Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another sunny, dry day is before us and the temps are going up to the nineties by midday! Did I complain about the cold last winter?? Hope not.

The yard crew has been and gone, and it is the end of another month! Wow! July already! Where has the time gone? It seems like it is just flying by! I have been trying to remember and write down my memories from birth to the present and while I look back at what I considered an ordinary life, still, I can see God's hand gently working in situations I would not have wished anyone else to have. I have not traveled as much as I would have liked...never having gone to Ireland or England, but am happy that we went to NC and most of the other states when we did, either before or after I was married.

I have re-thought the parachute jumping, and instead, a hot air balloon ride sounds tempting! Who knows? It may come to pass!

Yesterday, I visited Boston Market for my take home lunch and there was Victoria egret standing at the front door, patiently waiting for an invitation to a snack! She seems to have adopted the particular restaurant, and knows that it is better than the McDonalds right across the street!

God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 103

Praise the Lord, I tell myself;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, I tell myself,
and never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives my sins and heals all my diseases.
He ransoms me from death
and surrounds me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle's!
The Lord give righteousness and justice to all
who are treated unfairly.

He revealed his character to Moses
and his deeds to the people of Israel,
The Lord is merciful and gracious;
he is slow to get angry and  full of unfailing love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Phlippin' thru Philippians

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sun, breezes and puffy, white clouds! The same today and tomorrow. Just beautiful!

I spent some time yesterday trying to remember my life story and writing it down. More difficult than I imagined! I was asked to do this for the FCC anniversary coming up in Oct. I am not the only one to do this...several others are doing the same thing. I don't think anyone is as old as I am and has so many years to cover! I did not get very far, however. Still have to work on the early adult years....

This should be a good project for everyone who has grandchildren, who don't know what life was like without all the electronic gadgets of today! I remember the hang up phones, first black and white TV's, typewriters, ( I still have an electric one) and movies that were family oriented....no swearing, clothes that covered the body, etc. Ah, those were the days!

I took a break and drove over to the Park in the heat and humidity, just to see the ibis, anhingas and squirrels racing around. Life goes on over there, but peacefully on the surface.
God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Philippians 4:4-9
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it
again---rejoice!  Let everyone see that you
are considerate in all you do . Remember
the Lord is coming soon.

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray
about everything. Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done. If you do
this, you will experience God's peace, which
is far more wonderful than the human mind
can understand. His peace will guard your hearts
and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say
one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your
thoughts on what is true and honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and
admirable. Think about things that are excellent
and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice
all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the
God of peace will be with you.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It looks  like the same weather as yesterday, hot and humid, but then, this is summer in Florida, so that is to be expected.

My cleaning friend came by herself yesterday, since her partner was baby sitting with her grands, so we had some fun chats while she cleaned. She retired from the phone company 18 years ago, and after her divorce, formed a partnership with her next door neighbor and they have been in the house cleaning business for 18 years, setting their  own hours and working as much as they want or as little as they want. They are good at what they do, and it works for them. They treat each other as family. A friendship like that is rare!

After Cheryl left I had to run some errands, and as I was coming home, I saw my neighbor was mowing his yard for the first time in a couple months. He lives in his parents house, because they built a new one and since he did not want to move, they still have this house, which the son does not take good care of. I had not seen him in person for a couple months and hardly recognized him, but at least, the yard looks better. I just see his yellow Mustang coming and going to work.

I drove over to the park, and passed under an osprey perched on a wire. They seem to be plenteous this summer. I also saw a beautiful egret and ibis with their pristine white feathers, contrasted with the green of the foliage. Very pretty! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 1
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the
advice of the wicked, or stand around with
sinners, or join in with scoffers.
But they delight in doing everything the Lord
wants; day and night they think about his law.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season without fail.
Their leaves never wither,
and in all they do they prosper.

