Effective prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! After Saturday's turbulent weather, and Sunday's perfect sun and warm up, today looks like more of the same. Cool but sunny for baseball's opening day. However, it doesn't matter what the weather is for the Rays, since their field is indoors!

The rain had quit long enough Saturday for Brian to take me to Red Lobster for the Lobsterfest.  I went for the Lobster lovers dream and got a huge plate full of lobster, pasta with shrimp and broccoli. I really enjoy the cheese biscuits that they have. Of course, I brought most of my meal home, since I had already had the lobster bisque and cole slaw. But I enjoyed it yesterday, after church!

I took a drive to the park and saw that the water was up quite high in the canal after the downpour we had Saturday.. Lots of people were out and the herons and ibis were also enjoying the feasts and the good weather. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 7:7-11

Keep on asking, and you will be given what
you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find.
Keep  on knocking, and the door will be opened.
For everyone who who asks, receives. Everyone
who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to
everyone who knocks. You parents---if your children
ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone
instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them
a snake? Of course not! If you sinful people know how
go give good gifts to your children, how much more
will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Greetings from Paul

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We started out with sunshine, but now it is overcast and breezy and still a little coolish. But, already the race cars for the Grand Prix are making noise downtown, so unless it rains, I think the race will go on.

Some of the people who live in the condos make plans to be out of town during the race, because it is so noisy. So, that is a good place for me to stay away from this weekend!

As I was putting sheets in the washer this morning, I saw two ducks sitting in the yard next door very close to my door, and a squirrel on the roof sitting in the rain gutter, looking down at the ducks.  But, like squirrels always do, he did not stay quiet for long, and then he was off. I don't really know why the ducks come on this street, because we have no water close by, except for a little still in the street gutters.

Our mail is coming later and later. Yesterday it did not come until 6 PM. I have heard that none of the carriers want to bid on this route for some reason. Oh, well, God is still good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 1:9-14

So we have continued  praying for you, ever since we first heard about you.
We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he
wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with
spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will always honor and please
the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All
the while you will learn to know God better and better.

We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that
you will have all the patience and endurance that you need. May you
be filled with joy, always thanking the Father, who has enabled you
to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who
live in the light. For he has rescued us from the one who rules
in the kingdom of darkness, and he has brought us into the Kingdom
of his dear Son. God has purchased our freedom  with his blood
and has forgiven all our sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Opportunity

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I expected sunshine today, but so far, only clouds. From the looks of the radar, we will be getting rain sometime soon. We had a touch of less humid weather yesterday, but today the humidity is coming back.

My cleaning team is down to one, since Kim had knee surgery last week. Cheryl has been cleaning houses by herself and yesterday, she had a really rough day...one very large house with an alarm system that went off when she got there, an extra home she had canceled, but had to do anyway at the request of the owners, and so she didn't get here until almost 3 PM. But she is always cheerful and seemingly tireless. So the house is clean for another week!

I had to go to CVS to pick up some stuff and a couple scrips and also some creme eggs yum!, and then on to the Park, which was pretty well crowded once again. I don't understand why the water in the canal is so low, just about the lowest I have seen. But it could be due to the dredging they are still working on in the lake.I did not see any herons, but did see the gopher tortoise nibbling on some grass. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How Can I face challenging, sometimes intimidating, opportunities?

Philippians 4:13 I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the
strength I need.

Our ability to face challenges is rooted in Christ, not in ourselves. With Christ's help,
we can make the most of every opportunity.

Revelation 3:8 I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for
you that no one can shut. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word,
and did not deny me!

We can trust that nothing will prevent us from fulfilling the opportunity God has for us.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Paul's Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Brrr! The fifties and sixties may not seem cold to those in the twenties and thirties, but I turned on the heat this morning and I am still not too warm. It was 54 when I rolled out of my nice, warm bed and 66 in the house. Chilly to me! But the sun is shining and it will warm up soon.

I got an all clear from my doctor yesterday, lungs clear, and heart good, so I guess I am good for another few miles. Talk about old magazines in the office...I looked at one in the examining room that was from 1996! The doc is always interested in what I do, and I told him I was reading a book, so he wanted to know the title and author and talked about the mystery books he had read. I told him mine was a "chick" book, then mentioned I had read most of John Grisham's books, which he had, too. They did not seem too busy yesterday, so I guess most of the tourists have gone home.

