Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We were down in the seventies earlier and yet as the day goes on, we will climb back up to the high eighties. But, the A/C is working less and there is a definite change in the air. Ah, fall!
I read recently, a quote from someone that you should always have something to do in the day when you get out of bed. So, since I had nothing in particular that needed doing yesterday, I decided to take a ride downtown and see what is going on in my hometown. I saw the progress on the parking garage/grocery store that is coming on first ave. south; lots of cars parked along Central Ave. people walking about, and then drove along the waterfront which was gorgeous...both weather and view! My goal was to see the pier before it is totally destroyed, so I pulled over next to the curb in front of the Vinoy Hotel and took a picture with my iphone to send to Daryl. To me it was sad to see it coming down, but a new one is due to come up maybe in my lifetime, maybe not. Oh, well, I have many fond memories over the years of visiting the million dollar pier, and this one.
I drove home over the brick streets of Coffee Pot drive, where the speed limit is 25, which is too fast on that bone jarring bumpy road. I think the shock absorbers on the van heaved a sigh of relief when I got off that street!
I saw a huge flock of ibis around Lynch Lake coming home and lots of ducks and seagulls. It was a good ride and I enjoyed it! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 139:1-6
O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my every thought when far away.
You chart the path ahead of me
and tell me when to stop and rest.
Every moment you know where I am.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
but great for me to know!
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is a beautiful morning with cooler temps and lots of sunshine and a few puffy white clouds around. If we have any rain today, it won't be until late afternoon.
Yesterday, the yard crew came about 11, so, even though the grass was wet, and there was water standing on the porch, they got the job done. It did not rain while they were here, but right afterwards it started to sprinkle after they had moved on down the street.
I did laundry yesterday, including ironing which I had let accumulate. I should not do that, because it is tiring to stand and iron and then hang everything up. However, it was good to get it done. Then I noticed a large truck out front and checked and saw it was the BH guys again...this time they were in the back yard climbing the pole and removing the old cable. I was amazed at how long it was. One man pulled it through the backyard, and way down the street until the end showed up. They had a large spool in the street to wrap it around. I spoke to them and they seemed happy in their work.
Later, I took off for the park and wouldn't you know, it started to rain as I left the house. I drove over anyway, just to see what I could find. A wet, shiny, gopher tortoise was wandering around not worried about the wetness. He carries his shelter where ever he goes. There were quite a few people there who did not care about the rain. Of course there are shelters on the boardwalk. I remember many years ago, I got caught in the rain, stood under a tree for awhile, and then dashed for a shelter, but got pretty soaked.. Ah, those were the days! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 121
I look up to the mountains...
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made the heavens and the earth!
He will not let you stumble and fall;
the one who watches over you will not sleep.
Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never tires and never sleeps.
The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shield.
The sun will not hurt you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The Lord keeps you from all evil as you come and go,
both now and forever.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Teaching about money and possessions
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have overcast skies right now, but the blue is showing around the clouds, so this day may be like yesterday...rain one minute and sunshine the next. Very peculiar. But the heat is gone, at least, most of it. It has only gotten into the middle eighties, instead of nineties, so we are feeling the first taste of fall!
I had a time getting into church yesterday. When I left home it was just starting to sprinkle but by the time I got to church it was pouring, so I circled the lot three or four times, until a space opened up. Ray pulled into a space nearby, and spoke as he passed by, then the next thing I knew, he had grabbed an umbrella from the umbrella stand inside and came out to give me shelter so I could get in dry! My hero!
I watched the Rays win their last game of the season, while watching the Packers win their game. Also, I watched the Gators win, so as far as I was concerned, the world of sports was good for me. Not so good for Bucs fans!
I drove through the park on Saturday and was surprised to find it full! Lots of people were out and walking the boardwalk even though the sky looked very threatening. the squirrels were out and an egret and anhinga were enjoying themselves doing whatever they do. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Matthew 6:24-30
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one
and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise
the other. You cannot serve both God and money..
So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether
you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't
life consist of more than food and clothing? Look at
the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put
food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them.
And you are far more valuable to him than they are.
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Of course not.
And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and
how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing,
yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully
as they are. And if God care so wonderfully for flowers
that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more
surely care for you? You have so little faith!
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Paul's prayer
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have overcast skies again today, but not from Joaquin. The forecast has changed from a beautiful weekend to maybe more clouds, but not so much rain, which is good since I have not heard from my handyman.
