Hope

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Our rain came later yesterday, so it was good to be able to get out and run errands in the morning. Everything is very wet and drippy this morning and I have a young lizard staring at me from the curtain behind this PC. He has been in the house about a week. I wish Matthew was still with us, because he is a great lizard catcher!

The water at the Park is very high now and plentiful. The trees that are touching the water, seem to be even lower, now, so I guess the tree crew will have to come in and remove them. They have to get in a boat and work in the mud... quite a job! But God is good and we need the rain.

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 146: 5-10 Happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He is the one who keeps every promise forever; who gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts the burdens of those bent beneath their loads. the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord protects the foreigners among their loads. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever, O Jerusalem, your God is King for every generation! Praise the Lord!

Our hope is rooted in the wonderful acts of God in creation and history. the Bible gives full testimony to the fact that God is able to deliver us from any and every circumstance. He will either get us out of it or bring us through it--for his glory and our joy.

I pray that God , who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalm 91

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside early this morning, the very thin crescent moon was low in the east and cupped. I could see the shadow of the rest of the moon above it. Awesome! It probably won't be visible at all tomorrow, as it completes it cycle.

Well, once again yesterday, we had a rainy morning, but a hot, sunny afternoon! The towering white clouds are showing this morning, but, so far, no rain. We did our errands yesterday afternoon after the rain and took a ride through the drippy Park. Quite a few people there, and workers cleaning out the weir, where all the washed down trash accumulates.

An anhinga was drying its wings on one of the rails and a tourist stopped his car and walked over to see it. I wish he could have seen a great white heron slapping a fish, trying to swallow it! Now, that's a sight! God is Marvelous!

Psalm 91 NLT:

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High,
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare of the Lord
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety"
he is my God, and I am trusting him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from the fatal plague.
He will shield you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor fear the dangers of the day,
nor dread the plague that stalks in Darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around
you, these evils will not touch you.
But you will see how the wicked are punished.

If you make the Lord your refuge,
If you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your dwelling.
For he orders his angels
to protect you wherever you go.

They will hold you with their hands
to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.
They will trample down lions and poisonous snakes:
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet.

The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer:
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue them and honor them.
I will satisfy them with a long life
and give them my salvation."

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Benediction

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

When I stepped outside this morning, in the dark, the thin moon was shining brightly with stars twinkling all around, now, however, I hear the "rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed." How Great Thou Art!" And the rain just started!

Well, the Mexican petunias are loving the rain. They are a lovely purple and the crape myrtle is pink and just about through blooming. Strangely enough, this rain has brought blooms to the azaleas in the hot summer! God is good!

We drove through the Park in the heat of the afternoon, yesterday and saw quite a few cars there...people walking in the heat and not seeming to mind it. I know that after this rain quits this morning, the sun will come out and we will be hot again. But that's okay, after all this is Florida in summer!

From Quiet Moments with God:

The very God of Peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. "
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NIV

A benediction is the pronouncing of a divine blessing. It is usually associated with the final words of a worship service, given by a spiritual leader, but you can give yourself a benediction right where your are, this very day!

The only requirement for a benediction is this; that no sin or unforgiveness stands between you and the Lord Jesus Christ. If you question the purity of your heart, today is a good time to ask the Lord to cleanse you and renew a right spirit within you.

Then pronounce this benediction upon yourself. Speak it with faith and boldness, in full confidence that the Lord desires this blessing to take root in you and bear good fruit. If you have a family, you may want to pronounce a blessing on them or on each member individually.

The benediction inscribed at Gloucester Cathedral is one you may want to use:

Go on your way in peace.
Be of good courage.
Hold fast that which is good.
Render to no man evil for evil.
Strengthen the fainthearted.
Support the weak.
Help and cheer the sick.
Honor all men.
Love and serve the Lord.
May the blessing of God be upon you
And remain with you forever.
So be it. And have a blessed good night!