But this is not true of the wicked.
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,
But the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers wit thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Opportunities

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The weather has really been hot the past couple days with temps in the nineties, which makes me thankful for A/C in the house and car! Also the humidity has really been high!

But the birds and squirrels do not seem to notice what the weather is like. I was just watching a mockingbird in the hedge preening and cleaning for about five minutes, while below him on another branch, his friend was hopping from one branch and twig to another, gathering up the berries. Then...off they go!

I drove out the the car wash yesterday and got the van looking much better, then cleaned up the windows before pulling into the garage. It needs cleaning on the inside, too, but that's a job for another day. I also finished a Nicholas Sparks' book, which had me in tears toward the end. Wonderful writer!

Seems like a lot of accidents are happening all over, the last few times I have been out, ER vehicles have passed close by or the police have cars stopped for some infraction. I passed between a paramedic fire truck and Sun Star ambulance just down at the end of my street  yesterday! I don't know what happened but hope it was not serious.

Then I drove on to the park and saw the spoonbill again in the same spot as day before yesterday! Not a lot of people were out in the heat, but the graceful ibis and egrets were enjoying the canal. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How do I know if an opportunity is from the Lord?

Joshua 1:7-9
Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you.
Do not turn away from them and you will be successful in everything
you do. Study this book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and
night, so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will
you succeed. I command you---be strong and courageous Do not be
afraid or discouraged. For the Lord God is with you wherever you go.
God honors faithfulness in little things with with the privilege of responsibility
for greater things.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

True wisdom comes from God

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of clouds are in the sky this morning, but they are white and puffy and the dark ones don't usually show up until late afternoon.

I have noticed outside my window that the bluejays seem to really enjoy the berries on the large podacarpus hedge that belongs to the neighbors. I see them flying in and out all day. Of course, they like peanuts, too. I throw out nuts for the squirrels and before they can get one, a jay swoops in and it's gone! They are thieves!

After doing some chores around the house yesterday, I took a little ride over to the park and caught a glimpse of a roseate spoonbill way down the canal near the entrance ...a beautiful spot of pink against the greens and grays of the foliage. In all the years I have walked the park, maybe twenty or more, this is the first year that they have shown up. I have seen huge gators mating, caught a snake on the boardwalk and watched baby hawks mature and leave the nest, but never have I seen the spoonbills until just this year. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

James 3:12-18
If you are wise and understand God's ways ,
live a life of steady goodness so that only
good deeds will pour forth. And if you don't
brag about the good you do, then you will
be truly wise! But if you are bitterly jealous
and there is selfish ambition in your hearts,
don't brag about being wise. That is the worst
kind of lie. For jealousy and selfishness are not
God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly,
unspiritual and motivated by the Devil. For
wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition,
there you will find disorder and every kind of evil.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first
of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all
times, and willing to yield to others. It's full of mercy
and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always
sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant
seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Clouds and sunshine are on tap for today and maybe rain later on this afternoon. But the breezes are ruffling the branches of the shrubs and breaking off small twigs on the trees. Soon my yard crew will be here and take care of the cleanup.

I had a quiet day yesterday. Unfortunately, time ran out on me, and I missed church...one of the first times. Guess I am just moving slower these days! Later on in the afternoon, I drove over to the Park and saw the roseate spoonbill in the middle of the mud in the canal. What a beauty! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 119:1-8

Happy are people of integrity,
who follow the law of the Lord.
Happy are those who obey his decrees
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us
to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently
reflect your principles!
Then I will not be disgraced
when I compare my life with your commands.
When I learn your righteous laws,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your principles.
Please don't give up on me!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Paul's Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sun and some puffy, white clouds are greeting the day, but I still see glittering drops of rain on the shrubs and an occasional drip off the roof, from the rain last night. It was quite a thunderstorm, and since I did not have any place to go, I was snug in my house.

Well, I drove out to my dentist's yesterday, which is across town at Crosswinds. Saw some construction I had not seen before and passed a Shell station selling gas for 3.39 a gal.! I saw on FB that it is predicted to go as high as $10.00 a gal. due to the conflict in Iraq! I pray that does not happen!

