Good Morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I know I am late again this morning...just moving slowly in this cool weather. But the sun is shining through the clouds and the wind has calmed from yesterday, so that's good! I had to run a couple errands yesterday and decided to treat myself to a half price milkshake at Steak and Shake, because I was thirsty.
I took the shake to the park and sat for a few minutes with the windows down, just enjoying the peace. Of course, the squirrels were running around everywhere, but I did not see any ibis or egrets. However, it was still a lovely day and I was glad to have that place to go for awhile.
I was watching all the pictures of the devastation in the eastern states, including NY. I just cannot imagine no subways, and this morning I heard that Manhattan is totally without power. The airport is still closed and I saw the picture of many cabs sitting in a flooded parking lot in NJ. Just incredible! Another tragedy is the sinking of the Bounty. I remember touring it when it was first anchored at the Pier, on its first trip here. The Captain, who is still missing is from here. Prayers go out to the people who have lost homes and will be rebuilding for months to come. But, through it all, God is still good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
How can God help me cultivate good habits?
1 Timothy 4:7-9 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives tales.
Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Physical
exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important for it promises
a reward in both this life and the next.
1 Corinthians 9:25 All athletes practice strict self control. They do it for a prize that
will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
Godly habits--such as reading the Bible, praying and giving our time and
money in service-give us spiritual stamina, purpose, and direction for our lives.
They also help us keep our eyes on the eternal prize.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

How can I be Joyful in Hard Times?
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sweater weather today! I added another blanket last night and was glad I did! While Sandy is still doing terrific damage in the east and now the midwest, we have blue skies and lots of chilly wind. But the sun is shining and it will warm up some, I'm sure.
Besides laundry yesterday, I did some cleaning out of cupboards, and reading, but not much else. I needed to do grocery shopping, so decided to go to Winn Dixie, since my cleaning lady and friend said she gets free gas from shopping there. Well, even though it is the closest of several supermarkets, I have never liked shopping at WD, and will not again for major stuff. I think they have raised the prices on most items I usually buy, just so they can offer free gas with some items...none of which I bought. Oh, well, lesson learned. I will continue my Publix and Sweetbay shopping, both of which are better stores. Of course, it could have been the awful choice of music that was blasting and the screaming voice of the singer(?) as well as the small people running around and screeching that made the shopping not a pleasure! Just call me an old fuddy duddy, but I think some control should be the parents responsibility. Enough said on that subject!
Later on, I visited the park and found peace and quiet there, even though the wind was blowing and not many people were in sight. The small gopher tortoise was racing ;o) around and the anhinga drying wings while on the weir were the familiar sights. Several tables had people eating and one was studying at a lone table. A good place for bookwork, except I would be looking at the scenery and the water as well as the trees with the moss swaying in the wind! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine, even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.
Philippians 4:4, 12
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again...rejoice! I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, and plenty or little.
Joy is a choice. We may not realize it , but we choose our moods and our attitudes. God's promises in Christ are the basis for choosing joy no matter what we face.
The promise of our future resurrection helps us look beyond the problems of daily life. It is not escapism or wishful thinking. It is a reality that fuels our joy by keeping things in perspective.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,

How can I be sure God will direct my future in this life?
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Windy and brisk today! Last night I put a light blanket on the bed for the first time this fall and was I glad I did! The house has cooled down to about 70 and while that is nice to some people, it is chilly to me when I am sleeping! I hated to get out from under the covers !
I saw some interesting things this weekend. When I was going around Lynch Lake, I saw a woodstork actually eating something. I have only watched them as they just sit around all huddled up, looking discouraged. And very near above it was an osprey perched on a wire. I love seeing wildlife all around. When I was in the park, a beautiful white egret was curling its neck preening and a flock of ibis were swarming together pecking all around.
