Jammin' thru James

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining and a few puffy clouds are moving slowly across the sky, because there isn't much breeze blowing here, and apparently not in the atmosphere, either. But, Yay! we did get a little rain yesterday and that was good because David C. had fertilized after he mowed. So, every little bit helps.

I learned from David C. that the green water at the park is caused by tiny plants that are rootless and almost like algae. He works from Boca Ciega Park and they have the same thing on a lake there. It apparently is harmless to the fish and other critters that live in the water, but it sure looks odd. I saw the usual ibis yesterday and since it had recently rained when I went to the park, lots of squirrels were out gathering wet acorns. Not many people were there because of threatening clouds, I guess.

Well, right on schedule, the poinciana trees are blooming. As soon as the jacarandas are past their prime. the blazing orange-scarlet blossoms on the poincianas start there glorious show! God is good!

Excerpts from James NLT:

Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.

If you need wisdom---if you want to know what God wants you to do--ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

If you are wise and understand God's ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth. And if you don't brag about the good you do, then you will be truly wise!...

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Have a wonderful weekend , remembering those who served and died for us and those who are serving our country now.

Love and hugs,

An Open Door

Good morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another beautiful dry day in Paradise! No rain in sight and the sun is shining, and David C. is coming to fertilize and mow the yard.

I went to the grocery store yesterday and even though I make lists, I nearly always forget something. Just trying to gather what I need for the potato salad. I already have the ingredients for the banana pudding, That's very simple.

On the way back, I drove to the park and walked to the first bridge to see if the water is still green. It is, but a beautiful white egret was stalking his lunch and quickly snatched it while I watch. Then he had to manuever it so that it was pointing down so it would go down his gullet. Lot of work for a tasty fish!

Meanwhile, a turtle was sunning on the large tree trunk that is in the water, while another one was waiting close by. I stopped and looked at the hawk's nest again, but no activity. I would like to at least see the ma and pa on the nest. Guess I'm not there at the right time. But God is good!

From the devotional Quiet Moments with God for Teachers;

I run in the path of your commands,
for you have set my heart free. Psalm 119:32

One warm summer afternoon, a woman was attending the baptism of her grandniece in a great old stone church in the English countryside. The massive doors of the church were flung wide to allow the warm sunshine into the chilly stone structure.

As she sat enjoying the ritual, a small bird flew in through the open doors. Full of fear, it flew backward and and forward near the ceiling, vainly looking for a way out into the sunshine. Seeing the light coming through the dark stained glass windows, it flew to one, then the next, and finally back toward the ceiling. It continued flying about in this way for several minutes, quickly exhausting its strength in frenzied panic. The woman watched the bird with concern and frustration. How foolish he was not to fly back out the same door through which he had entered!

Nearly ready to fall to the floor, the bird made a final lunge for one of the large rafters. Realizing he was in no immediate danger, he hopped a little on the beam, turned around, and suddenly saw the open door. Without hesitation he flew out into the sunshine, loudly singing a joyful song as he went.

Thr e bird had captivated the woman's imagination. Suddenly she realized that she was like the bird. She had flitted about, trying to live a "good" life of noble works without recognizing that the door of salvation had been open to her all the time. she suddenly undeerstood that to avoid flying errantly into places that offered no hope of eternal life, whe need only stop flapping and be still in the Lord's presence. From that vantage point, she could better see the door of grace that He had prepared for her.

During your break today, let your spirit fly up by a high place and sit with the Lord. He will show you how to fly out of your current problems.

God gives the shoulder
according to the burden.
German proverb

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and the Atlantis has landed! I was watching it on TV. The weather was perfect on the Cape and it made a flawless landing. Hard to believe that I saw it as a shiny speck in the sky just last week! Amazing!

I hope you all are having a good start to a busy day. I had a restless night, Partly due to the full moon, I think. Seems like it always affects my sleep. But that is only once a month, so I will make up lost sleep, maybe with a nap today! :o)

Yesterday after my visit to the podiatrist, who gave me some samples of ointment for my arthritic foot, I went to the library to exchange books. It always takes me a while to select new ones to read. I seem to get stuck on the same authors over and over. Then I picked up a couple things at Publix, for my share of the food for our visit to Dunnellon on Saturday for a gathering with my family. Looks like we will have plenty to eat! i am making potato salad and banana pudding. Plain old comfort food!

