I Got It, I Got it!

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  I noticed last night when I went into the kitchen, that the indoor outdoor thermometer read 87 at 8:30! This morning it is down to 83...not a big difference! But the wind is blowing and the sun is shining, so it is all good!

Well, there were three ball games on TV last night, all at the same time. So, I watched the Rays lose, flipping over to the Bucs to see them eventually lose, and watched parts of the S. Carolina game, which they lost! I guess it just wasn't my night to see my teams win. Bummer. Seems like the Rays players are making a lot of unnecessary mistakes, so they can probably kiss the playoffs goodbye! They apparently do not hear me telling them what to do as I yell at the TV!

I slept a little better last night, and expect to do even better tonight, so God is good!

From the devotional book Quiet Moments with God:

I Got it, I Got It!

No discipline seems pleasant at the time...However, it produces a
harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Hebrews 12:11

"No,! No! No! That's not the way," hollered the coach  as he  watched what
seemed like his entire T-ball team chase after the ball and fight one another
for it. While all of the outfielders and half of the infielders joyously wrestled
for the baseball, the batter ran from base to base and finally crossed home
plate.

The next batter stepped to the plate and promptly lofted the ball toward right
center field. Immediately, all four outfielders screamed, "I got it, " and the
chase for the ball was on again. An instant replay, it seemed.

Again the coach yelled, " Same team, guys, we're al on the same team. Don't
fight for the ball!"

Although it did seem like chaos most of the time, the young boys and girls
were learning the basics of the game of baseball and teamwork. By the year's
end, progress had been made. The fights for the ball with teammates were
far fewer, and the players were learning to go to positions to await throws. In
fact, they even recorded outs.

How did this happen? It happened as the coach applied discipline and enforced
rules during practice. At times the players would get their feelings hurt and even cry when they were not allowed to participate because of misbehavior or
unruliness. Yet, they did become better players.

The Christian walk also requires chastening if we are to progress from being
unruly children to successful servants. Hannah Whitall Smith says it beautifully;
"Look upon your chastening as God's chariots sent to carry your soul into the high places of spiritual achievement."

GOD WHO TRULY LOVES
WILL CHASTISE WELL.

joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I stepped outside earlier, I was surprised by the pleasant feel of the air!  There must have been lower humidity, but something was different. Felt good! More sunshine and heat today, but it will soon be September!

I baked some cheddar cheese biscuits from a Red Lobster box mix, last night for my supper, to go with some stew. I must say, they really tasted like the ones in Red Lobster! The recipe said it made ten biscuits, but I got a lot more than that, so I have some nice leftovers! This is apparently a new mix, because Publix had it prominently displayed in front of the diary stuff when I shopped on Friday. It was an impulse buy, but one that turned out well!

My cleaning ladies came earlier than I expected while I was finishing lunch. They had both forgotten their cell fones, so could not let me know, but that was no problem. They just start in the back of the house, and work toward the kitchen, They are planning to take off for a week next month for another vacation. so I will have to be careful not to mess up too much!

I drove over to the park later on, just in time to see a young gator climb out of the canal and walk across the concrete weir, and slip down the other side! He must have been about four feet long and was walking really fast! I didn't even have time to get my cell out to take a picture. But, God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 8:23-28
And even we Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us
as a foretaste of future glory, also groan to be released from pain
and suffering. We too, wait anxiously for that day when God will
give us our full rights as his children, including the new bodies
he has promised us. Now that we are saved, we eagerly look
forward to this freedom. For if you already have something, you
don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we
don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don't even
know what we should pray for, or how we should pray. But the
Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed
in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit
is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with
God's own will. And we know that God causes everything to work
together for the good of those who love God and are called
according to his purpose for them...

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Colossians

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sun and heat and still August creeps on toward Sept. But I think the butterflies like the heat, because they seem to really be flitting by toward the back yard in the mornings, where the butterfly beauty bush is growing.  There are so many pretty ones!