It is distrust of God to be troubled
about what is to come.
Impatience against God
to be troubles with what is
present; and anger at God to
be troubled for what is past.
Simon Patrick

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

almost noon devotional

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! Who knew we would have a rainy morning? When I stepped outside about 5:30am, the crescent moon was shining brightly amongst the sparkly stars in the eastern sky, which was clear at the time. Well, anyway, this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

On my way the dentist, which is why I am so late, I saw a beautiful rainbow right in front as we traveled west for awhile! God is Awesome!

I walked Saturday morning out to Mama Gator's nest and spoke to her. The water is now so high that she is completely covered except for her head. I saw lots of lizards running about, and once more, dragonflies flitting all around, hopefully catching mosquitoes. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Why should I be faithful?

Proverbs 3:3-4
Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace, write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation.

One of our greatest securities in life is that of a good name. Faithfulness brings a good reputation and trust from others. When we have problems, sometimes our reputation can be the key to a positive outcome.

Hebrews 3:14 if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

A reward in heaven awaits those who are faithful to God. Faithfulness brings eternal rewards.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Greetings from Paul

Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the sunshiny day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside in the predawn light, I could not see the moon, but it was good to see that the sky is mostly clear and no rain yet. Not that I mind the rain, we really need it, but the sun is always welcome, too. God is good!

Because of the rain, I didn't go out until afternoon to do some errands, so I drove through the Park and saw a few people had ventured out. There are always people walking their dogs... that is a popular place for dogs. Another of the trees has fallen over and is touching the water in the canal, but will be taken care of eventually.

One of the long-time workers was mowing, and the other was collecting trash, while they wait to see if they still have jobs in September. Big changes are coming up... not all good. But God is Sovereign and He is in Control!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Excerpts from Colossians 1

We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for we have heard that you trust in Christ Jesus and that you love all of God's people...
So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom, then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.

We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need.

...Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You must make allowance for each others faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony.
May the grace of God be with you,

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,

Straight Ahead

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Although it is cloudy and very overcast, I saw the moon much earlier trying to peek through the surrounding clouds. We had another good thunderstorm last night, and I think the rain has caused my phone to go berserk. It has a lot of static, so I called Verizon to see if I could get it repaired soon.

I was so busy yesterday, I didn't have time to walk in the Park, but did my exercising in Walmart... from one side to the other, The scenery is not nearly so relaxing there and is certainly not peaceful and quiet, but it does require a lot of walking!

I, of course, had to drive through the Park on our way home and noticed that once again, the water had gone over the weir, and lots of trash washed down from the houses backing up to the canal. Lots of food for the ibises who were busy pecking in the ground and not many people out because of the sprinkles. But God is good and He provides for our needs!

From the book Quiet Moments with God for teachers:

It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
2 Samuel 22:33

The sun is barely up and that annoying alarm clock is blaring in your ear. Groggily you reach over and fumble around until you hit the snooze button. Just a few more minutes, you think, and then I can get up and face the day. The alarm sounds again. You know you can't put it off any longer.

After a couple of cups of coffee, your brain is finally humming. Now the question is, which of today's tasks should you tackle first? Before you head off to work, you might seek inspiration from this prayer written by Jacob Boehme, a German shoemaker who was born more than 400 years ago.

Rule over me this day, O God, leading me on the path of righteousness. Put your Word in my mind and your Truth in my heart, that this day I neither think nor feel anything except what is good and honest. Protect me from all lies and falsehood, helping me to discern deception wherever I meet it. Let my eyes always look straight ahead on the road you wish me to tread, that I might not be tempted by any distraction. And make my eyes pure, that no false desires may be awakened within me.

A day without distractions,
focused only on the important.
A day viewed through pure eyes.
A day marked by goodness and
honesty. A day of clear direction
and no deception. A day without
falsehood and lies. A day in
which God's Word rules our
minds and his truth reigns
in our hearts. Now that's
a day worth getting up for!
William Cowper

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Wisdom

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the overcast day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

When I stepped outside earlier, the football shaped moon was trying to beam through the layer of clouds and was indeed, casting some light.

What a thunderstorm we had yesterday evening! The water still had not dried up in our gutters and now there is more!