After I left the doc's office, I stopped at Romance Jewelers to get a couple watch batteries. Roger was alone, as usual, so we caught up on what was going on in each other's lives. He has a daughter who has a heart problem they have dealt with, but she is doing fine. Since I had two children with heart problems, we have that in common.

I drove on to the park and discovered it was almost full. But the roads and everything is covered with oak tree blossoms and pollen was everywhere! Not a good place to go for people with allergies! The water was still low, which was fine with the ibis who were pecking along the muddy banks again. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Ephesians 3:14-21

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan,
I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of
everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his
glorious, unlimited resources, he will give you mighty
inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that
Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts
as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into
the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the
power to understand. as all God's people should, how
wide, how long, how deep his love really is. May you
experience the love of Christ , though it is so great you
will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled
with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within
us , he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would
ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through
endless ages. Amen

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalm 139

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Rain is still dripping off the roof, but blue skies are peeking through the clouds and the rain is supposed to be over with for now. Meanwhile, the wind is supposed to pick up and the cold front will come through this afternoon, so we will have one last taste of winter as we come to the end of March.

I did not leave the house yesterday, because of the weather, but today I have a check up appointment to keep and two watches that need new batteries, so looks like I will be going out this afternoon. That's when the wind is supposed to pick up. Sigh. Makes for a bad hair day!

The yard guys were here this morning for about five minutes. They only had time to blow off the driveway and porch before it started raining again. It makes it hard to keep up with their work, but they should be able to catch up this afternoon. So, God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 139:1-6,22-24

O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my every thought when far away.
You chart the path ahead of me
and tell me where to stop and rest.
Every moment you know where I am.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord
You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to know!

Search me, O God, and know my heart,
test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Forgiveness

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, I did not expect to wake up to rain , because I thought the prediction was for rain starting this evening.  This serves a good purpose, though, because the pollen was getting bad again. There are seeds from the oak trees every place!  My front yard and the back, also, are covered with a carpet of seeds. So, the rain dampens down the airborne dust and that's a good thing!

There was a scarce crowd at church yesterday, because of spring break. I know of at least two families who have gone on cruises, and several people were racing at Ft. DeSoto, so I think the regulars will be back next week. I had two visitors sitting on either end of my row, so people are still coming in.

It looks like my birthday balloons have finally given up floating...the last two are sitting on the hearth, so I will cut them up today. Sigh. It was so thoughtful of Mari to buy all those pretty balloons just for me! I have really enjoyed them!

I drove to the park after church yesterday, which is doubly covered with oak seeds and leaves. I was surprised to see how low the water in the canal was. I really don't know the reason for that. But lots of people were walking dogs, having picnics and watching the ibis and herons fishing along the muddy banks. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Can any sin be forgiven?

Mark 3:28-29
I assure you that any sin can be forgiven, including blasphemy, but anyone
who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. It is an eternal sin.

Romans 8:38
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love.
Death can't and life can't . The angels can't, and the demons can't . Our fears for today ,

our worries about tomorrow , and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.

Forgiveness is not based on the magnitude of the sin, but the magnitude of the
forgiver's love. No sin is too great for God 's complete and unconditional love. The
Bible does, however, mention one unforgivable sin---harboring an attitude of defiant
hostility toward God that prevents us from accepting his forgiveness. Those who
don't want his forgiveness place themselves out of its reach.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy
and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Phlippin' thru Philippians

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Yes, it is still morning for another hour or so.. It is another beautiful day and looks like it will be good weather for the MacDill airfest going on tomorrow.

I mostly stayed around the house yesterday, staying out of the sun on my wounded face. It will be another week or more before the scab on my nose comes off. Meanwhile the two spots on the right cheek are still prominent and I do not like them! Ah, vanity is thy name, even at my advanced age!

I drove over to the park late in the afternoon, and quite a few people were there, including those with cameras. There is always something to photograph, even if it is just seeing the natural Florida, which the banks of the canal look like. I saw a black turtle sunning on the banks of the weir on the way in, and the sun was high and bright! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Philippians 4:4-9
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again, rejoice!
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.
Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do
this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more
wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace
will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now,  dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more
thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is
true and honorable and right. Think about things that are
pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that
are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice
all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me
doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, with thanksgiving joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 84

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Cool with lots of sun today, and promises to warm up later on. Almost perfect!