Friday evening I watched livestream the Cleveland Hi, Cleveland, TN. football team play their last game, but mostly I watched the band march and play, because Matthew beats the big bass drum. The picture is actually on Youtube simultaneously! And that band has been invited to Universal Studios in Dec. for the Macy's Christmas parade!. so Brian and I are planning to be there if all works out. That is something exciting to look forward to! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 32:8 The Lord says,"I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you."
The Lord directs our steps. Though the pathway may lead through dark valleys or seem to take unnecessary detours, we will one day look back and discover that the Lord's way was best.
Jeremiah 29:11
"I know the plans I have for you,"says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
To often we doubt God's care. We are tempted to think he is neglecting us or giving us the bare minimum. We have hope in the knowledge that God, our loving Creator, will always give us his best.
Philippians 1:6
I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.
God finishes what he starts. We should not allow the limitations of our finite perspective to blind us to the promise that God will complete the work in us. Our future is secure in Christ.
I always thank God for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

A Word from Hebrews 4
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have overcast skies this morning, and a possibility of rain, which we haven't seen for a couple weeks or more. In fact, the street gutters are almost dried up in front, so that means it has been dry. When my handyman was here, he tried to shut off the water at the meter, but it was so full of water, that he could not see the valve!
I discovered that Checkers has a better fish sandwich than MacDonalds, which I told you about the other day. Someone should clue the food editor, or I think the art editor at the Times about it! I never eat the burgers at Checkers, but the fish sandwich is better, anyway. I stopped in there, after I had finished shopping and going to the park. Not many people were at the park, but the weather was gorgeous once again. I saw a family of moorhens which was really cute. The babies were carefully tended by mom and pa and all were in the water. I also saw a large flock of ibis around Lynch lake , where they love to hang out. Sunday afternoon, I saw the flock all taking a siesta, in the shade of a small tree. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is full of living power.
It is sharper than the sharpest knife,
cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires.
It exposes us for what we really are.
Nothing in all creation can hide from him.
Everything is naked and exposed before his
eyes. This is the God to whom we must
explain all that we have done.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Do the right thing
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another cool, sunshiny fall day starts off this morning, but it will be warmer this afternoon, I am sure. There is quite a breeze blowing now, and the acorns are falling, so even though the front porch was clear for about fifteen minutes yesterday, today it is full again!
Speaking of acorns falling, something is going on with my chimney. We have a fireplace and I know the top of the chimney is covered, but I have heard noises inside it and sounds like something is dropping on the damper. I will have to think of someone who can climb up on the roof and take a look. I am afraid to open the damper, because of what might come out! This is in the back of the house, but there are also oak trees back there.
Yesterday I made another trip to the library, which was fairly quiet, though very busy, with a lot of people inside. Since the kids were still in school, only a couple were inside and they were very quiet. This is only one branch and since I see many people carrying books out, it is good to know that the written page is still appreciated! I have always had a love of reading and used to read ahead in my sister's Literature books she brought home from school. She was a couple years ahead of me.
I took a little drive to the park and it was also very busy. The weather has been so nice, it is good to take advantage of the great outdoors! The benches were almost full as people just sat and enjoyed the breeze and the water flowing nicely. Squirrels were scampering about, as usual. and dog walkers were getting exercise along with their dogs. I did not see our feathered friends , which was very unusual, but, as usual, God is good!
From the little devotional book Knowing God:
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:6 NIV
If you want to know God, you should obey God, but obeying Him isn't always easy. You live in a world that presents countless temptations to stray far from God's path. So here's some timely advice: when you're confronted with sin, walk-or better yet, run-in the opposite direction.
When you seek righteousness for yourself-and when you seek the companionship of people who do likewise-you will reap the spiritual rewards that God has in store for you.
When you live in accordance with God's commandments, you will be blessed. When you genuinely seek to follow in the footsteps of God's Son, you will experience God's presence, God's peace, and God's abundance.
So make yourself this promise: Support only those activities that further God's Kingdom and your own spiritual growth. Then, prepare to reap the blessings that God has promised to all those who live according to His will and His Word.
-Great Thoughts-
Come work for the Lord. The work is hard, the hours are long, and the pay is low, but the retirement benefits are out of this world.