I saw the big gopher tortoise in the Park yesterday for the first time in a couple months. He was munching on weeds where the fence has been discontinued, his usual hangout. I also saw the usual anhinga, but this time with his wings folded, and his long tail dragging.
I have also noticed all the gardenia bushes around people's houses this year. They are blooming profusely, and really look nice. If I had one I would bring the flowers in and float them in a bowl, like I used to at our first house. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalms 32, 33, and 34 advice:

The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.

Many sorrows come to the wicked,
but unfailing love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you
who obey him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Psalm 34
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who trust in him!
For the Lord's people show him reverence, for those who honor him will
have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry
But those who trust in the Lord will
never lack any good thing.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
he rescues those who are broken in spirit.
The righteous face many troubles,
but the Lord rescues them from each
and every one.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Challenges

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Looks like another very warm, steamy day with lots of sunshine and a few breezes. We could use some rain, but God will provide in His time.

I had an invitation to go walking in the Park this morning, with a friend, but I have an appointment with my foot doctor, so had to decline. Actually, the best time to walk is very early, like 7 AM to avoid the heat. I have a neighbor who walks faithfully at 7 each morning, all around the block. He keeps in good shape during his retirement.

I went to the park yesterday on my way back from Walmart. A large class was standing with the teacher looking at the hawk's nest and learning all about nature. I am glad the county has not cut out that part of the budget, although the teacher is paid by the school board. The county furnishes the facilities.

But, anyway, the park was quiet and peaceful in the heat of the day, and I enjoyed my walk around Walmart. :o) God is good!

Challenges are something we all face every day, whether physical or mental, so if this is a repeat, please forgive and use it for good.

From the Promise Bible NLT;

Why does God allow challenges in our lives?

James 1:2-4 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.

Challenges that threaten and try us are the very tools that God uses to strengthen and try us are the very tools that God uses to strengthen and mature us. As we endure, we gain greater wisdom, integrity, and courage to face whatever comes our way.

Are some challenges too small to bother God?

Psalm 37:5 Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

Nothing is too small for God. When we commit our plans to the Lord, he commits himself and his infinite resources to us.

What has God given me to help me face my challenges?

Joshua 1:7 Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do.

God has given us his word to direct us. The promise of success is embedded in our commitment to obedience.

1 Chronicles 28:20 David continued, "Be strong and courageous and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly."

Instead of being discouraged by the size of the task, we should be encouraged by the limitless power of God.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Hope from Hebrews

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Looks like another hot and steamy day and it is only May! Don't want to think about what June and July will be like! But we didn't like the extreme cold this winter, so can't complain about the heat...never satisfied.

Brian and I drove to Ocoee Saturday to visit my sister-in-law, Ruth, who is not in good health. We saw some beautiful country in central Florida...still some open fields with cows, orange groves, and rolling, hilly land. It was good to see that Florida still has open land with no condos or shopping centers! We drove over the new (to me) toll beltway, which is much shorter and very little traffic at the time we were on it. A good trip.

I took choc. Chunk cookies to the church picnic yesterday, but since it was held outside, I could not stay long. I just cannot take the heat any more. I almost stayed too long. Ever since I collapsed from the heat at the end of my walk across the new Howard Franklin bridge back in '91, the heat affects me more.. Well, anyway, I make it a point now, to drink enough water.

I went to the Park yesterday early afternoon, and it looked so peaceful and cool with the shade and water and shadows of the trees reflected in the water. I watched an anhinga take off and land to spread its wings. They look so funny when they walk, because they have webbed feet like a duck and their legs are kind of bent. They are very graceful swimming underwater, though. God has made everything beautiful in its own way. God is good!

From Hebrews NLT:

Hopping around Hebrews 10 and 11;

Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be entrusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue tto do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is sealed in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven. Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs and Happy birthday, Dena!

tomorrow

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,
I am taking Brian for a procedure very early tomorrow morning, so there will not be a "Daily Walk". Hope you have a Jesus-filled weekend!!