I took a walk out to the tower at the Park yesterday, even though it was getting oppressively warm. I stopped at the gator nest and looked and looked for Mama gator. If she was there, she was hiding under a thick canopy of ferns. But then I walked on to the tower where a lot of trash and lilies have washed in, and there was a big gator amidst the trash... looked like Mama gator taking a break, but I couldn't be sure.

I was just in time to see an osprey swoop up from the water with a fish in it's claws and make a beeline toward it's nest, which is probably the one on top of a field light pole at Sawgrass Elementary. Then I watched as two more ospreys glided and soared in their graceful flight around and around the lake. They didn't hover as I was hoping, but they were still beautiful.

Many dragonflies were flying back and forth in front of me, catching mosquitoes, I hope! God is Good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

What are the benefits of wisdom?

Proverbs 9:10 Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding.

Psalm 111:10 Reverence for the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey him. Praise his name forever!

Wisdom is not simply knowing facts and figures; it is understanding that an all-powerful, all knowing God has designed a moral universe with Consequences for our good and evil choices. Wisdom begins with understanding our accountability to and our full dependence on our Creator. It's not what wee know, but Who we know.

Proverbs 3:21-26 My child, don't lose sight of good planning and insight. Hang on to them, for they fill you with life and bring you honor and respect. They keep you safe on your way and keep your feet from stumbling. You can lie down without fear and enjoy pleasant dreams. You need not be afraid of disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.

Wisdom produces honor in our lives and protects us from trouble. Wise people know the difference between right and wrong and choose to do what's right. More than that, wisdom is choosing to apply God's truth and principles to our daily relationships and
situations.

Proverbs 9:11-12 Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.

Psalm 25:8-9 The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in what is right, teaching them his way.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Heed his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Presence of God

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! A little late this morning, but this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! As I stepped outside this morning, the moon was getting a little lop-sided, as it wanes, but was slightly hazy. No stars were visible, but the sky seemed cloudless... a beautiful warm day ahead!

Yesterday was so hot, we stayed in as much as possible after church, but did get out for a short ride to the park. Only about five cars were there... the brave ones walking in the heat. It doesn't seem to bother the ibises or the herons or the squirrels, who are always running about , and the ibis are always poking intently in the ground. God is good!

We also drove over to Joe's Creek Park, but only one car was there. It's a nice small park with a good walking trail, but not used very much.

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Is it possible to experience God's presence today?

Hebrews 10:22-24 Let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

During Old Testament times, God's presence was expressed in limited ways. For example, the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies only once a year. In Jesus Christ, the veil between us and God is torn away, and we all enter freely into his presence. Let's not take for granted the privilege that is ours.

Ephesians 3:12 Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come fearlessly into God's presence, assured of his glad welcome.

Colossians 1:22 Now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

When we have a free pass to an event, we do not hesitate to enter. We are given the privilege of admission based on the generosity of the giver. Our faith in Jesus Christ is God's free pass to his presence. When we put our trust in Jesus Christ, we can enter God's presence confidently.

Are there times or places when God leaves me?

Joshua 1:9 I command you--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Rescue

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! And it is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

This morning, for the first time in a week, I saw stars, when I stepped outside. that means the sky is clear and no rain for today! Be careful what you pray for because just last month I was praying for rain. Wow, Did the Lord ever answer!

I did my daily walk at the VA hospital yesterday. That place is huge! I am sure that I walked a mile in increments, most of it pushing Louis in a wheelchair, because his legs give out after just a short distance. But I am thankful for the caring staff and doctors who do a great job of caring for our veterans and always thank him for serving his country, so many years ago.

We drove through the park and noticed the high water, which flowed over the weir during the hard rain Wednesday. The canal is up, also, and grass is growing in our front yard. Everybody is out mowing. God is good!

Two squirrels came up to me looking for peanuts, which they are not supposed to have, at the first shelter when I walked the other day. Someone had been feeding them and they get used to it, but I just told them I did not have anything for them. :o)

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How will God rescue those who depend on him?

Psalm 91:9-16 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling. For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone. You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will answer them. I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation."

The Lord gives us absolute assurance: "I will rescue those who love me." This passage does not give us license to be reckless, But it gives us the promise that when people and circumstances turn against us, God is for us.

Psalm 6:4 Return, O Lord, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love.

Psalm 50:15 Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

God promises to rescue us not only for our welfare, but for his glory.

Psalm 72:12-14 He will rescue the poor when they cry to him, he will help the oppressed who have no one to defend them. He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them. He will save them from oppression and from violence, for their lives are precious to him.

No situation is too difficult for the Lord. The greater our need, the greater the depth of his love and compassion for us.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psalm 139

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We are having a downpour right now, but I am hoping for dry weather tomorrow for the drive to the VA. (I am writing this Wed. night).

Today I walked unexpectedly out to see Mama gator. Unexpectedly, because I did not have my walking shoes on, and only intended to go a little ways. But, anyway, I looked and looked and then saw her behind the nest almost hidden. She is very vigilant.

I had an ultrasound on my heart today, and as I looked at the screen I could see and hear the heart as it beat and heard it sound like a washing machine. I couldn't help thinking how we are "fearfully and wonderfully made", so that is why some quotes from Psalm 139 are being passed on to you.

Psalm 139 NIV

O Lord, you have searched me and you know me,
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.

You hem me in---behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me.
too lofty for me to attain.
For you created my inmost being.
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

...Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts
See if there is any offensive way
in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Pious thoughts...
See if there is any offensive way
in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

Hope

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the rainy morning that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

Due to an early morning appointment to have a heart monitor attached, I am a little late. Tomorrow I have to go at the same time and have it removed, so I may not make it at all.

I drove by a moorhen family beside the street, near a ditch and was thinking how faithful they are to each other. Ma and Pa are together for life and the little ones are under their protection until they are on their own. Humans could use them for a model.

As we came out of the park today, two community service workers were cleaning out the trash washed down from the canal behind the houses and a gator was swimming down the water toward them. I wanted to stay and watch their reaction, but didn't. I think they would move out of the way!

Two of my favorite verses:

There is surely a future hope for you and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:18
This was from an Edwards pie box.

Romans 15:13 NKJV Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Wisdom from Ephesians

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the cloudy day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! What a rain we had Saturday night and Sunday! I was awakened at midnight by the sound of the pouring rain and when I awoke Sunday morning it was still raining, but the rain stopped for us to go to church and didn't start again until we were home! God is good!

God gives us beauty everywhere, even in unlikely places. As I was driving home Saturday along a street with ditches on each side, there in the ditch were two roseate spoonbills, just glorious with their very pink feathers! I also saw one at our lake just a block or so away.

When we drove through the soggy park, I noticed how full the canal is, and saw a great blue heron smacking a fish on the ground, so he could swallow it! Very cool!

Living by the Spirit's Power; NLT

...So be careful how you live, not as fools, but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you do do. ...Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in our hearts. And you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ....

Work hard , but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though your were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free....

A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.

Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Joggin' thru James

Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the very warm day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

When I stepped outside this morning, the heat hit me in the face, but a mockingbird was going through his songs very loudly and the sound was music to my ears!

Yesterday, I was brave enough to take a walk before it got too warm and spied the young mama gator under the covered shelter, but just as soon as I saw her, she sank and there were only bubbles where she had been.

Then I walked on to the gator nest and spoke to Mama gator who was almost covered with water, except for nostrils and eyes. They know how to keep cool! Her head is so big, she must be about 10 feet long.

I stopped and looked into the spot that looks like primitive Florida and two blackbirds were silently flitting about in the bushes. They weren't catbirds and didn't look like the usual noisy blackbirds, but I was happy that I saw them. I walked on to the tower and felt the breeze on my, by now, very warm, wet, brow. It fell good! God is Awesome!

from the Promise Bible NLT:

James 1:2 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.

If you need wisdom-if you want to know what God wants you to do-ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking . But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do....

God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Ephesians 3:20 Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.
Amen

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

God's Power

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, no stars were visible because of the haze in the sky, but birds were singing...they never seem to be unhappy!