Warning about self confidence
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Those cooler temps felt good as I was standing outside talking with Jason, the yard man. I noticed he had not broken a sweat, so he was appreciating the cool breezes, also. I never know when he will come, but I heard the sound of his trimmer as I was finishing dressing and starting to go prepare my breakfast. He did some extra work today, like trimming the neighbor's hedge, which borders my yard, and also taking care of the podacarpus in the back yard. The grass has slowed down in growth, so he only comes about every ten days now...,the acorns are blown off the driveway for the next fifteen minutes, then, I suppose it will be covered again. Sigh. If I want the shade, I have to put up with the tree fall.
I had kind of a busy Sunday. After church, I went home for lunch, then got ready to go back to church for a dear friend's memorial services. I picked up Phyllis and drove her to church and stayed awhile afterwards while she greeted and chatted with a lot of her friends. I went to speak to Max's son, who gave a nice eulogy and thanked him for posting updates on FB about his dad. I was surprised when he asked if I was Amaryllis, because I had not introduced myself! He said his Dad and Mom had often spoken of me and Louis. I am still a little puzzled about how he knew who I was, but I guess the Holy Spirit spoke to him.
Saturday, I decided to get the van washed at the Touch-free car wash, but the machine would not take my 5 dollar bill. It kept spitting it out, so I finally backed up and drove away. Maybe I will try the one on 66th St. So, later on, I drove to the park, which was really busy with lots of people and cars. Everyone was out enjoying the weather! I watched a flock of ibis ignoring the people and doing their pecking thing. God is good!
-- From the Promise Bible NLT:
James 4:13-17
Look here, you people who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town
and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.
"How do you know what will happen tomorrow?
For your life is like the morning fog--it's here for a little while, then it's gone.
"What you ought to say is, "If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that."
Otherwise your will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

God offers comfort to all
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of sunshine, few clouds and cooler temps on the way! Should be a beautiful weekend! Yesterday it was very hot in the sun, which I usually try to stay out of, but I was walking into Beall's in the sun, and couldn't help that!
I returned a book and checked out some more at the Library, and there was a younger male librarian checking books. Now, I don't want to seem prejudiced or anything, but it just seems strange to me that a guy would choose library science as his future career. Maybe that is because I hardly ever see men in that profession...just a thought. But, anyway, he was efficient, but not as friendly as the other, older man that works there. After I left there, I went on to the park and enjoyed the quiet, sunny, shady shadows on the freshly mowed berms; long strings of gray moss swaying in the breezes and squirrels scampering across the road and climbing up the trees. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts us, it is so we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in suffering, you will also share God's comfort.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Living to please others
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! What a contrast between today and yesterday! Lots of sunshine and very few clouds today...yesterday all clouds and the sun didn't peek through until about 5 PM just before sunset! I noticed the rain delay in St. Louis for the ball game and the postponement of the game in NY, I know Tropicana Field has a lot of drawbacks, but games were not called because of rain!
I had a call from my house cleaners yesterday, that they would be coming in 45 minutes or so, so I thought I would have time to go to CVS, to pick up a few things. When I got back, they were already cleaning and kidded me about being gone. They know where the key is hidden, so they just let themselves in. I now have them coming every week, instead of two weeks. This is a luxury I allow myself at this time in my life and I am thankful for it!
When I opened the front door yesterday to get the paper, a little frog hopped away. Guess he was in a good place under the light, to catch bugs for his breakfast. Speaking of the paper, this morning I was reading about the fallen champion, Lance Armstrong. I thought it doesn't pay to put your hopes in humans because they fail, but Jesus never does! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Romans 15:5-9
May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, each with the attitude of Christ Jesus toward the other. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So accept each other just as Christ has accepted you, then God will be glorified. Remember that God came as a servant to the Jews to show that God is true to the promises he made to his ancestors. And he came so that Gentiles might also give glory to God for his mercies to them.
