street on its side. When the rain had stopped, I was thinking about going to pick it up, but heard the neighbor kid come home and next thing I knew, it was back in place outside my kitchen window! I called him to see if he had done it, and he confirmed it and seemed embarrassed by my thanks. We had a nice chat about his family who lives out near the intracoastal waterway. and caught up on news. He lives all alone in the big house by choice.

BTW, my arm is looking pretty horrible with a huge bruise from elbow to middle of the arm, but I have the stitches open to the air as per instructions, and it seems to be healing nicely. Thanks for all the prayers!

People are good and God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 63:1-5

O, God, you are my God,
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you,
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.

I have seen you in your sanctuary,
and gazed upon your power and glory
Your unfailing love is better to me than life itself.
How I praise you!
I will honor you as long as I live.
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest of foods.
I will praise you with songs of joy.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in

Live on Purpose

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Even though it was cloudy nearly all day yesterday, we had no rain around here, and today looks the same. However, there is a large area of clouds in the gulf and it is slowly moving north, which means we will be getting wet maybe tomorrow. But that's okay because we can always use the rain!

I was thinking yesterday as I drove into a shopping place that we have taken over so much of the ospreys space, that they are building nests anywhere. I reflected on that when I saw straw, sticks and other stuff sticking haphazardly out of a couple of tall light covers on a pole. They seem to come back to the same nests year after year, so I guess it doesn't bother them.

Well, I was brave and went through the ingrown toenail operation with no pain even from the needle stick. The Doc said I must have a high pain threshold, because he has some patients who just about climb off the chair when he sticks them. But other than pressure, I really felt no discomfort. But I was awakened early by the toe throbbing, so I climbed out of bed  and started my day by soaking the toe as directed in vinegar water. So, I am doing okay and hopefully, it will heal with no problems. God is good!

From the little devotional book Knowing God:

God chose you to be his people, so I urge you now to live the life to which God called you.
Ephesians 4:1 NCV

Life is best lived on purpose. And purpose, like everything
else in the universe, begins with God. Whether you
realize it or not, God has a plan for your life, a divine
calling, a direction in which He is leading you. When you
welcome God into your heart  and establish a genuine
relationship with Him, He will begin, in time to make His
purposes known.

Sometimes, God's intentions will be clear to you; other times,
God's plans will seem uncertain at best. But even on those
difficult days when you are unsure which way to turn, you must
never lose sight of these overriding fact: God created you
for a reason; he has important work for you to do and he's
waiting patiently for you to do it.

And the next step is up to you.

"I beg you not to squander life. And don't live for this world only."
Billy Graham

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Thorn in the Flesh

Good Morning, Dear  Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Even though it is cloudy, even though we are predicted to have a rainy week, we will still rejoice and be glad in it!

I am not rejoicing over my podiatrist appointment this afternoon, though. He is going to carve on my big toe, to try to rid me of an ingrown toenail. Ouch! I do not like to have tender feet! But, if it means an end to that problem, I will try to grin and bear it.

I had a good weekend, over all. A fairly quiet Saturday, once I got through the heavy traffic at Walmart where I went to gas up the van for 2.94 a gallon! Once Wawa went down, a lot of other stations followed suit, then the next day prices went back up to what they had been. It looked like Christmas eve at Walmart, the traffic was so heavy. But everyone was polite and no horn blowing and for the most part, people were patient.

My friend, Cheryl, one half of my cleaning duo, came in the rain to bring me a container with some delicious Oreo truffles, which she had made. So yummy! She is such a sweet person!

I stopped in at the peaceful park yesterday, and saw a big, brown, gopher tortoise speeding along a grassy path. Lots of people were hanging over the bridge watching critters in the water, as the current ripped along , well, three mile per hour current is not exactly ripping, but it seems pretty fast. The canal is up considerably from all the rain as are the lakes, so God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

2 Corinthians 12:7-10
...But to keep me from getting puffed up, I was
given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan
to torment me and keep me from getting proud.

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it
away. Each time he said, "My gracious favor is all
you need. My power works best in your weakness."
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so
that the power of Christ may work through me. Since
I know it is all for Christ's good, I am quite content
with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships,
persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak,
then I am strong.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