My garage is empty right now, since my mechanic, Ray., came by to pick up the van and take it for servicing. What a convenience! He will bring it back at noon and swap for his SUV, which is in the driveway.I would not mind if he brought a Coney Island chili dog with him!

My across the street neighbor and cleaning lady took my dumpster down yesterday. I am so blessed with the helpful people around here and at church! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:
Ephesians 3:14-23

Paul's prayer for Spiritual Empowering

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan , I fall to my
knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven
and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources
he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.
And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts
as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of
God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand
as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high and how
deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ though
it is so great you will never fully understand it . Then you will be
filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is
able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or
hope. May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever
and ever through endless ages. Amen

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Water is still dripping off the roof from last nights rains, but today is sunshiny and bright. Seems like the weather pattern is slowly changing though with the storms coming later. The weather report said that the rains will come earlier over the weekend...that's the way it always is...

I ran some errands yesterday and then went to the park and saw an anhinga at the weir and the usual ibis and egrets in the canal which is really overgrown now.  On my way home, I saw and osprey and anhinga perched on a telephone wire at Lynch Lake Park. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 128

How happy are those who fear the Lord---
all who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
How happy you will be! How rich your life!
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine,
flourishing within your home.
And look at all those children!
There they sit around your table as vigorous
and healthy as young olive trees.
That is the Lord's reward for those who fear him.

May the Lord continually bless you from Zion.
May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live.
May you live to enjoy your grandchildren and
may Israel have quietness and peace.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Planning

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sun and probably more rumbles in the evening again, but so far, we have not had rain in this area for the past few days. However, the grass is growing fast and the staghorn fern is enormous! It loves the rain!

I had to leave my cleaning ladies to keep an appointment with my podiatrist yesterday afternoon, because it was my regular visit, but I also had a very sore spot on the bottom of my left foot. Turns out I had a tiny sliver of glass embedded in my foot, which had become infected! He put a needle in to deaden it, and dug out the glass. My foot felt much better immediately, but is still very tender. I think a tiny piece of glass from a broken plate must have slipped into my slipper and got into my foot. The plate had slipped out of the cabinet when I was putting dishes up one day last week and shattered into a hundred pieces or so! Anyway, it was good to get that taken care of.

This morning I took time to watch the Celebration of Anne Dwyer's career with Channel 13 Fox. She has been a favorite of mine for 28 years and this was her last day as she is retiring.  I wish her the best!

After I left the doctor's office, yesterday, I thought I deserved a treat, so drove to Steak and Shake to get a Happy Hour milkshake, then took it to the park and sat in the shade to slurp it. Problem was; it was so thick I could not suck it through the straw. But I enjoyed looking at the very large gopher tortoise as he headed into his burrow, and the ibis and egrets pecking in the mud in the canal, which is now very low on water. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How am I supposed to plan my life?

Proverbs 2:1-11
My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your
ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for
insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money
or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear
the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of  God. For the Lord grants
wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He
grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield,

protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice
and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand
what is right, just and fair, and you will know how to find the right course
of action every time. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge
will fill you with joy. Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will
keep you safe.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,

Comfort

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sun this morning with the thundershowers moving to late afternoon, although we did not get a drop yesterday.

Well, I spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday, moving appointments around. I did not go to the dentist after all, since I had another plumbing problem and had to wait for Inman's to get here  Looks like I may or may not, have to have the Orangeburg pipe replaced. Depending on what the city says. The blockage may be on the city line and not mine. Sigh." This old house", as Rosemary Clooney used to sing. One repair after another! Now, My doorbell does not work any more!

So...all I did yesterday was laundry and wait; but I did get to notice squirrels and birds in my own yard, so wildlife is always near. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT, God offers comfort to all:

2nd Corinthians 1:3-7

All praise to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy
and the God who comforts us. He comforts us
in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.
When others are troubled, we will be able to give
them the same comfort God has given us. You can
be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more
God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.
So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is
for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts
us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement
to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things
we suffer. We are confident that as you share in
suffering, you will also share God's comfort.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 90

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sun this morning and no rain yesterday, although I heard rumbles in the distance last night. But it is already up to 80 and will get much warmer as the day goes on.

We had a lively service yesterday with dedication of all the VBS workers and the O Happy Day song from several years ago. That's one I want sung at my Celebration of Life service whenever that time comes! It was a good Sunday with lots of hugs and chats with friends!

Well, this afternoon I have a dental appointment with Danielle, my teeth cleaner. She is so nice, married, with a little girl. I don't think I would like the job of looking down in the mouths of so many people and poking around and cleaning, but she does a good job.

Well, I saw where former Pres. George H. W. Bush did another tandem jump on he 90th birthday, and I had in the back of my mind that I would like to do that, but after looking up the procedure on the internet, I have changed my mind...all day prep, instructions, high altitude and good physical condition, (although the former Prez cannot walk). And the cost is a little too high just to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.  Sigh. Should have done it when I was younger.

I saw an egret stretching its neck to get something in the water at the Park yesterday, and the gopher tortoise was being examined by a little girl and her dad. Then, As I was leaving, I stopped to let a moss covered, wet, snapping turtle cross the road from the weir side to the lake side. As soon as he passed in front of me, he stopped and stretched out his long, snakelike neck! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 90

Lord, through all the generations
You have been our home!
Before the mountains were created,
before you made the earth and the world,
you are God, without beginning or end.

You turn people back to dust, saying,
"Return to dust!".
For you, a thousand years are like yesterday!
They are like a few hours!
You sweep people away like dreams that disappear
or like grass that springs up in the morning....

You spread out our sins before you---
our secret sins---and you see them all
We live our lives beneath your wrath.
We end our lives with a groan.

Seventy years are given to us!
Some may even reach eighty.
But even the best of these years are filled
with pain and trouble;
soon they disappear, and we are gone....
Teach us to make the most of our time,
so that we may grow in wisdom.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

The Ripple Effect

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is overcast this morning and we have already had thunder nearby and I heard rumblings in the distance, but. so far, no rain. We had no rain yesterday, either, but the earth is still damp from other downpours, and I am sure we will have sun shortly!( BTW,
it is pouring and dark now!)

Yesterday I went to my doctor for a checkup and he was so pleased with my BP and weight loss that he told me not to buy a Ferrari on time, because I would probably have to pay for it! A little humor there...Anyway, I did feel good and some days are better than others as far as my back goes. Guess you can't reach my age without a few aches and pains along the way!

After leaving his office, I stopped by the church to drop off some craft stuff for VBS which starts Monday. Things will be busy around the church at that time! I had a nice chat with two friends while there. Then I went on to the park and noticed that few cars were there, but it was quiet and peaceful with the deep shade from the trees and the beauty of gnarly brown and gray branches holding up the deep green leaves and the whiteness of the egrets in the mass of green growth in the canal which still has more water in it than it used to before the rains. God is good!

From the devotional book Quiet Moments with God:

Matthew 13:32 KJV
The mustard seed! Indeed is the least of all seeds
but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs,
and becometh a tree so that the birds of the air come
and lodge in the branches thereof."

Not all people who commit their lives to Jesus Christ will be called to be world
famous. The majority of us are called to fulfill less noticeable roles in our churches
communities, and families. Yet only God may know how significant our roles are to the
future of thousands----even millions.

A century and a half ago a humble minister lived and died in a small village in Leicestershire. England. He lived there his entire life and never traveled far from home. He never attended college and had no formal degrees but he was a faithful village minister.

In his congregation was a young cobbler to whom he gave special attention,
teaching him the word of God. This young man was William Carey, later hailed as
one of the greatest missionaries of modern times.

The village minister also had a son---a boy whom he taught faithfully and encouraged
constantly. The boy's character and talents were profoundly impacted by his father's life. That son grew up to be a man many considered the mightiest public orator of his day; Robert Hall.

When you think you are having no impact in the world by teaching a Sunday school class or visiting those who are homebound, remember the little country preacher who influenced two nations for the Lord.

We never know what ripples of healing we set in motion by simply smiling on one another.
Henry Drummond

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Planning

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining now, but the sky was overcast a few minutes ago and water is still dripping off the roof. So I don't know whether it is from the rain last night or if we had a shower early this morning, We had a thunderstorm last night again, in this area , but it was not raining downtown, so it is still scattered thunderstorms in the forecast!

My cleaning ladies came much earlier yesterday than they had planned, so it was good to see them. I always catch up on where they have lunch. They check out all the sandwich shops, but did not know that Earl of Sandwich was open on 4th St. so I will let them check it out before I go. I showed them the group photo of all the graduates who attended the reunion last Friday and they thought everyone looked pretty good considering our advanced years.

I have what I think is a dead anole in my bathroom. He has been there for about three days, and was scooting around the room. I told him he better not come into the bedroom or be in the middle of the floor if I had to get up in the night. But now he has been in the same position for several hours and I think it is curtains for him R. I. P. anole!

I made my way to Wendy's later for a baked potato and Strawberry Fields salad. The potato I ate for my supper and I will have the salad for lunch today.  It was worth going through the construction, (destruction) going on at 83rd and 9th St.  Looks like that will going on for a good long while!

Then I took a trip to the Park and saw a feathery egret and one in the canal. I also saw three ospreys sitting on a wire at Lynch Lake Park. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How Am I supposed to plan my life?

Proverbs 2:1-11
My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your

A plan is only as good as the information upon which it's based. Our
human intellect is limited and inadequate. Apart from the Lord, our
plans are liable to fail. The Lord promises wisdom to those who rely
on his Word and depend on his spirit.

Greetings from James

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I see sun and a dark cloud outside my window, so instead of the late shower we had last night, we may have an early one today. Which is fine with me, because I have laundry to do later, and don't need to go out.

Well, I called the plumber yesterday to unclog my shower, and he did a great job! The problem now is, since the tiny plastic plugs have been removed, the water comes out so forcefully that before I can rinse off, I am standing in a couple inches of water! I may have to call him back!

My cleaning ladies are not due until later this afternoon, so perhaps I can do grocery shopping before they come. I took a trip to the library and got an armload of books, then stopped and got iced tea since yesterday was National Iced Tea day.

Afterwards I drove to the peaceful park and saw that the canal was still half full with water and I could only see one egret in it! But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

James 1:2
Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity
for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance is fully developed, you will
be strong in character and ready for anything.

If you need wisdom--if you want to know what God wants you to do---ask him
and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. But when you ask him,
be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled
as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should
not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up their minds.
They waver back and forth in everything they do....

God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  Just like yesterday, we have sun and a little breeze, but we had a fierce thunderstorm in the afternoon!

My handyman, Rick, was power washing the house when the storm came up, and he did not stop. By the time he got to the driveway, the rain was slanting because the wind was blowing so strongly. I was afraid he was going to get hit by lightning, but he kept on working and was soaking wet! He said it didn't bother him, but it bothered me to see him in the rain.  I must say the house looks really good, now. Dirt and cobwebs gone..looks almost like a new paint job.

Before Rick started on the house I had him work on my shower, which only had a trickle coming out of the hose. He discovered it was stopped up with residue from hard water, and this morning I was able to enjoy a full stream of water, but then suddenly it stopped, and now, hardly any water is coming out. So I called Rick, but he is out at the beaches today, so I called the plumber and hopefully he will be able to fix it permanently!

After Rick left, I did some shopping, and stopped at the Park to see more water in the canal, and a few people enjoying the aftermath of the rain Just a few ibis were around and, of course, the squirrels. I guess they just get in the trees and hang on during a strong storm! Just like the ones in my trees! But, as always, God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 57:7
My heart is confident in you, O God;
no wonder I can sing your praises!
Wake up, my soul!
Wake up, O harp and lyre!
I will waken the dawn with my song!
I will thank you, Lord, in front of all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations.
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.
May your glory shine over all the earth.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy
and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The days seem to be all the same lately...sunshine, heat and breezes, but the car gets so hot when parked in the sun for any length of time! Summer is here!

Seems like each time I think I have a free week in front of me, God has other plans. I look at my calendar and see blanks, but before I know it, activities pop up and off I go!

Some of you may have read the article in the TBT about the reunion of the class of "44 from SPHS. Well, that was my graduating class! It was historic, because we graduated the evening before D Day, when the world, as we knew it, changed. I had invited Brian as my guest at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, so he was able to take time off work to pick me up and take me there.

There were a surprising group. larger than I had thought, and even though there were walkers, canes and wheelchairs, we all had a good time seeing old friends. Lots of pictures were taken by a pro photographer, the daughter of one of our classmates. I have not seen mine yet, but the class picture taken of all of us, turned out pretty good! I was one of the "younger" ones since I graduated when I was 17. Ah, Memories...

We had a good lively church service yesterday, with all the youth leading, including worship, singing, playing instruments and giving testimonies. Since the service ran over time, the pastor said he would hold his sermon for another time. I stayed afterward talking to Drew and Tim about iphones and how to send pics. Very helpful, but I still don't know how. Sigh.

Well, I drove to the park later on in the afternoon, after returning books to the library book drop, and saw quite a number of people there. The roseate spoonbill was there pecking away in the grassy bottom of the canal. and squirrels were zipping all around. Speaking of wild animals; I had gone to Boston Market for my dinner, and a beautiful egret was hanging around the drive thru window looking for a handout. When I was ready to go, I saw Victoria Egret's head right in front of the van. so I had to slowly keep rolling toward her, so she would keep backing up. she finally took off in the air! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 8: 35-39

Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer
loves us if we have trouble  or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold
or in danger or threatened with death?( Even the scriptures say, "For your sake
we are killed every day ; we are slaughtered  like sheep." ) No, despite all these
things overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't
and life can't. The angels can't and the demons can't. Our fears for today ; our
worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.
Whether  we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean , nothing in all
creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed
 in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Paul's Final Advice

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sunshine and not much chance of rain, and even the air is still right now, without a breeze. It will be a hot one later on, like yesterday.

Speaking of yesterday, I made it a point to be at the Lab for work early, so did not get time to send my usual blog. I walked in the door at Quest and saw a friend from church standing at the counter, so had a chance to speak with her for a few minutes. I had not made an appointment, but did not have a very long wait. Afterwards, I went over to MacDonalds for a very salty cheese, bacon, and egg biscuit. That is probably the first meal I have bought there in a few years. They are not my favorite fast food place. However, I could hardly wait to get home for my cup of tea!

Cheryl had called to say she was cleaning by herself, so she came at 10, and I did not even have time to clean up my few dishes, which she was happy to do herself. I had no energy after giving about 5 0r 6 vials of blood, so I just sat and vegetated while she was here.

I felt much revived  after lunch and drove on down to the cleaners to pick up my Amish quilt, and then visited the park on the way back home. It was very quiet, few people and cars, and peaceful and calm. I saw the tan gopher tortoise and egrets and herons in the canal. And, BTW, I have an amaryllis blooming!! They bloom around Christmas, and this is the first time I have ever had one bloom in June! God is good!

From the Promise Bible  NLT:

1 Thessalonians 5:12-19

Dear brothers sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the
Lord's work. They work hard among you, and warn you
against all that is wrong. Think highly of them and give them
your wholehearted love because of their work. And remember to
live peaceably with each other.

Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy.
Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who
are weak. Be patient with everyone.

See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good
to each other and to everyone else.

Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens,
always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to
 Christ Jesus.

Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test
everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Keep away from
every kind of evil.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had no rain yesterday, and even though it is overcast this morning, I don't think rain is in the forecast . It is still very warm, though.

I noticed from my window there are some tiny, crazy looking bugs that fly dizzyingly around and around in circles, just in front of the hedge. I don't know what purpose they serve, but, just like mosquitoes, God must have had a reason for them. Maybe they are food for some larger critter.

Well, I drove out to Walmart yesterday to gas up the van, and was pleased to see gas prices have dropped lately! The gas pumps were not very busy, so I picked a good time to go. I stopped in at the park, on my way, of course, and enjoyed the peace, deep shade and ibis, one turtle basking in the sun on the weir, egrets and herons in the canal, but did not see and roseate spoonbills. But, anyway, God is always Good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 92:1-4,  12-15

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love
in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening
accompanied by the harp and lyre.
You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what you have done!

But the godly will flourish like palm trees,
that grow like the cedars of Lebanon
for they are transplanted into the Lord's own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.
Even in old age they will still produce fruit
They will remain vital and green.

They will declare, "The Lord is just!
He is my rock!
There is nothing but goodness in him!"

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Evening and Morning

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had such a nice, long rain last night that should last us for a couple days. I was hoping it would still be raining when I went to bed, because I always like to sleep with the rain falling softly outside. But, it had quit just a little while before, but the rain was a blessing, anyway. Today is already cloudy, so maybe we will have a little more rain today!

We had our combined  worship service yesterday, which means one service for the rest of the summer. It was good to see people that have been coming to the first service, since I always attend the second.

I was so blessed by the greeting I received yesterday...Michael came out to where I parked to meet me, and as soon as I walked through the door, Dan was there to lend me his elbow and escort me to the seats. I felt so special! I still don't know why the special treatment, but I'll take it any day!

We had brunch afterward, honoring Marilou and Debbie for their 25 and 20 years of service to the church and once again, I was assisted with my plate. There were some amusing videos from the former pastors mentioning different things that happened during their tenures with FCC and the "church ladies".  Good singing, good preaching, Holy Communion. and good fellowship!  God is good!

From the Devotional Quiet Moments with God:

There was evening and there was morning---the first day.
Genesis 1:5

In the Book of Genesis, each day of creation is concluded with the
phrase, "and there was evening, and there was morning."

From the Hebrew perspective, the day begins at evening, specifically
with the setting of the sun How unlike our Western tradition, where
we start our days at the crack of dawn and consider night to be the end
of a long day!

What does it mean for the day to begin at evening?

For Hebrew people through the centuries, the transition from afternoon
to evening has been marked by prayer. Evening prayer is a Jewish custom.
After prayer, families then gather together for a meal.

The most holy day of the week, the Sabbath, begins with the lighting of
candles and a proclamation of faith, then a more formal family dinner.
After the evening  meal, Jewish families traditionally gather together
to read God's Word and discuss how His laws apply to their lives. The
evening ends in rest...

Consider the priorities evidenced by their way of life:

1. They focus on prayer and their relationship with God.
2.  The emphasize family life.
3. They study the scripture daily, making God's word the
     last thought of the day.
4. They rest and sleep.

It was only after a Hebrew talked with God, enjoyed the love and fellowship
of family, studied the Scriptures, and rested, that work was undertaken!

What would happen in your life if you adopted this strategy for your evening
hours?

Is it possible you would find yourself more renewed and refreshed, more
energetic and healthy, more creative and productive?

might the priorities you desire in your life become a reality?

Why not give it a try? Begin your next day in the evening, and wake up
knowing you're totally refreshed===spirit , soul and body---to have a full and
productive day!

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday and all is well.