I always give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love God and get busy
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! No sun this morning and the prediction is for rain later on, but that's okay, since we have not had rain for a week or so. We are slowly creeping into fall with high temps in the eighties and low at night in the low seventies. Feels good!
After I did some grocery shopping yesterday, I drove to the park and saw freshly mowed grass, squirrels, of course, and an egret in the canal. There were quite a few people out enjoying the sun and fresh air. Then, later on, I went to the Post office and since it was close to the Dunkin' Donuts, I picked up three pumpkin muffins. They are huge and so good! I am glad when pumpkin season rolls around, just so I get their muffins! I can only eat half at a time, but that makes them last longer. God is good! ( am not brave enough to try the latte.)
From the little devotional book Knowing God:
So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
Galatians 6:9 NLT
The old saying is both familiar and true: actions speak louder than words. And , as believers, we must beware: our actions should always give credence to the changes that Christ can make in the loves of those who walk with Him.
God calls upon each of us to act in accordance with His will and with respect for His commandment. If we are to be responsible believers, we must realize that it is never enough simply to hear the instructions of God, we must also live by them.
And it is never enough to wait idly by while others do God's work here on earth; we, too, must act. Doing God's work is a responsibility that each of us must bear, and when we do, our loving Heavenly Father rewards our efforts with a bountiful harvest.
It is by acts and not by ideas that people live.
Harry Emerson Fosdick
Today's Prayer
Dear Lord, I have heard your Word, and I have felt Your presence in my heart; let me act accordingly. Let my words and deeds serve as a testimony to the changes. You have made in my life. Let me praise you, Father, by following in the footsteps of Your Son, and let others see Him through me.
Amen
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalm 51
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We are still waiting for the lower humidity to come, but maybe one of these days....The temps are lower, though, and the water is gradually drying up in the street gutters. I called the city rep about a pothole in front of the house and sure enough, someone came to check it out, but nothing has been done about it yet. Guess it takes a while to schedule something like that. Actually, to my knowledge, this street has not been resurfaced or had anything done to it since we moved in 43 years ago. Amazing the shape it is in!
Well, yesterday I had a quiet day, which I will have to make up for today. Shopping, etc. So. whenever I procrastinate, I have to make up for it all in one day. Serves me right! One thing that needs doing again is sweeping off the acorns from the porch! I can be hit on the head while sweeping, because they are falling so fast! They are getting crunched all over the driveway, and that makes them hard to scrape up.
I got to the park and saw the usual anhinga sunning the wings on the weir, and a couple of great blue herons down in the canal near the entrance bridge. They are so beautiful! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 51:7-15
Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Oh, give me back my joy again,
you have broken me-- now let me rejoice.
Don't keep looking at my sins,
Remove the stain of my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
Renew a right spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence,
and don't take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me again the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you.
Then I will teach your ways to sinners,
and they will return to you.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Cruisin' thru Colossians
Good Morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It was overcast when I slid out of bed and maybe it was just fog, because now the sun is shining and it looks like another beautiful day . Should be less humidity tomorrow, because yesterday, while sweeping off the porch (acorns falling faster than I can sweep) it was warm and not too comfy.
My cleaning ladies who are friends and live across the street, had a yard sale Saturday. They had invited me and other neighbors to join in, but I could not face digging out all the stuff, and then having to gather it all up if it did not sell. Well, they were up at 5:30, and set everything out in one driveway, had a lemonade stand for the granddaughter, and they intended to shut down by 3:30. They did not have nearly the traffic I thought they would have, and they actually were working until 5:30 or 6 getting leftovers packed up. I was so glad I did not take anything over! Cheryl said, "Never again!". She has a lot of energy, but she was exhausted! They advertised in the Times and put a lot of signs out, but still did not have much traffic.