As I walked in the side yard, a tiny, baby frog, no larger than my thumbnail hopped out of my way. I thought of the TV series some years ago, "All Creatures Great and Small"... from the tiniest frog to the greatest alligator, the Lord God loves them all!

After another trip out to the VA, I didn't have time to walk again yesterday, but drove through the Park and saw a lovely great white heron reflected in the mirror-like waters of the canal! There is beauty all around if we just notice!

How can God's power help me?

Psalm 60:12 With God's help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.

We should not look at the size of the problem but at the size of our God. When there are great things to be done, we have a great God who will do them through us.

Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak.

2 Corinthians 12:9 Each time he said, "My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.

God's power does not depend on human strength and power. In fact, our resources can get in the way if we rely on them instead of on the Lord. God's power flows through our weaknesses like electric current through a wire. The wire is simply a conductor, with no power in itself. But without the wire, the current doesn't flow. God is looking for people who are wired for his service.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

God's Power

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, no stars were in sight and not even an airplane, but I could hear a mockingbird loud and clear greeting the dawn with a happy song! God is good!

Yesterday, I did my walking at Walmart and helped their stocks rise. It was definitely not the same as the scenic park, although there were some noises from children, and some "different" sights and sounds. I prefer the Park.

We drove into the park later, and saw the bedraggled peacock with his feather bones dragging on the ground, and a young gator swimming lazily up the canal. We also saw Terry in his office, so I went in to chat with him, since he is leaving on vacation Thursday and was hoping to see me. The park won't be the same once he retires. Sigh.

From the Promise Bible NLT:

What is God's power like?

Psalm 20:4-7 May he grant your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory, flying banners to honor our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers. Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed king. He will answer him from his holy heaven and rescue him by his great power. Some nations boast of their armies and weapons, but we boast in the Lord our God.

God's power is greater than that of the greatest kings who ever ruled or the mightiest armies that ever marched. That power is ours as we trust him, obey him, and honor his name.

Psalm 44:4-7 You are my King and my God. You command victories for your people. Only by your power can we push back our enemies, only in your name can we trample our foes. I do not trust my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me. It is you who gives us victory over our enemies; it is you who humbles those who hate us.

God's power is greater than any of the skills or resources we have at our disposal. While we may use the means that God has provided to us, we know that victory comes from God alone.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Planning

Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, it was cooler and everything was wet from last night's rain. No stars were visible, but once again I saw a plane so high, I could only see the lights blinking. Or was it a UFO?

Yesterday, my knee felt good enough for me to walk out to see Mama gator, who was keeping a vigil by her nest, to keep it from any predators. The water is so high, she was totally submerged except for her head. She looked at me and I looked at her and spoke, but she didn't reply. :o)

Then, as I walked back, I stopped at the bridge to cool off, and a young gator came swimming under the bridge, and slowly made its way up the canal, toward the lake, leaving a small wake behind. God is Awesome!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How am I supposed to plan my life?

Proverbs 2:1-11 My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair: and you will know how to find the right course of action every time. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

A plan is only as good as the information upon which it's based. Our human intellect is limited and inadequate. Apart from the Lord, our plans are liable to fail. the Lord promises wisdom to those who rely on his word and depend on his Spirit.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.

As we seek God , he will guide us in making our plans.

What if my plans fall short of God's plans for me?

You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.

Our plans cannot mess up God's plans!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Hope

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside early this morning, I could see stars twinkling and an airplane far above as it made its way north.

After the storm yesterday afternoon, the sky is clear and everything is washed and fresh. God is good!

We drove through the park yesterday, and saw a bedraggled peacock with the tail feather bones dragging on the ground... not so proud when molting!

Not many people were out, because of the threatening skies and heat, but the ibis were busy and the squirrels were running back and forth as usual. It is a peaceful place to be.

From the Promise Bible, NLT:

How can I have hope when times are tough?

Hebrews 10:23 Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Our hope is rooted in God's integrity and faithfulness. When everything else falls apart we can cling to the fact that God keeps his word.