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I tossed and turned and finally got up about 1:30 and took a Tylenol and read for about thirty minutes, then crawled back in bed and finally got a few hours sleep. I will probably be ready for a nap this afternoon, but my cleaning ladies will be coming then...

I did get over to the park yesterday and saw three ibis in the canal, which is overgrown with weeds and very little water. I also saw a great blue heron. They are so majestic in their stance, and when they stretch their necks! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 3:23-27

Work hard and cheerfully as whatever you do,
as though you were working for the Lord rather
than for people. Remember that the Lord will give
you an inheritance as your reward and the Master
you are serving is Christ.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We still have wind, but a lot of sun and more puffy, white clouds, today. Yesterday we had no rain at all but temps in the nineties! It was hot! I will be glad to see Sept. come, because Oct. follows and that means cooler weather!

I was reminded that St. Petersburg seems like a big city when you go downtown and see all the activity with shops, museums, and restaurants; condos and a beautiful waterfront. But just as we saw friends in Jack's Grill Saturday night, I was in the library yesterday and another friend came and spoke to me! Now, that seems like a small town, "(where everybody knows your name)." I have lived here all my life, having been born here, so I should have lots of friends, but I mostly stay in my own end of town these days , so friends are scattered all over...just so I am not seen in a bar...smile.

I visited the park and did not see much activity from people. School was still in session and the weather was very hot, I saw two anhingas and three spoonbills in the canal. My favorite! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, since we have been made right in
God's sight by faith, we have peace with God
because of what Jesus Christ, our Lord has done
for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us
into this place of highest privilege where we now
stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward
to sharing God's glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and
trials, for we know that they are good for us--they help
us to learn to endure.. And endurance develops strength
of character in us, and character strengthens our confident
expectation of salvation. And this expectation  will not
disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us,
because he has given us his Holy Spirit to fill our hearts
with his love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Teaching about Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sunshine, puffy white clouds, and lots of wind are what we have today. I have received a "lake wind advisory" and I can see the trees and bushes being moved about by the wind, so It looks like the weather man was right.

Well, it looks like I need to let everyone know when I decide to take a day off. I had decided Friday morning to get to the Publix earlier than afternoon, so in order to do that , I had to forego my usual devotional, prayer, writing blog time. It usually takes me about two hours in the morning to do that. I had notified two or three people, who I knew would wonder about me, but got inquiries from some others. I will try to do better. At my age, I am not inclined to get up any earlier than I have to, since I did that for many years!

Brian invited me to have dinner with him at Jack' London Grill Sat. night, so when we got there it was not crowded. A few minutes later, another family from FCC came in, and, unbeknownst to us, one more FCC person was seated across the room. It was a good meal and I had so much left, I had to take a box home for Sunday dinner.

Speaking of Sunday; as I was ready to leave for church, I got a severe neck ache, and back ache and a funny feeling in my head, so I stayed home and about an hour later was feeling fine. I don't like to think of Satanic attacks, but maybe that was. But I have to remember that "greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world."

God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Matthew 6:7-

When you pray, don't babble on and on as people
of other religions do. They think their prayers are
answered only by repeating their words again and
again. Don't be like them, because your Father knows
exactly what you need even before you ask him!
Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be honored.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done here on earth,
just as it is in heaven.
Give us our food for today,
and forgive us our sins,'
just as we have forgiven those who
have sinned against us.
and don't let us yield to temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father
will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father
will not forgive your sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
 joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another ditto day is here in the line of them this week. Very warm, high humidity, and no rain; but this is Florida in August, so that is what we expect. Just wait until October!

I did not go out yesterday, but had people in. The cleaning ladies came at noon, and the Bright House technie came right after they left. I am now hooked up so I can get the SEC network, and the NFL network. I have up to 200 channels, which I doubt I will ever use, since I don't watch TV that much . Sounds weird, I know, but this deal removes Verizon from my land line phone, so that is a saving, and also, lowers my Bright House bill. So, I will see.