On the way to church yesterday, I noticed a large flock of ibis at Lynch Lake and two somber looking woodstorks all hunched up. There seemed to be lots of activity with the feathered friends! Later on, at Sawgrass, I saw lots of people but not too many birds. However, the butterflies were flitting all over. I wish I knew the names of most of them. They used to have a display of butterflies in the building, but I have not noticed it lately. On my way out of the park, I saw the wet anhinga drying out his wings on the weir. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Colossians 1:9-12
So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good kind things for others.
All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.
We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins....
I always thank God for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Be Silent
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Love this cooler weather and drier air! Temps in the low seventies this morning and the A/C is hardly working! Great!
Well, I watched the debate last night and was trying to read a novel at the same time, but really got caught up in it! All I can say is, I will be glad when all the election stuff is over, so the phone calls and campaign literature will stop.. and the ads on TV! Seems to me, all the money contributed to the candidates to get them elected or re-elected could be put to better use by helping suffering people out. Just sayin'.
My yard got mowed, edged and blowed yesterday, and it really needed it! My yard man lost his helper, so he now works alone. But he does the extra work that I point out to him, actually, it is not extra, he just doesn't notice what needs doing unless I tell him. Then I went to get my hair done and got there too early because I was reading and misread the time. So, I drove to Mickey D's and got a fish sandwich. Now, I probably have been to that place maybe one time in the past several years, so because I read a good review in the Times about their fish sandwiches, I decided to try one. Actually, it was good, if you like tartar sauce, which I do!
I drove through the Park on my way home, still enjoying the Twix bars that Mari gave me. I really think they are my favorite! The grass was freshly mowed and the water remains high in the canal. I think the work on the lake is just about finished, and that may be why the water is high. I saw an anhinga sitting on the weir and ibis near the canal. It was a beautiful day and God is good!
From the little devotional book, Knowing God:
Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him.
Psalm 17:7 HCSBSometimes God speaks loudly and clearly. More often he speaks in a quiet voice--and if you are wise, you will be listening carefully when He does. To do so, you must carve out quiet moments each day to study his word and sense His direction.
Can you quiet yourself long enough to listen to your conscience? Are you attuned to the subtle guidance of your intuition?
Are you willing to pray sincerely and then to wait quietly for God's response? Hopefully so. Usually God refrains from sending his messages on stone tablets or city billboards. More often, He communicates in subtler ways. If you sincerely desire to hear his voice, you must listen carefully. and you must do so in the silent corners
of your quiet, willing heart.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! No rain is predicted for the next week or so, and the humidity is lower, so at last, it is beginning to feel like fall! And my driveway is covered with acorns which need to be blown off whenever the yard man comes.
I have a new kitchen faucet installed, by my new handyman! He came yesterday and is really good at what he does. He is a very big man, and had to scrunch himself under the sink to do most of the work of the installation. He was also sitting on the floor with his legs bent under him! Ouch! I told him I used to be flexible, but those days are gone forever! I am so happy my dear friend referred me to him, because he does just about everything that I need done, so I am happy to have a capable person to do the work!
After Rick left, I was able to run some errands, including getting gas at Walmart, where I paid 3.46 a gallon with my card! Always happy to see prices go down! I took a ride through the peaceful park and saw an ibis almost hidden in a tree, but because of the whiteness, he was just visible. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 103:1-8
Praise the Lord, I tell myself;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, I tell myself,
and never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He ransoms me from death and surrounds me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle's!
My Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel.
the Lord is merciful and gracious;
he is slow to get angry and full of unfailing love....
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Catching up
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! No rain yesterday, but overcast skies which made it nice and cooler, and today may be the same before our humidity is less. We may have fall yet before Halloween!
Sunday, we had a most meaningful communion service, with hand washing before partaking of the elements. Then, after church, we had a picnic in the parking lot to celebrate FCC's 37th anniversary! Thanks to the comfortable umbrellas and overcast skies, it was perfect weather! I chose a table and then was interested to see who God brought to sit with me. I was pleased to have a young couple with their 2 year old daughter, and a new couple sit and chat awhile and then Martha Ann and Joyce came and Tim had everyone sing Happy Birthday to Martha Ann. (Her 80th is today). Then, later, another friend came and squeezed in and had dessert with us. It was a good afternoon!