John 14:1 Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Our troubles do not surprise the Lord and should not surprise us. Trouble is rampant in this fallen world. Our focus should be on Jesus who has overcome this world and all its troubles.

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

Jeremiah 29:11 "I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Do not doubt God's good intentions for us. The wonder of creation, the evidence of his constant care, and the priceless gift of Jesus Christ for our salvation give us confidence that he will establish all who trust in him.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

2nd Chronicles 7:14
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the overcast morning that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, I noticed the wetness of the grass and puddles here and there from the rain last night. Our grass was mowed yesterday and received a good wetting. My skimpy Mexican petunias are a lovely deep lavender from all the rain. the blossoms only last for a day, and then fall off, but share their beauty in a glorious way!

We drove through the Park yesterday morning, and noticed that not many people were there yet. I watched an anhinga waddling into position to spread its wings to dry. They are not built for walking, because of very short legs, so they are very amusing when they try to walk! God is Awesome!

From the NLT Psalm 145:

I will praise you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. I will bless you every day, and I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! His greatness is beyond discovery!

Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your owe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy of your righteousness.

The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry; full of unfailing love, the Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. All of your works will thank you, Lord, and your faithful followers will bless you. They will talk together about the glory of your kingdom; they will celebrate examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule generation after generation.

The Lord is faithful in all he says, he is gracious in all he does. The Lord helps the fallen, and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. All eyes look to you for help; you give them their food as thy need it. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.

The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him sincerely. He fulfills the desires of those who love him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them. The Lord protects all those who love him but he destroys the wicked.

I will praise the Lord, and everyone on earth will bless his holy name forever and forever.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Roamin' thru Romans

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We were really early birds today as we had to be at the VA at 6:45am for Louis' lab work. But the traffic was light and we made good time and found a handicapped parking space right in front of the building. Thank you, Lord! Louis had a much longer walk than he is used to, but he made it down the long walk to the elevators and the long hall to the lab, so he can rest the rest of the day.

Yesterday, I walked to the tower and, of course, stopped at the gator nest, to speak to Mama gator. I thought she wasn't there, but kept looking and found her hiding under some thick ferns... the reason being, people have already broken off branches to poke at her to try to get her to move. She is hiding to try to get some peace. I went earlier than usual, so there weren't so many people and it was cooler. On my way back, I stopped in the building to get a drink, and there was my friend, Gail, with her granddaughter! God is good!

From Romans 8 NLT:

For if you already have something, you don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently.
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Braveheart

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the cloudy day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, a mockingbird was greeting the day with very loud and continuous songs. The moon was not visible because of the cloud cover and, of course, it is very warm.

Yesterday we got our exercise walking the very long halls at the Veteran's Hospital, but in the time we were there, we managed to get in three appointments. Tomorrow Louis has to go back for lab work at 6:45am, so there may not be an email from me in the morning.

By the time we were through with the last app't at 12:30pm, he was tired out, so I had the clerk call for escort service with a wheelchair, to take him from the third floor, out to the front, where we caught a shuttle to the very back row in the parking lot. That place is really busy!!

We are blessed to have such a facility in our area. Some of the nurses were getting their exercise on the lunch breaks by walking very fast around and around the halls. I say, good for them! God is good!

Third John 1-5 NKJV
To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth:
Beloved , I pray that you may prosper in all things, and be in health, just as your soul prospers... I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth...

From Quiet Moments with God for Teachers:

...More often than not, when we hear the word "courage," we think of heroic acts in times of crisis. But in our everyday lives, we shouldn't overlook the courageousness of simply being there. Lives are changed when we faithfully provide for our families, care for the elderly, or lend an ear to a troubled student. Persistence in making this world a better place to live-for ourselves and others-is definitely a form of courage.

Albert Schweitzer, the great Christian missionary, doctor, and theologian, was once asked in an interview to name the greatest living person. He immediately replied, "The greatest person in the world is some unknown individual who at this very moment has gone in love to help another."

As you go about your work today, remember that you could be someone else's hero.
Have thy tools ready: God will find the work.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