Well,I went to see my dermatologist yesterday, and as a result, I have a spotty face. He took a biopsy of my nose and froze two spots on the left side and two on the right of my face, so I am not looking too good. It really hurt when he put the needle in the side of my nose, but I have had that done before and I try to be brave. I am praying the the biopsy will come back negative for cancer and would appreciate your prayers, also.

I wrote of the tiny pretty bird yesterday, and as nearly as I can figure out, according to the Peterson Guide, it is a warbler. The yellow and black coloring matches and he really is a gorgeous little critter!.

After I left the doc's office (got in and out in just thirty minutes, a record), I decided to go to Publix and get the groceries I needed if I could get  a parking space close to the front door. Well, God answered the little prayer. Just as I approached the store, a car pulled out right in front!

I got everything on my short list, and then some, and a young man came to bag the goods, then said he would help me out. He asked if I wanted to push the cart, but I told him I would use my cane and lead the way. He was so thoughtful to realize I needed the support. He didn't look like he was out of his teens, yet. Shopping was a pleasure!

Then I cruised through the Park, which had lots of visitors on such a pretty day. I saw that the water had gone down already, so the muddy banks were showing which makes the ibis happy, because they can get to the grubs easier. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 84:10-12
A single day in your courts is better than a
thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
For the Lord God is our light and protector;
he gives us grace and glory.
No good thing will the Lord withhold
from those who do what is right.
O Lord Almighty, happy are those who trust in you!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Teaching about Prayer and Fasting

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sunshine and cool temps make for a beautiful day! I just saw a gorgeous tiny bird in the hedge outside my bedroom window! Bright yellow breast, black band around the neck, black head and black top feathers! I will have to consult my bird book to see what kind it was! It was about the size of a canary...

Well, I got to the library yesterday, and came out loaded down with books! There is a new librarian who looks like the least likely candidate for that particular occupation that I can think of. He is scruffy looking, wears baggy jeans, a scuffy bearded face, but who knows what lurks behind the outward appearance? Not my idea of" Marian, the librarian"!

After I left the library, I headed for the park, where I had to avoid a mother with two small children. I have found that moms with little ones try to keep them under their wings, but one cannot be too careful when driving by. I noticed the water was up from all the rain, when it was down last weekend. Lots of hydrilla washed down from the lake and was floating everywhere.
But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 6:7-15

"When you pray, don't babble on and on as people
of other religions do. They think their prayers are
answered by repeating their words again and again.
Don't be like them, because your Father knows
exactly what you need even before you ask him!

Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be honored.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done here on earth
just as it is in heaven.
Give us our food for today
and forgive us our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who
have sinned against us.
And don't let us yield to temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."

If you forgive those who sin against you,
your heavenly Father will forgive you. But
if you refuse to forgive others, your Father
will not forgive your sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

The Beatitudes

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The stormy weather has cleared out and we have lots of sunshine and a cool breeze. I hope this is the last of the cold weather because spring is just around the corner.

My porch and yard are a mess from the high winds. I will have to go out and get sticks and twigs off the front, pick up a plant that blew over, and the large twigs that are on the sidewalk. I don't know if the yard men are coming today or not, because they are probably busy catching up with the lawns they were unable to do because of the weather. It's very hard on people who have to work outside!

Needless to say, I stayed in all day. Since I just recovered from bronchitis, I did not think it wise to brave the rain to go anywhere. But God is good, and I can go out and about today when I finish laundry!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 5:3-12
God blesses those who realize their need for him,"
for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.
God blesses those who mourn,
For they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are gentle and lowly,
for the whole earth will belong to them.
God blesses those who are hungry
 and thirsty for justice,
for they will receive it in full.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.

God blesses those who are persecuted
because they live for God
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

God blesses you when you are mocked  and
persecuted and lied about because you are
my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad!
For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And
remember the ancient people who were persecuted, too.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Top of the Mornin'! Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is a dark and windy morning, with storms headed for us in an hour or two or maybe less. I have been watching radar and the large band of stormy weather is slowly moving toward Pinellas, with maybe tornado watches in the future.

