Good Morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside in the darkness earlier, there was Venus shining brightly through the trees, and another bright star shining in the southwest. Beauty in the darkness!
Yesterday on the way in to the Park, a black, shiny gator had just crawled up on the bank to bask in the sun, and we had just passed two peacocks, just outside the park. One peacock had his fan spread out and was preening, the other had his tail feathers dragging on the ground." Beauties and the beast". I started my walk and stopped to chat with two friends who were just coming off the boardwalk. Not many people were there yet, so I walked on to the tower and watched some skimmers flying about. I was hoping to see some ospreys, but they were not present.
I walked on back, just in time to see three different groups of school children coming , so I was glad to finish, instead of being in the crowd! God is good!
I talked to Francia, the teacher, later when I took some cake to her and Mike, and she is planning to retire June 4. It won't be retiring from work, however, as she will be a full-time caregiver for her husband, whose health is failing. I don't know what will happen to the schoolroom -whether they will get another teacher or what. Stay tuned!
Psalm 18-28-30
I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust:
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
so shall I be saved from my enemies.
For You will light my lamp;
the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
Psalm 18:28-30
Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

No one else will listen
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside early this morning, Venus was still glowing brightly in the eastern sky and, looking much farther away, the other stars were dimly visible. God is good!
I noticed one blossom on my potted hibiscus this morning. It was a gift and has a long stalk with the red flower at the end. My one last amaryllis is fading fast, but was pretty while it lasted. I noticed the neighbor across the street has a bunch of red ones in front of her house.
I still take pleasure in looking at the beautiful jacarandas in bloom everywhere. They are lovely lavender blossoms, even though they are kind of messy on the ground.The magnolias are also blooming and the new ones in the park seem to be thriving. I was there in the late afternoon, after going to a support group earlier. It didn't look like Mike was there, so I did not take any lemon cake over...his favorite. Maybe today..
From God's Promises for Men (but good for everyone)
God listens to a Person's Prayer When...
No One Else Will Listen
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving
Colossians 4:2
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer
Romans 12:12
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Matthew 18:19
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayers and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:13-18
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Protection
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, Venus was shining brightly, dimming the other stars, but the sky was clear once again and we have another beautiful day waiting for us to enjoy!
In all the busyness and overcrowded city, the birds still make their nests and carry on above all the hustle and bustle of people going about their business. The osprey nest at the Publix has their young sticking their heads out and will probably soon be out on their own, as will the one at Sweetbay. the Sawgrass school nest has heads sticking up all the time. God is good!
We went to the Park yesterday and the usual anhingas were drying their wings. I heard from Terry that the Park may be sold to the state, which would then close it as they are closing other state parks. I hope and pray that does not happen as many people enjoy it, including me! The county people are working to make the berms grass free and are planting drought resistant plants to cut down on watering and mowing. Changes are not always good. Sigh.
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Where can I find protection and safety?
Psalm 12:2-8 My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth! He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep. Indeed, he who watches oveer Israel never tires and never sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not hurt you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all evil and preserves your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
Our protection is directly related to the character, competence, and capability of our protector. The Lord is unsurpassed in all areas. The Maker of heaven and earth is our personal protector. He never sleeps and never turns his attention from us. We walk securely because he guards our every step.
1 Samuel 2:9 He will protect his godly ones, but he wicked will perish in darkness. No one will secceed by strength alone.
Job 5:19 He will resscue you again and again so that no evil can touch you.
Psalm 9:9 The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Though troubles and threats will find us in this fallen, rebellious world, they are not a surprise to the Lord. He never tires of saving us.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Blessings
Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the air was coolish and stars were dim.. it was late for me! But as I was praying over my devotions, I heard the pitter patter of little squirrel feet on the roof over my head. they climb up the oak tree and scramble over the roof until they get to the jumping off place (literally) to the trees in the back yard.
Yesterday was a quiet day for us. After church, we went to the Park, and saw a peacock, a tri-colored heron and a turtle right beside the heron on the canal bank. They co-exist peacefully. An anhinga always spreads its wings to dry in the same spot by the lake every day.
God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
How has God promised to bless His people?
Numbers 6:24-26 May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.
God's blessing encompasses all of life. We live in his protection, his presence, his presence and his peace. Nothing this world offers can compare in scope or duration with the blessing of God.
Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
We are tempted to base our hope and confidence on worldly circumstances such as a good job or financial security. But these cannot compare to the promises that we have in God, the creator of heaven and earth. Put your hope where it cannot and will not be shaken.
2 Corinthians 12:13 The only thing I didn't do, which I do in the other churches, was to become a burden to you. Please forgive me for this wrong!
Jesus Christ blesses us with forgiveness and redemption. God the Father blesses us with the assurance that we are loved and of infinite worth. The Holy Spirit blesses us with fellowship and the continual presence of God.
Can we do things that affect how much God blesses us?
Psalm 34:11 The Lord God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the Lord withold from those who do what is right.
Proverbs 19:17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord-and he will repay you!
God promises to bless those who help the poor.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 5
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sky is clear and the air is cool right now, but soon the day will warm up and be ideal for beach goers, or bikers or anything that can be done outdoors. We still need rain, but the days are really nice. God is good!
Yesterday as I drove into the Park, a big, fat, shiny black gator climbed out of the canal and was resting his head on the grass, trying to get some rays. He was something to look at. He was right across from where all the new trees have been planted. I saw anhingas drying their outspread wings and dirty-beaked ibises prodding the ground. I took Mike a couple pieces of cake, which he is always glad to have, but Francia was not there. Because Mike was talking to someone, I didn't get to ask about her. Maybe next time.
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 5
O Lord, hear me as I pray:
pay attention to my groaning.
Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for I will never pray to anyone but you.
Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to
you and wait expectantly.
O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness;
You cannot tolerate the slightest sin.
Therefore , the proud will not be allowed
to stand in your presence,
for you hate all who do evil.
You will destroy those who tell lies.
The Lord detests murderers and deceivers.
Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house;
with deepest awe I will worship at your Temple.
Lead me in the right path, O Lord;
or my enemies will conquer me.
Tell me clearly what to do
and show me which way to turn.
...But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever.
Protect them, so all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For you bless the godly, O Lord,
surrounding them with your shield of love.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