On another note; please ignore the previous email I forwarded today. It is a hoax and not true for the most part. I should have checked first.

Sermon on the Mount

Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Unlike the way the day started out yesterday. today is sunshiny and bright already and promises to be a hot day. We still need rain, but God will send it in his time. My well pump does not work any more. (it's only about 41 years old, so can't imagine why) so I have to use city water, and I am not willing to do that. So I water sparingly.

Yesterday I drove to the park, parked and walked to the second bridge. The cloud cover was welcome and there was a strong breeze blowing, so it was very pleasant. I kept stopping to look at the water and wondered why it is green. It must be the algae from lack of oxygen making it green, but it doesn't look very good. I could not see any fish or anything in the water. Very strange. I don't know how the anhingas manage to find fish underwater if they can't see. One of the birds flew along the canal and landed up in an oak tree to dry out his wings. Then I went to the hawk's nest, but, once again, saw no signs of life. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT;

Matthew 5:3-16
God blesses those who realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.
God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are gentle and lowly,
for the whole earth will belong to them.
God blesses those who are hungry and thirsty for justice,
for they will receive it in full.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted
because they live for God,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

God blesses you when you are mocked
and persecuted and lied about because you are my followers.
Be happy about it! Be very glad!
For a great reward awaits you in heaven.
And remember, the ancient prophets were
persecuted, too.

You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world--like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don't hide your light under a basket! Instead, Put it on a stand and let it shine for all. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Assurance

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! What a beautiful morning this is turning out to be. Bright sunshine, and clear skies later on, so it should be a good night to see the space station fly over again.

I watched it last night because my friend, Karin, called me. It was so exciting, and made me in awe of God's power to turn the earth. That orbit was so fast! I will be out watching tonight at 8:30, even though it won't be quite dark then, Paul Dellegatto said it should be visible clearly.

Yesterday I had my deep tissue massage. Ahhh, for an hour I relaxed with warm hands soothing me from neck to toes. I had awakened with a crick in my neck and could hardly turn my head to the right, so God's timing was perfect and Linda worked really a long time on it. Thanks for the gift card, Carole!

On my way home, I stopped for a Subway teriyaki chicken sub, and enjoyed that after a ride through the park. I got out and checked out the hawk's nest, but still no activity. Not many people there. but it was nice and peaceful and windy. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How can I be assured of God's love in difficult times?

Isaiah 43:1-2 Now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says: "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you, I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you."

Romans 8:35, 38,39 Can anything separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted , or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?...I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't and life can't. The angels can't and the demons can't. Our fears for today and our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Life's circumstances don't come between God and his people. they don't get in God's way. Hard times are often when God reveals his infinite love and care for us.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Just one week ago today, I was taken for a fun, and wonderful motorcycle ride! Thanks, again, David! It was unforgettable! Well, since then, things have kinda been mundane, but each day is a gift from God and I pray I make the most of them. Today, I go for a deep tissue massage, using a gift card given to me at Christmas by a dear friend who tried to remain anonymous. Didn't work.

Yesterday I drove out to Sears for a battery check, and sure enough, it was bad. So they pro-rated it and I paid 15 dollars for a new one. the old one was only two years old. Only problem is, I did not have the security code for the radio, so now I will have to pay to have the radio pulled so the code can be found. Oh, well. sometimes it's better to ride in silence and look and listen to what is around me.

I drove to the park on the way home, and stopped to get out and look at the hawk's nest, but no signs of life, so I just enjoyed the greenery and the white ibis flying low overhead. There is some kind of water lily blooming in the lakes on the way in and they are a solid mass of purple. Very lovely! God is good!

From the RSV;
Romans 15:5
Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ

15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit..

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and hope.

Love and hugs,

Haggai

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We are having intermittent showers and thunder in the distance, but at least, it is rain, and that is what we desperately need. So God supplies our needs, in His time.

When the weather gets a little better I have to go to Sears to have my car battery checked. Yesterday, it kinda went "Uh" when I started it, so that worries me. I had gone to the cemetery and found all the sod has been replaced and it really looks nice. Lots of flowers were on the graves, but it was very hot. I wore a white long sleeved shirt over my tee shirt, to try to protect my arms, even though I had sunblock on. I took pictures of the whole area, along with the marker, to show Daryl.