Yesterday, Brian invited me to go the Sarasota to have lunch at Der Dutchman, a huge Mennonite restaurant, even bigger than Miller's in Bradenton! After I finished my slice of peanut butter pie, we took a drive to St. Armand's Key and discovered the shopping district was packed with shoppers, and diners at the many restaurants.
Before we had lunch, we covered some of the stores on the same complex and I bought a Christmas gift at Miller's furniture store. They have beautiful wood furniture of all kinds, including roll top desks! and lots of gift items. We also visited the quilt shop, but no quilts were for sale. Lots of quilting supplies, plus a huge quilt being stitched by two ladies; one Mennonite and one not. could tell by the cap she was wearing...
On the way back to the interstate, I saw a flock of roseate spoonbills in a water-filled ditch beside the highway! Gorgeous! God is good!
A Prayer From a Friend:
Dear Jesus,
I long for my spiritual and physical life to become such a blend that I can not separate the two. I also desire to be a Lighthouse for your love with friends, neighbors, and extended family. I want to be able to do more for others than what I can accomplish on my own. I am so thankful for how I have been pulled out of the darkness and into the light. I am so thankful that you regenerate and prepare me for each day. What an awesome thought to know that I am your brother - and God's child. I so desire to receive power and direction from you to sharing hope and direction with other people. I come to you and give you my life today-seeking the love, guidance, power, and majesty of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Amen
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

One Scripture
Good Morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners ! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well! What a surprise in the weather yesterday! It was so hot around noon. I was sweeping the porch and the heat felt like the middle of summer, instead of Oct. No breeze and a lot of sun. Then, as I was getting ready to leave for a church meeting, the rains came and it was a real thunderstorm, so that canceled my plans to go out. But, today, the sun is shining and still not much breeze, but there is always A/C to keep us cool!
I watched a silly squirrel playing in the hedge yesterday...he wiggled all the way through, then climbed up on a very long branch, which swayed down with his weight and then he scrambled off when it went back up and leaped onto another branch. No wonder they eat so many acorns, with all that energy!
I went to the park in the afternoon and saw a beautiful, graceful white egret taking off and what looked like a small gator near the weir. When I came back out the head was not there, so maybe it was a gator. Anyway, God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 139:23,24
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Matthew 6
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This is a much different morning than yesterday. We have bright sun and few clouds, but the water is still dripping off the roof, so that was a lot of water that came down! Our street gutters have not been dry for weeks. But we will take what God gives, because dry times will come!
I did not go out at all yesterday because of the rain, but my cleaning ladies came in and we had a conversation about the big yard sale they have coming up. They are inviting all the neighbors who want to join in, so it might turn out to be a neighborhood sale! I have lots of stuff that needs to be cleaned out, but I get weary just thinking about labeling and sorting and packing. They offered to take the stuff and sell it for me, but I am not inclined to do that right now. Kim's granddaughter is going to have a lemonade stand, (she's only about 4 or 5) and she is really excited about it. Sounds like a big crowd for a while
Well, I said farewell and wait until next year to the Rays last night. It was fun to see Longoria's three home runs and to see the Rays win their last game. Also, sad to see B. J. Upton's tears in the dug out as he probably played his last game with the Rays. He will be a free agent and stands to make mega bucks if another club picks him up, but he has played with the Rays since he was 19. Sigh.Only 131 days until they play again! God is Good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Teaching about money and possession
Matthew 6:25-31
So I tell you, don't worry about everyday
life---whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes.
Doesn't life consist of more than
food and clothing? Look at the birds. They don't need
to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your
Heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more
valuable to him than they are. Can all your worries add
a single moment to your life? Of course not....
So don't worry about having enough food, drink or
clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so
deeply concerned about these things? You're
heavenly Father already knows all your needs,
and he will give you all you need from
day to day if you live for him and make the
Kingdom of God your primary concern...
I always give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

valuable to him than they are.
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis
