Blessed Assurance

Good chilly morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, our warming trend is supposed to take place today, and while I welcome the opportunity to wear winter clothes again, I have to admit that I prefer it a little warmer.

Yesterday, I didn't take a long walk because of the wind and chill, but I did take a short walk along the sidewalk, and saw the trees that had bent almost to the water from the storm and one branch was in the water. Terry said a large maple had broken off and fell on the rail of the boardwalk on the hammock trail. The Park was a mess of moss and branches from the storm, and so was our front yard. We didn't have the moss, but lots of leaves and twigs and branches from the oak trees. The front porch was piled with leaves, which I swept off. Hard to do against the wind, but I got it pretty clean. But God is good, because we did not have a tornado like Land O Lakes!

Our confidence is rooted in God's hold on us, not our grip on God. His mercy and love are eternally new and never exhausted..

How can I be assured of God's love in difficult times?

Isaiah 43:1-2 "Now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says," Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you."

Life's circumstances don't come between God and his people. They don't get in God's way. Hard times are often when God reveals his infinite love and care for us.

Jammin' thru James

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the cool day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This may be the last day of our 80ish weather if the cold front comes through this weekend. I heard a prediction that rain will come, and if so, it will be really appreciated. We are dry!

I was noticing at the Park yesterday, that the sprinklers are working again, because the grass is greener than it has been. The gators seem to be hiding lately, but I am sure they are someplace under the water or off in the shrubbery. Terry came over after work and put up our outside Christmas lights, so we look festive on this side of the street. The other side is pretty bright already. Terry also invited us to the outside party they always have at Christmas, so we will go. Hope it is not too cold next week! But God has blessed us with great friends! He is Good!

Endurance

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the lovely day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It's a cool 69 degrees outside this morning and a little mist earlier, but the stars were shining brightly and no clouds visible. We have another warm day in store for us, but cooler this weekend. And that's the weather report!

I enjoyed the shade on my walk yesterday, because the sun was blinding and quite warm. The leaves are still falling from the maple trees and so I scuffed along the boardwalk, looking for the birds I heard, but couldn't see them. The shrubbery is still quite thick from the trees and bushes that do not shed, so it is difficult to see through them.

I stood on the second level of the tower, exchanging greetings with a regular, and let the wind cool my face, while I watched a skimmer dive down into the water. It did not come up with a fish, however, but circled around to try again. A green heron flew and landed on a branch underneath the anhinga who picks the same tree each morning to dry his wings. Also, I was thrilled to see a roseate spoonbill perched on a limb over the canal. They are so pretty! God is Awesome!

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the air was much cooler, so I opened a couple windows. Venus was brilliant in the East and the other stars were visible in the night sky.

The Park is getting busier this time of year... different tags from many different states are seen on the cars. Looks like our winter visitors are already here, escaping from the ice storms and snow in many states. We are supposed to get cooler weather this weekend and I am kinda looking forward to it, but we need rain badly. The water in the park is way down and the special spot where I always stop and look for bunnies and whatever else is there, is now dry. In God's timing, it will come. God is good!

Discernment

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, I turned on the A/C yesterday, because the house was so warm and since today's high will be almost 85, the A/C will stay on!

As I stepped outside this morning, I noticed the wispy clouds were hiding Venus, but stars were visible in the western sky and shining brightly. It will be a much better day here than in the snowy, icy north!

As I walked yesterday, I enjoyed the breeze on my skin, but was too warm when I finished. Leaves are still falling as I scuff through them, admiring the different colors. I watched a green heron gazing intently at the water, and then I saw one on the other side of the tower. Someone had thrown an orange into the water, and a critter was after it, making it swirl and bounce around the water, but I never could see what it was. I suspect a turtle was biting on it. They probably don't mind the sour taste, but the oranges make great pies! God is Good!