I have noticed the same man coming when I am there. He walks out to the grave site of his loved one and just stands there for a while, remembering. It is a quiet, peaceful place with not many people on Sunday.

I also went to the Park and because of the heat and time of day, did not walk, but enjoyed looking at the water and had to stop in the street because a small turtle was stopped right in my path. Cars were coming from the other direction, so I just waited for them to pass, and then drove around the turtle, which started up again after I drove off. It wasn't even at the "turtle crossing" sign! God is good!

For some reason, perhaps the Holy Spirit nudging, I feel that I should send Haggai, Chapter 1 today. I reread an email from my friend sent in 2003 as an end of year message for his business, but it seems appropriate for Church, business or just our own personal lives. This is from the Promise Bible NLT:

Haggai 1:3
This is what the Lord Almighty says: The people are saying, "The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord's house--the Temple.
So the Lord sent this message through the prophet Haggai: Why are you living in luxurious homes while my house lies in ruins? This is what the Lord Almighty says; Consider how things are going for you! You have food to eat, but not enough to fill you up. You have wine to drink, but not enough to satisfy your thirst. You have clothing to wear, but not enough to keep you warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!

This is what the Lord Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you! Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord. You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the Lord Almighty while you are all busy building your own fine houses. That is why the heavens have withheld the dew and the earth has withheld its crops. I have called for a drought on your fields and hills--a drought to wither the grain and grapes and olives and all your other crops, a drought to starve both you and your cattle and to ruin everything you have worked so hard to get....

2,...Take courage, all you people still left in the land, says the Lord. Take courage and work, for I am with you, says the Lord Almighty. My Spirit remains among you just as I promised when you came out of Egypt. So do not be afraid.

(Just a small suggestion...read the rest if the chapter, it is short, but meaningful)

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

On the Road Again

Good morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another sunny and dry day today, with a cool breeze blowing this morning, but we really need rain. I guess i will have to water my staghorn fern which is huge, because it is starting to look droopy.

I am still watering my Mother's day flowers and they, for the most part, are still fresh looking. I love fresh roses and colorful flowers! This morning while i was praying, I looked out the window and saw a squirrel whizzing along the telephone line and a mockingbird right on his tail! Too funny! The squirrel is much bigger than the bird, but that doesn't stop the bird! We could all learn a lesson from that! :o) I watched a squirrel take a drink from the bowl I keep on the porch wall for birds. The birds usually take a bath in it and then I have to go replenish the water which gets splashed out!

I drove to the park yesterday and looked at the hawk's nest for awhile, but did not see any activity. I don't think they have hatched out yet. But I am glad the nest is so visible. If the county decides to start charging three dollars to enter the Park, I won't be going so often. But God is good!

From the devotional book Quiet Moments with God for Teachers:

God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power of love and of self discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Getting yourself out of bed in the morning is one thing. Feeling prepared to face whatever comes your way that day is another. Where do you turn for a confidence booster?

Believe it or not, one of the best confidence builders you can find may be inside those fuzzy slippers you like to wear on your own two feet.

Researchers have discovered that regular exercise---thirty minutes, three or four times a week---boosts the confidence level of both men and women. This is due in part to the way exercise strengthens, tones, and improves the body's appearance. It also has to do with brain chemistry.

When a person exercises, changes take place inside the brain. Endorphins, released as one exercises, are proteins that work in the pleasure centers of the brain and make a person feel more exhilarated. When the heart rate increases during exercise, neurotrophins are also released, causing A person to feel more alert and focused.

Are you feeling anxious about your day? Take a walk, cycle, or jog or do some calisthenics first thing in the morning. See if you don't feel a little more on top of the world.

Those who exercise regularly also feel that if they can discipline themselves to exercise, they can discipline themselves to do just about anything!

The human body is one of the most awesome examples of God's creative power--an example we live with daily. He has created us not only to draw confidence from reading His Word and experiencing His presence through prayer, but also from the use of our body.

Put on those walking shoes and talk with God as you go! Not only will your body become more fit and your mind more alert, but the Holy Spirit will give you direction and peace about your day.