The Value of Disaster
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, sure enough, the moon was gone, but Venus was shining brightly in the east, and way off in the heavens, a tiny light was flashing on and off. Was it an UFO or a plane ? Only God knows.
But a few minutes later, I looked out the window and saw white fog... very strange. "The fog crept in on little cat feet.." Yesterday, more trees were being planted in the Park, magnolias, among others. Pretty soon, the open area in the newly opened park of the Park will be filled with a small forest of trees. It will look much better than it does now, and will provide much needed shade.
We saw Mr. Peacock strutting his stuff with tail feathers spread, while Miss Peahen just looked at him and did her own thing. God is good!
From Quiet Moments with God:
For two years Thomas Edison attempted to invent a storage battery. His efforts greatly strained his finances, then in December 1914, nearly brought him to ruin when a spontaneous combustion broke out in his film room. Within minutes all the packing compounds, celluloid for records and film, and other flammable goods were ablaze. Though fire departments came from eight surrounding towns, the intense heat and low water pressure made attempts to douse the flames futile. Everything was destroyed.
While the damage exceeded $2 million the concrete buildings, thought to be fireproof, were insured for barely a tenth of that amount. The inventor's 24 year old son Charles searched frantically for his father, afraid that his spirit would be broken. Charles finally found him, calmly watching the fire, his face glowing in the reflection, white hair blowing in the wind.
"My heart ached for him," said Charles. "He was 67--no longer a young man--and everything was going up in flames . When he saw me, he shouted, "Charles, where's your mother?" When I told him I didn't know, he said, "Find here. Bring her here. She will never see anything like this as long as she lives."
Te next morning, Edison looked at the ruins and said, "There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God we can start anew." Three weeks after the fire, Edison managed to deliver the first phonograph.
With each new day, we have the opportunity to start again, to start fresh-no matter what our circumstances. Let the Lord show you how to salvage hope from debris. You never know what joys are ahead.
We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance.
Romans 5:3 NKJV
Difficulties are meant to
rouse not discourage. The human
spirit is to grow strong by conflict.