During the ladies' cleaning, they picked up two lizard carcasses, and part of a shed snake skin! Unbelievable! Looks like the outside critters have been coming inside!
But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 34:1-3, 8-10

I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord,
let all who are discouraged take heart.
Come, tell of the Lord's greatness,
let us exalt his name together.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who trust in him!
Let the Lord's people show him reverence,
for those who honor him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will never
lack for any good thing!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The weather today promises to be a carbon copy of yesterday. It is already very warm, but the white, puffy, clouds still look so pretty against the very blue of the sky!

I had an appointment with my podiatrist yesterday, and had to wait an hour before I got in to see him. This is very unusual, because I get in and out in half an hour, most times. He only has seven chairs in his tiny waiting room. But, anyway, after the van sat in the hot sun for an hour, it was probably over a hundred degrees inside. However, the A/C cooled it down, and I drove to Steak and Shake and ordered a cooling strawberry milkshake and a salad, which I took home.

I drove on to the park, first, and saw another beautiful white egret in the canal, lots of shade from the oak trees, and what felt like a nice breeze...not too warm.

Well, today I get hooked up for the SEC network; a free phone, and free long distance calls, which is no big deal, since my calls on my iphone are free, anyway. But, I will also save money, because I will be disconnected from Verizon. I am all for that! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 15

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?

Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to slander others
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
Those who despise persistent sinners
and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.
Those who do not charge interest on the money they lend,
and who refuse to accept bribes to testify against the innocent.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Paul's Charge to Timothy

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The prediction for the rest of the week is extremely high heat and humidity and very little rain, so I am thankful for the A/C in the house and car! I appreciated the car's cooling as I had to run some errands yesterday.

I had to gas up the van and was pleasantly surprised to find gas at $3.09 at Walmart, and with my card, I paid $3.04! That's the lowest it has been in a long time! Then, I drove to the Library, which was not very busy, since school was in session, returned and checked out more books. After that I drove on to the park and saw a beautiful long necked egret, stretching to reach something on a branch by the canal. Not many people were in the park, again because of school starting, I think. But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

2 Timothy 3:14-17

But you must remain faithful to the things
you have been taught. You know they are true,
for you know you can trust those who taught
you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures
from childhood, and they have given you the
wisdom to receive the salvation that comes
by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired
by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to
make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It
straightens us out and teaches us to do what is
right. It is God's way of preparing us in every way,
fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Lots of white, puffy clouds and sunshine are what is greeting us today, with no rain, but maybe a shower here and there later on.

The good news is that gas prices are still going down; even  under $3 in Cleveland, TN.
I have to do a fill-up today, so I am hoping to find lower gas prices when I go.

We had a dynamic sermon yesterday from Dr. Keith Hamilton, the pres. and founder of Alaska Christian College. I have heard him speak before, as a guest at my church, and always look forward to hearing him. He has a heart for God and it shows in his work and family.

I was escorted in to my seat by my friend, Dan, which always warms my heart. Then I got to chat with a couple more friends before church started. Good friends. God's love, and good preaching and good singing. It was a blessed day!

I still have the anole living in my bathroom. He greeted me Saturday in the shower again, and I was able to chase him out. Then when I walked in Sunday, there he was again, on the floor. I really don't know what he is eating, because there is nothing in there in the way of food. If I were bolder, I would catch him and escort him out!

Later in the afternoon, yesterday, I drove over to the Park, tired of watching the Rays lose, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The only animals I saw beside the squirrels, were the human kind.  But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 146

Praise the Lord, I tell myself.
I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God even with my dying
breath.

Don't put your confidence in powerful people,
there is no help for you there.
When their breathing stops, they return to the earth,
and in a moment all their plans come to an end.
But happy are those who have the God of Israel
as their helper, who hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the one who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He is the one who keeps every promise forever.
Who gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts the burdens of those
bent beneath their loads.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.

The Lord will reign forever,
O Jerusalem, Your God is King in every generation!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Paul's Prayer

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It was so dark and the thunder was booming and the lightning flashing through the blinds when it was my regular time to get up, that I just curled up and stayed in bed. It has been rainy all morning, and the water is dripping off the roof, with thunder still booming in the distance. No sunshine yet, but blue sky is visible every so often. Definitely and lazy day!

It took me until early afternoon, to get through with my laundry, sheets, etc., yesterday,
so I just stayed home , read and caught up with stuff on the computer. It was fun looking up Google street views of addresses here and at relatives homes in other states. That Google mobile really gets around! But God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Ephesians 3:14-

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan,
I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of
everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his
glorious, unlimited resources, he will give you mighty
inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that
Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts
as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep in the
soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the
power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide
how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May
you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great
you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled
with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within
us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever
dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church and in
Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! It was overcast earlier this morning and everything was wet, so I think there must have been a sprinkle. But then the sun came out brilliantly and the humidity is already climbing. I look out my window and see colorful butterflies flitting by, and bluejays and mockingbirds still flying in and out of the hedge which has fewer berries on it since the birds discovered it!

My cleaning team came yesterday and I always ask where they had lunch. Yesterday, it was their favorite, Italia Mia, again. They always have hearty lunches, but I think they work so hard, the calories get burned up! We chatted about the Rays and what is going on in the neighborhood, so it's a good time catching up!

I finished the Nicholas Sparks' big novel, which is being made into a movie. "The Longest Ride". I was in tears through parts of it. Very moving love story. He is a wonderful story teller. Later, I drove to Subway and ordered their Philly cheesesteak sandwich with all the veggies except hot peppers! I had had it before and it was so good!  I also noticed two new restaurants going up across the street on Park Blvd. Mo's and IHOP. Then, across the street from them...a Thai restaurant, which is new. Looks like Pinellas Park is booming! Also, Brian says a new one is going up across from Cheddars. Lots to choose from!

I drove through the Park on the way to Subway, and saw three spoonbills in the canal just beyond the weir. It was late in the afternoon, so not a lot of people were there, but some were walking and others hanging over the rail at the bridge looking down into the water. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 147
Sing out your thanks to the Lord;
sing praises to our God, accompanied by harps.
He covers the heavens with clouds,
providing rain for the earth,
and makes the green grass grow in mountain pastures.
He feeds the wild animals
and the young ravens cry to him for food.

The strength of a horse does not impress him,
how puny in his sight is the strength of a man.
Rather, the Lord's delight is in those who honor him,
those who put their hope in his unfailing love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Giving

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I heard thunder a short while ago, and saw on the radar that Tampa was having heavy rains. Also, the Gandy bridge eastbound traffic was stopped because of a school bus - Suv wreck blocking traffic. The bus was empty, because public school has not started yet. I am fortunate I don't have to make a commute each morning.

One of the good things about retirement!

We have had a gentle rain, and drips are still falling off the roof, but looks like white, puffy clouds and blue sky in between for the most part. I was noticing the puffy clouds in the sky  yesterday, while I was driving. I don't know about other parts of the country, but I think Florida has such pretty skies. I can see all kinds of faces and shapes in the clouds and I used to lie on the ground as a kid, just to sky watch in the summer. (Which is probably why I am periodically checked for skin cancer now).

While I was visiting the park yesterday, I saw a man with a big camera taking pictures of a roseate spoonbill posing nicely in the canal. As I was driving in, an egret was standing by the canal near the weir with half of a critter hanging out of its beak. A tasty treat! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

2 Corinthians 9:6-9

Remember this---a farmer who plants only a few seeds
still will get a small crop. But the one who plants
generously will get a generous crop. You must each
make up your own mind as to how much you should
give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure.
For God will generously provide all you need. Then you
will always have everything you need and plenty left over
to share with others. As the scriptures say, "Godly people
give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will never be forgotten."