God gives to every man the
virtue, temper, understanding,
taste that lifts him into live
and lets him fall just in the
niche he was ordained to fall.
-William Cowper

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs, and have a Blessed weekend,

Love one another

Good morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining brilliantly and the birds are flying around and the squirrels are digging for acorns. Life is good! I am still reliving my "biking" experience and thanking God for friends who take care of me to the extent of even selecting music for my listening pleasure as we rode over the highways!

Yesterday was a quiet day compared to the previous one, but I did get to the Park, which was simmering in the heat by early afternoon, so I did not try to walk. Not many people were out and about because of the heat. I went on to Publix to get supplies and noticed the osprey nest was vacant, so it looks like the baby has flown away. Soon the rest of the nest will be on the parking lot, but no one parks there anyway. God is good!

From 1 John 3 NLT:

This is the message we have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was right. So don't be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.

If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to eternal life. But a person who has no love is still dead. anyone who hates another Christian is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don't have eternal life withing them. We know what real love is because Christ gave up his life for us. and so we also ought to give up our lives for our Christian brothers and sisters. But if anyone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need and refuses to help--how can God's love be in that person?

Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions, It is by our actions that we know we are living in the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before the Lord, even if our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything.

Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him. And this is his commandment; we must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. those who obey God's commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Faithfulness

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! After my wonderful day yesterday, today seems like an anti-climax, but I'm sure God has good plans for me today, also. He is faithful! As I was writing down my prayer names today, I looked out the window and saw a cardinal land on a wire and perched there so I could admire his beautiful red head and comb. I also heard the squirrels galloping over the roof above my head. They still can get on the roof, even though the trees have been trimmed!

While David and I were riding at Ft. Desoto yesterday I saw three large osprey nests on top of poles set in the wilderness. All were occupied with babies. I so enjoyed the ride along the beaches and especially, when we stopped to watch the paraboarders?? I don't know what to call them when they splash along on boards holding on to the large kite/chutes. It takes a lot of arm strength to hang on. One of them was lifted out of the water, by a big gust of wind, and it was really windy out there near the skyway!

I was totally confident in David's handling of the bike and felt no fear at all. He was very considerate and helped me with the helmet, the gloves and mike. I felt so loved and cared for all morning, by Gil, David and Mari. God has blessed me with wonderful friends. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Proverbs 3:3-4 Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace, write them deep within your heart. then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation.

One of our greatest securities in life is that of a good name. Faithfulness brings a good reputation and trust from others. When we have problems, sometimes our reputation can be the key to a positive outcome.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 No one can lay any other foundation than the one we already have-Jesus Christ. Now anyone who builds on that foundation may use gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But there is going to come a time of testing at the judgment day to see what kind of work each builder has done. Everyone's work will be put through the fire to see whether or not it keeps its value. If the work survives the fire, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builders themselves will be saved, but like someone escaping through a wall of flames.

The way we live now affects the quality of our life to come. While all who believe in Jesus Christ will inherit eternal life, there will be additional rewards and blessings based on our obedience in this life. Each of us is tested at one point or another. Those who are faithful with what they are given will receive even greater blessings and responsibility.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Blessings

Good afternoon Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This was truly an awesome and fun morning, riding on David's Gold Wing motorcycle! We went to Sawgrass Park, where Gil took photos and video of us, and then headed down to Ft. Desoto, rode all the way from one end to the other; then to the Gulf Beaches, from St. Pete Beach, where we stopped at the Frog Pond and had breakfast, all the way up the beaches to Clearwater.

We took the Bayside Bridge on the way home and ended our ride at Mari's salon, so she could curl my "helmet" hair.Gil met us there and took more pix, even of Mari with David and me.

I am so blessed to have godly men like David and Gil for friends and Mari for a dear friend!

I was on the bike for four hours and am ready to go again! God is good!
Thanks again David, for your time, guidance and conversation! God bless you!
Love and hugs,

The Beatitudes

Good morning, a little late this morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I had to take my van in for service, so I waited for it and that is why I'm late. It would have been a gorgeous day for an early morning walk, but, maybe, it will be just as gorgeous for my motorcycle ride tomorrow. I will not be sending an email tomorrow morning, because I will be having fun!!!