Grow in Your Christian Walk
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Did you see the slim crescent moon this morning with Venus about a foot below it? It was awesome!! It was low in the east and shining brightly, although that was the last of the moon until the new moon. There is something to be said about getting up early...:o)
Several new trees have been planted in the park in the part that has been opened recently. Arborvitae, and maple, I think, to fill in the bare spots. Of course, they will need water, but it honors Earth day. Lots of people were there, even though it was a work day, Saturday, a bridal party was there having their photos taken. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. Always something going on there.
From the book, God's Promises:
Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of your commandments,
For I delight in it.
Psalm 119:33-35
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep
His commandments. He who says, "I know Him,"
and does not keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love
of God is perfected in him. By this we know
that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him
ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 John 2:3-6
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Psoaring thru Psalm 37
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the overcast was hiding the waning moon and no stars were visible, but the air was much dryer than yesterday, so it is a beautiful day!
I did my walking at the Walmart superstore yesterday, instead of the Park, and for once, the store was not crowded and I found a close parking space. Our son, Brian, stopped at the store for me on his way home, and bought the vacuum cleaner I could not lift into a full cart. All I have to do is put it together and then, CLEAN!
I hope everyone is noticing the beauty of the jacarandas all over the city. Due to the drought conditions, I thought they would not be so pretty this year, but they are gorgeous! Nearly every street has at least one of the trees with lovely lavender blossoms falling.
I also saw several osprey nests with heads popping up in them. Soon there will be lots of young ospreys flying around. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Don't worry about the wicked.
Don't envy those who do wrong.
For like grass, they soon fade away.
Like springtime flowers, they soon wither.
Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take delight in the Lord,
And he will give you your heart's desires.
Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
He will make your innocence as clear as the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Stop your anger!
Turn from your rage!
Do not envy others---it only leads to harm.
For the wicked will be destroyed,
but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land....
It is better to be godly and have little than to be evil and possess much.
For the strength of the wicked will be shattered,
But the Lord takes care of the godly....
Don't be impatient for the Lord to act!
Travel steadily along his path.
He will honor you, giving you the land.
You will see the wicked destroyed....
Look at those who are honest and good,
for a wonderful future lies before those who love peace.
I always give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

As Time Goes By
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118 24 NKJV
The weather report was to have been for rain this morning, but blue skies and puffy white clouds are all I see now...maybe later today we will have some wet weather.
I had the opportunity to take an enjoyable, early morning walk Saturday, since our son took Louis out for breakfast. I really like the coolness of the air on my skin and few people on the boardwalk. Seems like Mama gator and the babies have left, but when I got to the tower I looked for ospreys and then, sure enough, on the other side of the lake there were two soaring, and one hovered briefly. Then I ruined the benefits of the walk by having MacDonald's sausage, cheese egg biscuit for breakfast. Oh, well, back to oatmeal!
From Quiet Moments for God:
"Where does the time go?" we ask. Here it is--a new day on the horizon--and we can't remember how it arrived so quickly. Why, last week seems like yesterday, and last year flew by like a video in fast-forward.
And worse, it's hard to remember what we spent it on.
Shouldn't I have more great memories? we wonder. What did I accomplish? Is this all I've done with all that time?
Singer Jim Croce mused in his hit song "Time in a Bottle" that there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do, once you find them." We search so hard for happiness, But then, we don't understand that happiness is not a goal to be won, but a by-product of a life well spent.
This "Old English Prayer" Offers simple instruction for enjoying the day that the Lord has made:
Take time to work, it is the price of success.
Take time to think, it is the source of power.
Take time to play, it is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read, it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness.
Take time to dream, it is hitching your wagon to a star.
Take time to love and be loved, it is the privilege of the gods.
Take time to look around, it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
True happiness comes from the job of deeds welldone, the zest of creating things new.