Well, the pollen will be wetted down once again, so allergies will be helped for a little while. The oak pollen was piled up everywhere yesterday, even at church. Speaking of church, it was good to see Don and Peggy Logue there for the wedding of Jessie Bowman and her fiance. They look really good for great grandparents!

It was really good to be back at church for the first time this month...good to be all healed from the nasty bout of bronchitis I had! Pastor Dave has a lot of good stories to tell along with his sermons, since he is retired and has lots of memories.

I drove over to the park several times during the weekend and the leaves and seeds were all over the roads and sidewalks! not a good place to be if you have allergies. I noticed a wood stork and a flock of seagulls, taking in the sun as I rounded Lynch Lake. They were enjoying the sun amidst lots of palm fronds, which were blown down due to the strong winds! But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

2 Corinthians 2:14

But thanks be to God, who made us his captives and
leads us along in Christ's triumphal procession. Now
wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord
and to spread the Good News like a sweet perfume. Our
lives are a fragrance presented by Christ to God. But this
fragrance is is perceived differently by those being saved
and by those perishing. To those who are perishing  we are
a fearful small of death and doom. But to those who are
being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is
adequate for such a task such as this? ...We preach God's
message with sincerity and with Christ's authority. and we
know that the God who sent us is watching us.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

The Power of Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We got our chilly weather as predicted but it will soon warm up and at least we have lots of sunshine. It is a beautiful day!

I swept off the porch late yesterday. It was full of leaves and oak seeds, but the wind had been blowing so strongly, that it would have been useless earlier to sweep. I noticed that the chairs were covered with a fine, yellow dusting of pollen just as  cars that sit outside are. A bad time of the year for allergies.

My amaryllis have not shown signs of blooms yet, although the leaves look strong and healthy so far. I drove by a house in the neighborhood which has a nice circle of amaryllis blooming. Sigh. Maybe one year mine will do better. I know they are planted too deep. They need the tops of the bulbs to show, which mine do not.

I got over to the Park yesterday and saw a line of people looking over the entrance bridge down into the water, with the teacher in the middle. They were from Benedict Haven..a nice outing for them. I also saw a flock of ibis on the muddy bank, looking pristine in their whiteness against the mud. So graceful when they take off! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

James 5:13-16
Are any among you suffering? They should keep on
praying about it. And those who have reason to be
thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord.

Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders
of the church and have them pray over them, anointing
them with oil in the name of the Lord. And their prayer
offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make
them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be
forgiven.

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other
so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous
person has great power and wonderful results.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love.

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalm 139

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have a windy, sunshiny day with cooler temps and expecting to get even cooler as the day goes on. But, the weekend will be warm and beautiful!

I am blessed with such a good neighbor and friend, Cheryl! She is one of the team who cleans my house. This morning, the dumpster was set down with the lid up, and the wind blew it over half into the street, so Cheryl called and said she was bringing it back up, and not to be scared if I heard something outside. That was so nice of her, because I was not sure I could pick it up without some difficulty! She is so thoughtful!

I woke up with a headache today, because the phone rang at 1:38 AM. I got up, turned on the light and read the caller ID, which was not identified. I think it was the wrong number, but, of course, I had a lot of trouble getting back to sleep; thus, the headache.

Yesterday, my ladies came in the afternoon and cleaned up the mess left behind in the tub after I had the plumber here opening up the pipe in the backyard. After they left, I took off for the Park and saw a crowd of kids around the big gopher tortoise. One of the little boys, bravely stooped down and quickly touched the gopher's back and got right back up. I had to smile, because the critters are not harmful in any way, but, obviously, the boy did not know that. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 139:23,24
Search me ,O God, and know my heart,
test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Paul's Thanksgiving and Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I can see blue sky from my window, but rain is dripping off the roof, so the prediction is spot on this morning, which called for rain. The wind is supposed to pick up and bring the cold front in, so this may be the last one of the winter, because spring is most definitely here, no matter what the calendar says!

Due to the mess in the bathrooms and the back up when the washing machine was going, I did not get out yesterday, But Inman plumbers came out and he rooted out the pipe in the back and got rid of the roots causing the problem.  Because of the two large oak trees in the back yard, I have to have that done every couple years. But all is well, and flowing freely! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 1:9-14
So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.