Well, after I had my hair done, I once again stopped at CFA for lunch and, as usual, the drive thru line was around the building. But the employees were outside taking the orders from the car windows and we paid the guy under the canopy. Very efficient, and my frosty lemonade was so refreshing!
I drove on home to eat my salad and then went to the library, to check out more books before all the school kids came in. Then I went on to the Park, and saw something really unusual there. A small teepee was set up on one of the berms at the circle, with a man and woman standing in front. The woman had on an American Indian like dress, but the man was casually dressed. Two children were standing in front of them in Indian dress, and a photographer was taking their picture. At first I thought it was a wedding, but there was no one else there, so maybe it was a shoot for an ad or something...Very interesting. But it did not seem to bother the large gopher tortoise, who was also being photographed by a couple of visitors. He just kept on munching. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Jude
And now, all glory to God, who is able to
keep you from stumbling and who will bring
you into his glorious presence innocent of sin
and with great joy. All glory to him. who alone
is God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yes, glory, majesty, power, and authority belong
to him, in the beginning, now, and forevermore.
Amen,
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Paul's Final Advice
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! "The goldenrod is yellow and the fields are turning brown", from the poem I learned in my early school days, about October's "bright blue weather". and hopefully it will stay bright blue until my handyman gets time to come and check out another small stain on the flat roof ceiling, which means another leak is lurking overhead. Grrr.
I did not notice the stain, but one of the cleaning ladies saw it yesterday and asked about it. I am glad she pointed it out, because I always go to that room in the morning to have my devotions and pray, and did not see it. Just more upkeep on the house!
I got over to the park yesterday and, surprisingly, there were only about three cars total plus the ranger cars there! That is very unusual.
I was mentioning about the Emergency vehicles I saw next door, to Cheryl and Kim, my cleaning ladies, because they usually see what is going on before I do, since there is a lot of shrubbery between me and the house next door. But, it seems the mother and daughter are both in precarious health and the first responders are there pretty often. It is sad that they keep to themselves so that no one knows what is going on. All I can do is pray for them.
Well, I have to leave pretty soon to get my hair done, which really needs help! But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
2 Thessalonians 5:12-22
Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those
who are lazy. encourage those who are timid.
Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient
with everyone.
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always
try to do good to each other and to everyone else.
Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what
happens, always be thankful for this is God's will
for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies,
but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.
Keep away from every kind of evil.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Paul's Prayer
Good Morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It is good to see the brilliant sun and lower humidity today. Not too much in the way of showers, but the gutters are still full of water from the short deluge yesterday!
I was able to get out to drop off some books at the library and then on to the park. The fire station is right across the street from the library, and I waited while a fire truck came out, and turned on his lights and siren to make his way through the light and traffic. They do a great job!
It was pretty quiet in the park, but lots of ibis were enjoying the grubs and whatever it is they eat the is under the grass. I did not see any squirrels, though, which is very unusual.Coming home I had to slow down to let part of a large flock of ibis cross the street to get to Lynch Lake. There was an anhinga, and the usual ducks enjoying being together, along with a few seagulls. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Ephesians 1:15-18
Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord
Jesus and your love for Christians everywhere, I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you spiritual wisdom
and understanding , so that you might grow in your knowledge
of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light
so that you can understand the wonderful future he has
promised to those he called. I want you to realize what a
rich and glorious inheritance he has given to his people...
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Water is still dripping off the roof, but the sun is shining and blue sky is showing between the white, fluffy clouds, so it looks like we won't have the rain we had yesterday.
I did not go out at all even though I had gotten up earlier than usual. But I did laundry, gave Jim, the yard man, his check. and then waited for Sam, the carpet man to come. It was sort of a dreary day to have carpets cleaned, but I have the A/C on and thought that the ceiling fans would help to dry them.
Sam came about 1 PM and worked for over an hour. We had a good time talking, and I found out a lot about him and his family.( His daughter inherited his dimples.) I must say, I am so pleased with his results! The carpet looks great and I would heartily recommend him to anyone!
As I said, I did not go out, because after Sam left, it had started to rain, so I thought it best tp stay home. I stayed up until midnight watching the Packers win, so this morning I slept in a little later than usual. Go Packers! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 138:3,6,8
When I pray, you answer me. You encourage
me by giving me the strength I need.
Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,
but he keeps his distance from the proud.
The Lord will work out his plans for my life--
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
I always give thanks for you. remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