A Prayer
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the half moon was almost hidden by cloud cover, and no stars were visible. The wind is quite cool, and, although it is supposed to warm up to eighty today, right now it is cool enough for a light cover outside.
When I took a banana peel out to the staghorn a while ago, the squirrel family was busy circling round and round the oak, but they stopped to sit up and look at me, so I came in and got some peanuts and went back out. The biggest one came and got the peanut, the second one looked and looked and I finally had to throw it right in front of him, before he got it. The little hyper one was so busy chasing round and round the tree, I don't think he ever found the peanut, right at the base. They are fun to watch.
The Park was full of people when we drove in, after Louis' doctor appointment with the dermatologist. Looked like a family reunion under the shelter. But the tri-colored heron was busy looking for a fish, and the beautiful great white egret was alongside the heron , also looking. God is good!
I got ambitious yesterday and baked brownies with a kick. I put a can of chilies in the mix --the recipe was from a book I am reading. They are different all right. But I also put together an Angel Lush cake, which is more to my liking. Never hurts to try something new!
From Hymns For the Family of God:
Eternal Heavenly Father, we know that You are more eager to hear our prayers than we are to pray them, and more concerned to respond to them than we expect You to be. Forgive us now with that complete pardon that eases the troubled conscience and replaces its sharp torment with a permanent peace. This we ask that Your risen Son may be more alive among us.
Amen

Hope
Good Morning. Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the half moon was shining brightly, casting shadows in the south, and Venus was beaming almost as brightly in the east. A gorgeous sight! It was a little chilly last night, so it looks like one of the last "cold" spells of spring. But the sun is shining brightly, and temps will be in the eighties today! God is good!
Yesterday, I drove through the Park, and saw many people out enjoying the beautiful day after the storm. Bird-watchers were present, and even Mike, who was fishing for food for the aquarium residents, had his binocks raised and was intently looking at something high in the trees. I went bird-watching with him last year, and the first one we saw was on the cover of Peterson's Guide to Birds. I have not seen it since.
We have a new squirrel family in our oak and they seem to enjoy the peanuts I throw out, but one baby is very aggressive and chases the other all over the tree, trying to get the peanut from it! All the while, I am standing with more peanuts trying to coax it to come get its own... just like humans!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Hope
How can I have hope when times are tough?
Hebrews 10:23 Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Our hope is rooted in God's integrity and faithfulness. When everything else fall apart we can cling to the fact that God keeps his word.
John 14:1 Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Our troubles do not surprise the Lord and should not surprise us. Trouble is rampant in this fallen world. Our focus should be on Jesus who has overcome this world and all its troubles.
Isaiah 26:3-4 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always,, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Romans 15:13 I pray that God, who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
(this is my favorite scripture)
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Problems
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the beautiful day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!
After yesterday's all day rain and thunderstorms and tornadoes, it is good to see the sun, but after praying for rain for so long, I certainly cannot complain. We were spared any damage, but trees were uprooted and houses damaged north of here.
Since we did not leave the house yesterday, I have no report on the Park. I did something I don't usually do in the middle of the day and watched an old movie on TV. "Man from Snowy River." One of my favorites. :o)
2 Corinthians 4:8-10
We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed, we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed--always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which
are not seen are eternal.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Bring Problems to God
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the rainy, cloudy, morning that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I waited until the tornado watch and thunderstorms were over before logging on. Looks like all the TV meteorologists worked overtime today bringing us the pinpoint locations of the likely tornadoes and times of the oncoming storms. We got our fifteen minutes of good rain, and although we are still covered with clouds, we may not get any more. Whatever God sends we are grateful for. I watered the staghorn fern yesterday, along with all the azaleas and plumbago, which was nearly dead from lack of water, so this rain should really benefit them.
The tree-trimmers were working at the Park yesterday, taking care of the overgrowth on the oaks and planting several new trees in the newly opened park of the park.I was told by my friend who works at the park, that all the irrigation systems have been turned off, because of the severe drought.We all have to do our parts.
Job 11:13-18
If you would prepare your heart,
and stretch out your hands toward Him;
If iniquity were in your hand, and you put it far away,
And would not let wickedness dwell in your tents;
Then surely you could lift up your face without spot;
Yes, you could be steadfast, and not fear;
Because you would forget your misery,
And remember it as waters that have passed away,
And your life would be brighter than noonday.
Though you were dark, you would be like the morning,
And you would be secure, because there is hope;
Yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety.
I always give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Psoaring through Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside yesterday morning, it was the first time I had seen the moon, to realize that it had been full on Maundy Thursday night! For the first time in over a week, the sky was not overcast, so this morning I saw again, the three-quarter moon, almost dimming the glow of the stars.
We had a wonderful Easter Sunday, as I hope you all did. After dinner, we took a drive to Tarpon Springs and saw lots of people walking, shopping, eating and looking along the sponge docks. We drove by Spring Bayou where the cross is thrown every January and then visited Fred Howard Park. It was crowded with people having family picnics and children hunting Easter eggs. Sawgrass Park was also full of people enjoying the wonderful spring weather. God is good!
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
And He shall direct your pats.
Psalm 34:1-8
I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good,
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

A Good Friday Prayer
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, clouds covered the sky, but I heard an airplane and looked up and I could see the lights of the jet under the clouds, which must have been very high. Now the sun is breaking through and it promises to be a very warm day. God is good!
Well, I put down my book long enough to take a walk yesterday, and I was really rewarded. It was a great day to walk, with cool breezes and very warm sun. I stopped at the first shelter to look at the baby gators, three of them, with Mama hidden in the cove, and just across the canal, a Hawk was calling and calling. When I looked closer, I saw that a baby hawk, almost as big as Mom was in another tree. Ma hawk was talking to the young'un and then she flew right close to it, so the feathers flew out. I watched for a few minutes, as the little drama played out, then walked on to the tower,
Just as I approached the tower, I saw an osprey hovering right above the roof! I hurried to look over the lake and watched as three ospreys circled the lake, with the one hovering three more times! I was so in awe of how God created these creatures who are able to hover in mid-air so beautifully! It was amazing!
Good Friday
We acknowledge, O Lord, that there is so little in us that is lovable. So often we are not lovely in our thoughts, in our words, or in our deeds, And yet You love us still, with a love that neither ebbs nor flows, a love that does not grow weary, but is constant year after year, age after age.
O God, may our hearts be opened to that love today. With bright skies above us, the fields and woods and gardens bursting with new life and beauty, how can we fail to respond? With the clear notes of bird songs challenging us to praise, with every lowly shrub and blooming tree catching new life and beauty, our hearts indeed would proclaim You Lord, and we would invite You to reign over us and make us truly Your own. May Your healing love invade our inmost hearts, healing sorrow, pain, frustration, defeat, and despair.
May this day create within us a love for You of stronger stuff than vague sentimentality-a love which seeks to know Your will and do it. So grant that this day of hallowed remembrance may be the beginning of a new way of life for each of us, a new kind of living that shall be the best answer to the confusion and to the challenge of evil in our day. This we ask in Jesus name.
Amen

Maundy Thursday
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I snoozed a little later this morning, because I stayed up late reading a new book I bought yesterday..The Shack. It is a very interesting book that I highly recommend to all.
Anyway, I just found out this morning, thanks to my Moody devotional, that "Maundy" means "Commandment". How many of you knew that, and am I the only ignorant one? Just thought I'd throw that in.
Well, the black, shiny gator was sunning himself again yesterday afternoon at the park. He always attracts a lot of attention from people coming and going. If you don't see one on your walk, you can see him on the way out. :o) God is good!
From the Hymns For the Family of God:
Manhood
The world needs men
who cannot be bought;
whose word is their bond;
who put character above wealth;
who are larger than their vocations;
who do not hesitate to take chances;
who will not lose their identity in a crowd;
who will be as honest in small things as in great things;
who will make no compromise with wrong;
whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;
who will not say they do it "because everybody else does it,";
who are true to their friends through good report and evil report,
in adversity as well as in prosperity;
who do not believe that shrewdness and cunning are the best
qualities for winning success;
who are not ashamed to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;
who can say "no" with emphasis, although the rest of the world say "yes";
God, make me this kind of man.

Easter
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the air was cool, but clear and no wind! Now the sun is shining and the weather is warning up and all is good!
Yesterday , when I drove into the Park, a large black gator was posing on the bank for people taking photos. He had his mouth open, looking dangerous, and a great blue heron was a few feet away, calmly looking down at the water, for his lunch. No doubt it had one eye on the gator! I was surprised so many people were out on such a windy day! I found it hard to walk against the wind, so today's calm is a blessing. God is good!
This quote is from Hymns For the Family of God. I thought it appropriate for this coming Sunday:
Easter
Some years ago a newspaper editor telephoned and asked me to tell in a few words what Easter means to me. My testimony was this: Easter means Christ to me. It means Christ in His kingly splendor, Christ in His serene glory, Christ in His gracious condescension. This is because Easter is the return of Christ from inflicted violence, from induced death, from imprisonment in a tomb. Easter is Christ triumphant over all that sin and death and man could do to Him. Easter means Christ.
And where Christ goes, drama goes. For it is impossible to look anywhere in the Gospels and fail to find something powerful happening. This is because Christ is Himself the Gospel and He is life, abundant life,and His life means action, pilgrimage, arrival.
Easter means life. Christ defeated death in order that life in Him might always live. And it is life that we want, life in Christ. Whether we put it in words or not, our constant thought is "Life, more life, always more and more life." We want life in ourselves, in our loved ones, in our friends, the kind of life that cannot be diminished, the kind if life that always expands. Easter is Christ's victory over all that would restrict, deny and strangle life. "For to me to live is Christ." That is Easter.

Calming down
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the windy, chilly day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I am a little later this morning, because our friend, David, who mows the yard for us just finished his work. I did not really expect him this morning, but am glad he came. Just a little rain caused the grass to grow! God is good!
Yesterday I saw a roseate spoonbill in the lake near us, and wondered if they know how breathtakingly beautiful they are. I am sure the peacocks do, because they strut, but the spoonbills just go on scooping along gathering whatever it is they eat. God gave us pretty critters to enjoy. Speaking of critters, a new crop of squirrels have taken up residence in our trees and they seem to look for peanuts. One chased the other all over the tree, before listening to me and getting his own peanut. Little rascals!
From Quiet Moments with God:
It's virtually impossible for you to sleep if you are wound up. Do memories of the day's events keep you from falling asleep? Do you sometimes feel as if you spent the day pushing a boulder up a mountain with a very small stick? If so, memorize these words.
I lift up my eyes to the hills---where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2
Are you worried about making mistakes, disappointing your boss, or letting your family down? If so, memorize these words.
He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalm 121:3-4
Does unnecessary anxiety sometimes get the best of you, causing you to fear for your own safety or health? If so, memorize these words:
The Lord watches over you--the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
Psalms 121:5-6
Are you already starting to agonize over next month's deadline, next year's taxes, the college tuition that has to be paid ten years from now, or funding your won retirement in thirty years? Are you asking all of that on when your head hits the pillow at night? If so, memorize these words:
The Lord will keep you from all harm--he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:7-8
You have just memorized an entire Psalm! Repeat ti to yourself every night. Substitute My for Your and Me for You. Then rest in the knowledge that God has you, your life, and the rest of the universe under control.
Worry is an indication that we think God cannot look after us.

Wisdom from Ecclesiastes
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the overcast, windy day and birthday for Daryl that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I arose at about 5:45, the temp was 75, but that is supposed to be as warm as it gets today, with the cold front moving in and bringing cooler weather the next two days! Well. we know that it will be a long, hot summer, so we enjoy the coolness while we can!
Lots of people were at the park yesterday...even a truck selling T-shirts and other stuff. I don't know what was going on, but the same thing happens every year about this time.
We saw a peacock with the tail feathers spread out, strutting his stuff in front of a garage door. Funny, how different the tail feathers look from the back! Not nearly as pretty! But God is good!
This is for people who make a major job change:
What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has make everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor---it is the gift of God.
Ecclesiates 3:9-13
Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I mist leave it to the man who will come after me. And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. this also is vanity. Therefore I turned my heart and despaired of all the labor in which I had toiled under the sun.
For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight, but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Ecclesiastes 2:18-20, 26
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
Happy Birthday,Daryl!

Guidance
Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Rain, rain, beautiful rain. I don't have a rain gauge, but we must have gotten about two inches. I could almost hear the grass and bushes slurping it up! It's still pretty dark and cloudy, but the rain is supposed to be over. God is good to provide for our needs!
When I went in to the park yesterday, I noticed something shiny blue by the water and, being curious, parked and walked up on the berm to see. Well, somebody did a big "Uh, OH,!"
The shiny blue thing was a tractor mower that had the front end in the water. Three guys and a truck were standing around deciding what to do to get it out. The truck did not have a winch, but I have seen the crew that used to work at the park, winch large trees across the canal and guide them in place. I guess that is what inexperienced workers can do when mowing on a slope. Not a good thing!
From the little book God's Promises for Men:
God's love is with a man When;
He relies on God to Guide His Life.
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He
increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk, and not faint.
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
HOPE
"Of all the forces that make for a
better world, none is so powerful as hope.
With hope, one can think, one can work,
and one can dream dreams. If you have hope,
you have everything."

Hope
Good morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside this morning, the fog was still in the air and the sky was overcast. Then, while we were eating breakfast I heard a sprinkle, and sure enough, it was raining for a second or two. Well, every little bit helps! Now the sky is clearing up and the sun is shining. It promises to be another warm, humid day! God is good!
I noticed a hawk at the park, zipping across in front of us with something trailing from its claws...either a long twig or a snake. Seems like spring has brought all kinds of feathered friends building nests and feeding their young. I was in the Publix parking lot and saw the osprey on her nest. They have to go a long ways to get their food when they are in the city like that, but water is everywhere, so I guess they can fish or get lizards or small animals to feed their young. They provide somehow!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
How can I have hope when times are tough?
Hebrews 10:23
Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Our hope is rooted in God's integrity and faithfulness. When everything else falls apart we can cling to the fact that God keeps his word.
John 14:1 Don't be troubled . You trust God, now trust in me.
John 10:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Our troubles do not surprise the Lord and should not surprise us. Trouble is rampant in this fallen world. Our focus should be on Jesus who has overcome this world and all its troubles.
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Psalm 130:7 O Israel, hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is unfailing love and an overflowing supply of salvation.
Our hope is rooted in the wonderful acts of God in creation and history. The Bible gives full testimony to the fact that God is able to deliver us from any and every circumstance. He will either get us out of it or bring us through it --for his glory and our joy.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Step Right Up
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the warm day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, yesterday I decided to take a walk, sore foot or not! So I went to the Park and, even though there were hordes of children and adults, started walking on the boardwalk, I was able to see the baby gator, by finding an opening by a little boy. then I stopped by the new gator nest which is so overgrown, it is hardly visible through the shrubs.
The trail to it seems to be well traveled, so I guess Mama gator is going back and forth to the canal, some distance away, to the nest. I then plodded on to the tower and stopped to watch an osprey slowly gliding in circles to the thermals. While I watched it, it never had to flap its wings to keep going..the wind was quite strong.
I started on back then, because the sun was getting quite warm, but it was an enjoyable walk. God is good!
From Quiet Moments with God:
Getting away from it all takes on a whole new meaning when you decide, as a young Scottish girl did, to walk around the world. A troubled home life convinced her she needed a change of scenery, as well as a challenge that would test her mettle.
How does one go about waking around the world?
In Ffyona's case, she spend eleven years and covered more than nineteen thousand miles walking from northern Scotland to southern England; New York to Los Angeles; Sydney to Perth, Australia; and South Africa to Morocco. Along the way, she fought disease, poisonous insects, bad weather, blisters, stonings, and loneliness.
To keep herself going, she had to come up with a way to motivate her often tired feet. She quickly discovered that if she could focus her mind on doing what had to be done to make it through each phase of the walk, her body would do the rest. The stronger her mind, the better her body performed,
Another of Ffyona's important discoveries was that she needed to take one day at a time. Each day she would say to herself, "If I walk ten miles right now, I can stop and have a meal." Building in breaks and small rewards along the way made it much easier for her to stay committed to her bigger goal."
Walking seems like such a simple thing to do. But, oh, the power of a walk! Even when we have no particular destination, our feet can take us to a new place and give us both a physical and psychological break from where we"ve been. Walking away from a heated debate is sometimes the smartest thing to do and the best way to protect a relationship. Crossing a room to talk to someone who looks lonely is often the first step in building a new friendship.
"The steps of good men are directed by the Lord."
Psalm 37:23 TLB
When we are obedient, God guides our steps and our stops.
Corrie Ten Boom
Blessed are those who hear the joyful blast of the trumpet, for they shall walk in the light of your presence.
Psalm 89:15 TLB
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