We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance that you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father , who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 28

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sunshine and warm temps on tap again today! The weather starts out cool in the morning but warms up quickly. So perfect!

I got my final check up from the NPR yesterday and she said she almost called me to see how I was doing, but decided no news was good news. She is a caring person. I still have sinus problems, but am feeling much better and almost well. She said her mom was coming down for a visit from Canada..ninety years old and living independently. She admires strong and independent women. My situation may change in the blink of an eye, I realize, but I always wonder why my age causes some people to think I am decrepit! I admit I cannot do some things I used to, but all in all, I have earned the right to do what I want, and hire the rest done!

Speaking of that, I have a mystery going on my my bathrooms. Yesterday I found small puddles beside both toilets. After mopping them up, I put down towels to soak up any more water, but none showed up! There is still no water on the floors this morning, but I called my handy man any way, and he may come over tomorrow early if it is not raining, and see if he
can find the problem. Very strange...

After I left the doc's office, I went to the park, and saw a lot fewer visitors than the day before. One volunteer was cleaning out the canal just before the weir, which was much needed. I noticed the canal has a fine coating of oak seeds on it, but several ibis were pecking along the marshy  bank, looking like a typical Florida painting. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 28:6

Praise the Lord!
For he has heard my cry for mercy.
The Lord is my strength, my shield from every danger.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled  with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Faith brings Joy

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is still cool at night but the days are just perfect! Sunshine and warm and just a small breeze.

Brian is in Milwaukee for training for the next three days, so he is experiencing much cooler weather.  He invited me to a meal Sat. night at Jack's London Grill. After the good review in the Times we should have known better. The former Pizza Hut was packed with people waiting, but we were able to get a seat and waited about 20 minutes for a table, then after we got seated in a booth, we waited just as long to get someone to take our order. Unfortunately, they have not worked out the routine for taking care of a crowd. We happened to get the manager/owner for our waiter and he did not know much about what he should do. But when the food finally came, after we had been there an hour, it was good. Brian had fish and chips and I had Shepherd's pie. Very tasty. I would probably go back, but not on Sat. night!

I have my last checkup scheduled for this afternoon, but I am almost well, Praise God! I am having a hard time adjusting to the DST, as I always do. It takes me about three days to get used to it. Sigh.

I went to gas up the van yesterday, after missing another Sunday at church, and stopped in at the Park on the way. Wow! It was packed! There were only a few parking spaces left, because of the crowd. The weather was beautiful and people were really enjoying it. The gators should be on the prowl, now, since this is spring and mating season, and it is always exciting to see them! The ospreys are nesting high up on the light poles. There is a nest at Sawgrass Elem. school, and one in the Publix parking lot. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems
and trials, for we know that they are good for us--
they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops
strength of character in us, and character strengthens
our confident expectation of salvation. And this
expectation will not disappoint us. Fpr we know how
dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy
Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
 joy and love!

Jesus, the True Vine

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The wind has picked up and the trees are really twisting and throwing off the seeds, but we have a lot of sun and a lot of clouds. Since it rained nearly all day yesterday, with the weak sun coming out just before sunset, it is good to see sunshine again!

We had tornado warnings and lots of thunder along with the rain yesterday, so I canceled my appointment with the NPR. I thought it was not a good idea to go out in the rain, since I am still healing from the bronchitis. I am happy to say it looks like I am almost through with the coughing, but still have sinus problems, and sound like I am still sick. I feel better than I sound. Also, my lips have healed, including the rawness inside. Still don't know what caused that!
But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

John 15:5
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.
those who remain in me, and I in them, will
produce much fruit. For apart from me you
can do nothing. Anyone who parts from me
is thrown away like a useless branch and withers.
Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
But if you stay joined to me and my words remain
in you, you may ask any request you like and it
will be granted! My true disciples produce much
fruit. This brings much glory to my Father...

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 106

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have our rain as predicted and thunder keeps sounding off in the distance, but the temp has not dropped, so we are still at 70 and all is good. We really needed the rain to dampen down the pollen. So this should do it nicely.

Maybe the weather will clear before I have to go to the doc's this afternoon. Otherwise, I will have to use my umbrella and hope to stay dry. I am not coughing so much, so am slowly getting better, which is a good thing!

I went shopping for a little bit yesterday and drove on to the park where I saw a young mom squatting down to take a picture of the large gopher tortoise, face to face. They are so common to us natives, but not so much to visitors. A large flock of ibis were pecking their way through the neighborhood yesterday. They are so interesting to watch, because they are intent on what they are doing, yet seem to know just what the rest of the crowd is up to , and they move in together. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 106:1-3 48
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Who can ever praise him half enough?
Happy are those who deal justly with
others and always do what is right....

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
Let all the people say, "Amen!"

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

A Call to Persevere

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had a lot of fog earlier and i thought maybe rain was coming, but then it cleared off and once again we have sun, clouds and temps in the low seventies. It looks like the cold front that was predicted is stalled over the northern part of Fl. So, our warm spring weather continues!

I can see a tiny, mango already which has formed on the tree next door, so there must be many more on the tree that I cannot see. I saw lots of mango seeds on the ground last year, which means critters besides humans enjoyed the fruit. Strawberries are plentiful right now, and the Festival is going on, so this is a good time for produce.

I am slowly feeling better, and the cough is improving. My lips are not quite as swollen as they were, but are still raw inside. Still do not know what caused that condition!  But I got to the audiologist yesterday and bought some batteries, and then to the library for some books. I always like to have something on hand to read.

The leaves seem to be almost off the trees, but now the seeds are collecting and falling, so allergies are kicking in. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Hebrews 10:21-25
And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God's people,
let us go right into the presence of God with true hearts
fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled
with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have
been washed with pure water.

Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we say
we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of
ways to encourage one another with outbursts of love and good deeds.
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do,
but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day
of his coming back again is drawing near.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

The Lord's Faithfulness

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I saw the sunrise and then the clouds rolled in, so now we have partially clear skies. But it is warm already, in the seventies this early, so it will be a beautiful day for Fat Tuesday.

I visited the NPR again yesterday and she was concerned about my "Botox" lips. I am, too, because I don't know what has caused the swelling, but they are kinda raw inside. I have so many allergies to different things, it is always a puzzle to figure out what is causing what. I am off all meds for the bronchitis, including cough medication, but the lips are still swollen. Cece, the nurse, liked the look. She said it reminded her of Angelina Jolie. I had to laugh at that! I am still coughing and have congestion, but feel better than last week. Cathy, the nurse wants to see me again Thursday, so I am being taken care of. For those of you who are praying I get better soon, please keep the prayers coming!

After I left the office, I treated myself to a strawberry milkshake and took it to the park to  enjoy. Not too many people, but a lone seagull was perched along the railing by the lake. The oak leaves are blanketing everything in the park. They are not blown off any more because of the lack of workers. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Lamentations 3:27-29

The unfailing love of the Lord never ends!
By his mercies we have been kept
from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself,
"The Lord is my inheritance; therefore I will
hope in him!" The Lord is wonderfully
good to those who wait for him and seek him.
So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.
And it is good for the young to submit to the yoke of his discipline.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 89

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Warm sun and cool breezes is how the day is starting. Just about perfect! One sour note is that the pollen count is very high, and I see yellow dust on a lot of cars. Also, the oak trees are seeding which makes for messes for a lot of yards where the oaks are old and large. This is my neighborhood. Well, at least the wind is blowing the last of the leaves off the trees, hopefully.

I have had acute bronchitis for the last week, which is not gone yet, but I am slowly getting better. I have been to the doc and finished my antibiotics, so now I am just waiting for the congestion and coughing to leave. I was coughing so hard, I thought I would break a rib!  I was told that a particularly bad strain of bronchitis is making the rounds. Don't have a clue as to where I picked it up, but will be glad when it is gone!

I was able to drive to the drugstore and other places I needed to go, including the park a couple times, but for the most part, just stayed home and let Brian do for me when he was able. Daryl was calling every morning to check on me, so I felt well cared for. And chicken soup does taste good when the appetite is gone.

I saw a tiny wren like bird in the hibiscus next door yesterday...yellow breast and dark feathers. I only see them in the winter, but it was so cute! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 89:1,2

I will sing of the tender mercies of the Lord forever!
Young and old will hear of your faithfulness.
Your unfailing love will last forever.
Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,
 Amaryllis