As I was driving home, I stopped at the Park, and saw an anhinga slowily dragging wet wings across the weir, and on the other side, another anhinga with wings spread, posing for a photo. Not many people were out this early, so no one was looking at the hawk's nest, yet.

I just enjoy so much the beautiful jacaranda trees this spring. I thought many of them would have been damaged by the frost, but it just made them bloom later. There is one a block or two from here that is just breathtaking in its beauty! God used his purple and lavender paint on them.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, with pink and white and lavender roses delivered from my sons and beautiful thoughtful cards from them. Then, Saturday, I had a great time at the Ladies' tea at church, visiting with friends and my two adopted "daughters" for the day on each side. Brian took me to brunch after church yesterday, so I was really blessed with lots of love! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 5:3
God blesses those who realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.
God blesses those who are gentle and lowly
for the whole earth will belong to them.
God blesses those who are hungry and thirsty
for justice,
for they will receive it in full.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shone mercy.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted
because they live for God,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Integrity ( Happy Mothers's Day to all Mom's on this list)

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the squirrels are already running around and digging up acorns in the yard. But not for long. I had an estimate from the tree man yesterday and expected him next week, but he called this morning with a cancellation and will be out a little later today to start the trimming. The squirrels won't be happy then!

David, who mows my yard faithfully, edges and blows came yesterday and after he finished the yard took the dirty filters out of my new vacuum and replaced them with clean ones. It was a messy job that I had been putting off. He also replaced the batteries in my caller ID which I thought was worn out. Works like new, now! I am blessed to have friends who do over and above what I ask. David is not a believer, although he sometimes asks me to pray for him. I do that anyway, every day.

I did not get out until afternoon to ride over to the park. It was fairly quiet...nice breeze, but very hot and humid. There is a lot of interest in the new hawk's nest with cameras trained on it each day. The water was fairly calm and an ibis was keeping a vigil by the bank of the canal, instead of walking and poking with his beak. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 119:1-8
Happy are people of integrity,
who follow the law of the Lord.
Happy are those who obey his decrees
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us
to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently
reflect your principles!
Then I will not be disgraced
when I compare my life with your commands.
When I learn your righteous laws,
I will thank you by living as I should.
I will obey your principles.
Please don't give up on me!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

If My People

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I am expecting my tree trimmer to call saying he is on his way, and then the yard will be mowed later, so guess I am staying home this morning.

I had enough outings yesterday, though. After my walk in the park, I drove out to the Mall. When I got through there, it was lunch time, so I was glad to come home and collapse. Still don't have a lot of stamina, but getting better, praise God!

I am always amazed at how many blue jays are flying around here. I keep a bowl of water on the front wall, and they are always drinking and bathing in it! They get pretty huffy when any other bird tries to drink. The squirrels also come and drink out of it. They must get really thirsty after eating dry acorns all day! :o)\

I always see the baby osprey sitting atop the light pole at Publix, whenever I go there. The baby is as big as the parents, now, so soon it will be flying off. It doesn't look too secure to me, because there are only a few sticks left of their nest, but I guess it is home, sweet home to them. God is good!

Since today is the National Day of Prayer here is the verse from 1 Chronicles. We certainly all need to pray for our country, and government these days!

1 Chronicles 7:14
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.

Comparison (from Hymns For the Family of God;)

Jesus Christ is unique, and one cannot be in His presence and not reveal the man he really is. Jesus pulls each person from behind his mask. In the exposure of that bleeding love on the cross, men become what they really are.

You may think you are wonderful until you stand in the presence of the One who is purity itself. It is the pure light of God that pierces a man. You can keep up your pretense of being holy until you stand in the light. Then immediately there is nowhere to hide, all your masks are torn away, all your hollow smiles fade.

Revival means to be exposed for what we are. The presence of the Lord is revealing.

Psoaring thru Psalm 19

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun has not shone yet, but the cloudy weather is welcome if it brings rain. While some states get too much rain, we need it right now.