Discernment is the ability to interpret events and to understand the true nature of people and situations. Discernment is an aspect of wisdom. It enables us to see behind the facades that mask the truth. Discernment shows the way through the maze of options that face us. Like the sun that burns away the fog, discernment cuts through confusion and distractions. Whereas the devil is "the father of lies" God is the father of truth, and he gives discernment to those who seek it.

Work

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the cool day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside in the cool darkness this morning, I noticed Venus shining brightly, but this is the time when we don't see the moon for awhile. I almost turned on the A/C yesterday, the house was so warm. I am sure that winter is on the way, though... some day!

Have you noticed all the woodstorks around all the waterways lately? Seems like there are more than usual. We have several ditches and lakes near our house and there are always woodstorks, just standing, looking very depressed when their heads are drawn in and beaks are pointing down. I always enjoy looking at them... also, hundreds of birds on the lines all around the neighborhood. Must be very cold in the north now, to bring so many of them to town.

We saw lots of people at the Park over the weekend.. having picnics and family get togethers. The squirrels always come up and beg but they won't eat just anything. Unlike most of us they are particular about their diets. But God is great!

Faithful work makes a way for us to do greater work. God promises to bless us as we use the gifts he has given us.

Proverbs 21:5 "Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty."

Colossians 3:23-24 "Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your servant, and the Master you are serving is Christ."

God promises a reward to those who work hard. That reward can include - but is not limited to - financial prosperity. It may be the rewards of respect and personal satisfaction or the joy of contributing to the welfare of another. How will God help me when my work is hard?

Psalm 145:14 "The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads."

As with any burden we bear, we can trust God to help us on the job.

Be careful when you eat a mouse!

Good afternoon Dear riends and Prayer partners!

Just thought I would tell you about a conversation I had with Terry and Steve at the Park yesterday. Steve came out of the building with a very long corn snake wrapped around his neck. He said the snake was cold, even though the hot rock was in the cage overnight.

He also told about the large black snake they have that has been sick, the snake had an abscess on its head caused by a broken tooth.

When I asked how the tooth got broken, he said probably from a mouse bone. He had to take the snake to a vet and now has to give it injections by lifting up a scale and shooting it through the skin.

The moral to this little tale is... be careful when you eat a mouse!

Thoughts for the Day

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

When I stepped outside this morning, Venus and the moon had disappeared! But in the west and directly overhead, I could see all the stars and in the darkness, I stood still and saw a tiny light blinking far above...a plane I am sure flying swiftly to its destination.

Yesterday I enjoyed the breeze on my face as I walked on the boardwalk. I was a little later than usual walking , but there were not many people, so it was good, I could hear little rustlings in the shrubbery, but could not see the creatures making the noise. Did not see any gators or babies, but they are around somewhere, I am sure.

As I approached the bridge, I could see reflected in the calm water, the trees and ibis. Occasionally, a great white heron is posing, while intently gazing at the water, looking for that elusive fish. A great picture of Florida! God is good!

Fulfillment

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the cool day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! All early risers who looked at the sky this morning, would have seen Venus brilliant in the eastern sky and the equally brilliant crescent moon hanging low in the eastern sky. Myriads of stars all trying to outdo each other! God is Awesome!

A fat, black, sleek looking gator was sunning himself on the bank of the canal yesterday at the Park and anhingas, as usual, were spreading out their wings and drying them. Great white herons and tri-colored herons were also busy hunting for fish and whatever else they could find. I haven't seen my catbirds for a couple weeks and am looking forward to seeing them again.

But there is so much of God's Creation to see and hear, if we only take time. I am thankful that the Park is just one mile from my home. It is easy to get to and a place of peace.

Fulfillment is something for which every person seems to long. In its simplest meaning, fulfillment refers to being "fully filled"--having a complete sense of accomplishment.

If you lack a sense of fulfillment at day's end, ask yourself, "what did I not do that I felt I should have done?" You'll be calling into question your values, priorities, and goals. As you see areas in which you have fallen short, ask the Lord to help you discipline yourself to achieve what you know is good, adjust your priorities and goals, and refine your values.

A lack of fulfillment isn't the fault of circumstances or another person's behavior. To experience fulfillment, your outer life must be in harmony with your inner life; you must live outwardly what you profess with your mouth and believe in your heart.

There's time to make today fulfilling. Take a moment to reflect upon your goals, priorities, and values. Ask the Lord to show you where they may need some adjusting. As you rethink these important issues, you will be filled with the knowledge that true fulfillment comes in simply knowing and obeying Him.

Wisdom

Good chilly morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! Temps down in the lower fifties mean the furnace is on in the house and we are wearing our cool weather duds! But this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! And we will be glad knowing that it will soon warm up to eighty again!

How Great Thou Art was what I thought when I looked up at the early morning sky! Venus and the crescent moon were only about five feet apart to my earthly eyes and shining gloriously! What a display! God is awesome!

I walked to the second bridge at the park yesterday to check out the sour orange trees. I have a request for a sour orange pie already. I don't think the oranges are quite ready yet, although I picked one from off the ground and brought it home, and it looks okay. I can't tell by the taste because they are so sour.

I enjoyed the serenity of the water, with the reflections of the trees and anhingas in it. The breeze was still, so no movement was visible...just a little ripple now and then from the fish hidden below. God's creation is marvelous!

Wisdom produces honor in our lives and protects us from trouble. Wise people know the difference between right and wrong and choose to do what's right. More than that, wisdom is choosing to apply God's truth and principles to our daily relationships and situations.

Planning, con't

Good chilly morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, we finally have another taste of December weather to get us all in the mood for Christmas! The weather will soon warm up again, though, so we enjoy the coolness while we can.

Yesterday I was quite warm when I finished my walk, but did stop to enjoy the cool wind that was blowing the cool front our way. I kept hearing the hawks calling to each other, in fact, it seemed like three or four, so I kept looking up toward the canal and, sure enough, there was one high in a dead tree, fluffing and preening. I never spotted the other across the canal, though, so I don't know where it was. I walked on to the tower and saw a green heron intently gazing at the water. They are always so fierce looking and close to the water on a branch. The gallinule couple were still pecking around and looking like they were walking on water, because they require such tiny water foliage to walk on.

For the first time, the maple leaves were falling on me as I walked, They are red and brown and gold... very pretty in the fall.

I chatted with Terry for a minute or two, but he was busy ordering supplies. He always takes time for me. He's a man with lots of responsibilities.

God is Awesome!

Jeremiah 29:11 "I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Do not doubt God's good intentions for us. the wonder of creation, the evidence of his constant care, and the priceless gift of Jesus Christ for our salvation give us confidence that he will establish all who trust in him.

Planning

Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! If any of you early risers stepped outside this morning, you would have seen the glory of Venus and the crescent moon shining brilliantly in the southeastern sky! God created the heavens for us to enjoy! And to marvel at His artistry.

This is a little late this morning, due to the PC not connecting with the internet for some reason. Anyway, here I am and ready for a Monday as I hope you all are.

I had a funny experience with one of the squirrels living in our oak tree. He was fussing and fussing and I looked up to find him, and discovered him looking down at me from high up. So I asked him what was wrong and he scampered down the long branch and sat right over my head fussing. I went into the garage and brought out two peanuts and placed one on the tree where he likes to sit (sometimes I put crunchy peanut butter on it). Well, anyway, curiosity got the best of him, so he raced down the tree, picked up the peanut and climbed back up to eat it. This family of squirrels is not as friendly as the old family, but they moved on. God is good!

A plan is only as good as the information upon which it is based . Our human intellect is limited and inadequate. Apart from the Lord, our plans are liable to fail. The Lord promises wisdom to those who rely on his word and depend on his Spirit.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths."

As we seek God he will guide us in making our plans.