I did something I have not done in a long time. I went walking before breakfast and while it was cooler. Hardly anyone was at the Park, so I took my stick that Terry gave me and started out. I paused at the first covered shelter and watched a large raccoon across the water, walking along until he disappeared into the underbrush. It was time for him to sleep all day. Then I walked on to the tower and the wind was blowing, making waves, and there on the side was a big gator, letting the water wash up almost to his eyes. I spoke to him and wished him a good day, then started back...Met only three people out that early. a good time to go! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 19:9-14
Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever.
The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.
They are more desirable than gold,
even the finest gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
even honey dripping from the comb.
They are a warning to those who hear them.
There is a great reward for those
who obey them.

How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
Keep me from deliberate sins!
Don't let them control me.
Then I will be free of guilt
and innocent of great sin.

May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my Rock and my redeemer.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my Prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Joy

Good morning, dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, we don't get much cooler at night than in the seventies, but the wind blowing keeps us cool even in all the humidity.

I headed out yesterday to gas up the van, and the wind is always blowing gales at the gas pumps at Walmart, but it feels good in the summer. As I was driving into the Park, I saw a lady peahen, and further down the street Mr. peacock was strutting again, so it must be courting time. Soon there will be babies running around. I had to almost stop to avoid hitting the lady, who was in the street. I wonder if they are called peacocks because that is the size of their brains. They are all beauty, not brains!

I was reading Psalm 104:1-23 this morning, telling of God's beauty that He has created for us to enjoy. Beautiful description of the earth and all its beauty! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

How can I be joyful in hard times?

Habakkuk 3:17-18 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.

Philippians 4:4,12 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again--rejoice!...I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything, I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

Joy is a choice. We may not realize it, but we choose our moods and oiur attitudes. God's promises in Christ are the basis for choosing joy no matter what we face.

James 4:14-18 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be our opportunity for joy.

Troubles remind us of two things. First, they remind us that this is a fallen world full of futility and frustration. Second, they remind us to turn to a God who will never disappoint us. God promises lasting joy for all those who believe in him. This kind of joy stays with us despite our problems.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Amaryllis

Abundance

Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The wind is blowing and it promises to be hot again today, but summer will soon be here and then we will be wishing for cooler weather! :o)

I had an active weekend with going to a concert Friday night at Brian's church with a three hundred voice choir, a birthday party on Saturday evening, and church Sunday morning and a program with Curt Cloninger Sunday night! Sunday afternoon a nap and relaxation! I also drove out to the cemetery to see how the grass restoration was coming. The permanent marker is now in place, but all is muddy with a peculiar gridwork across all the graves. I guess this must be to hold the sod in place when it gets planted. They are also putting in palm trees between each section. Always improving,, which is good. It was very hot, so I didn't stay long, but a good wind was blowing, which made it bearable.
Almost forgot! I also got to sit on a Gold Wing motorcycle which I hope to get a ride on soon. It was difficult for me to get on, but with David's help and instructions, I made it! Awesome! I am looking forward to the ride, even if I will have "helmet hair'. :o)

I did go to the park each day, and saw Mr. Peacock strutting around with this tail feathers fully expanded. Yes, he knew he looked spectacular! He really is beautiful, so since God made him that way, he might as well flaunt it! I saw the turtles sunning on the bank, and saw two woodstorks on my way to church yesterday!

The jacarandas are now looking beautiful. I passed one that had branches hanging over the street, and the street was covered with a lovely blanket of lavendar petals! Some of the trees were frost bitten, but most are still beautiful. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT

Under what circumstances does God promise abundance to us?

Malachi 3:10,11 "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the Lord almighty, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not shrivel before they are ripe," says the Lord Almight.

Philippians 4:19 "This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus
.

God's abundant provision is a gracious gift. When we give what God requires we receive more than we could ever desire.

Deuteronomy 30:9 The Lord your God will make you successful in everything you do. He will give you many children and numerous livestock, and your fields will produce abundant harvests for the Lord will delight in being good to you as he was to your ancestors.

God is not stingy and resentful in supplying our needs. He loves to lavish his abundance on those with grateful hearts.

Why does God give us abundant gifts?

2 Corinthians 9:8 God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
God wants us to have everything we need. But we don't get to keep what we receive, we get to give it away. God is looking for us to share his abundance with others.