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partitrs! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have lots of sunshine this morning, so the yard crew has come and gone. I guess they are catching up with what they were unable to do because of the rain yesterday.. It doesn't take them long to do my yard, because I don't have much grass, but it always looks nice when they finish.

I spent some time reading about Robin Williams' death and the comments on Facebook, and also, the tributes on TV. Such a tragedy for a wonderful actor. He will surely be missed.

I had an appointment with Dr. Pierce yesterday and had very little waiting time. I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I noticed a lot of backpacks lined up in the waiting room that they are collecting for students who can't afford them. The backpacks are fully stocked. This is something my church did, also. I believe 55 were collected and filled at FCC. This is such a need every school year, and I am happy our volunteers do this.

I drove to the Park after I left Pierce Clinic and saw a beautiful heron in the canal, plus a roseate spoonbill perched on a black branch sticking up in the mud. What a contrast! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Romans 5:1-5
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's
sight by faith, we have peace with God because of
what Jesus Christ our Lord, has done for us. Because
of our faith Christ has brought us into this place of
highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently
and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials,
for we know that they are good for us---they help us learn
to endure. And endurance develops strength of character
for us, and character strengthens our confident expectation
of salvation. And this salvation will not disappoint us. For we
know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the
Holy  Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have already had a rain shower and the drips are still coming off the roof. I don't know if my yard guys are coming or not, because I'm sure they were delayed because of the rain. It is still overcast, and according to the weather map, more rain is expected. Oh, well, at least it is cooler!

Well, I attended two memorial services in the last few days, and missed a 50th anniversary celebration, so it was a busy weekend. Sadness and gladness...the ebb and flow of life!

Brian attended the 50th celebration in another city, and was happy to have seen old friends including the Logues, Plotts, Carters, and others. Good times with old friends!

I drove over to the park coming back from the church,  on Saturday, and saw the graceful flight of a flock of ibis, and the busy squirrels. God is so good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Sing a new song to the Lord!
Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Sing to the Lord; bless his name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Publish his glorious deeds among the
nations.Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
He is to be revered above all the gods.
The gods of other nations are merely idols,
but the Lord made the heavens!
Honor and majesty surround him.
Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary....

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Love and hugs,

Soaring thru Psalm 37

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sunshine and heat and humidity with maybe a shower later on, just like yesterday. In fact, we did get some rain. Quite a hard rain came down for about twenty minutes right around 3 PM. It cooled things down for awhile, but then the weather heated up again, since the sun goes down so late this time of year.

I was asked about Forest City, NC by my nephew, since we, as a family, spent so much time there in the boys growing up years. Those were wonderful vacations, visiting all Louis' relatives in the summer and one winter. The coincidence is; I had just been talking about FC with a friend at a memorial service gathering just a few days previously. This is a small town in NC, close to Chimney Rock and one day driving distance to all the mountain towns nearby. I can almost see the green trees and colorful leaves in the fall as I think about those times past! Ah, memories!

Yesterday I mostly stayed home, since I have a project I am working on, which is writing my autobiography for the church celebration in Oct. How to fit a long lifetime of events onto paper is work, since different memories keep popping up after I think I have finished with one decade, era, or whatever!  You older friends, out there, should try this for your offspring to read and keep as a record. But,if I keep plugging away, I guess I will finish eventually, because God is good. ...BTW, there was no lizard in the shower this morning. He scooted across the bedroom floor yesterday afternoon, so he is lurking around someplace!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 37:1-
Don't worry about the wicked.
Don't envy those who do wrong.
For like grass, they soon fade away.
Like springtime flowers, they soon wither.

Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take delight in the Lord and he will give
you your heart's desires.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him and he will help you.

Greetings from Paul

Good Morning, dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Another day of lots of sun and high humidity,,,the heat index is supposed to reach 100 today, just like yesterday! Good old summertime!

When I left home on an errand yesterday, I noticed black, ominous looking clouds in the southeast, and wondered if I would get rained on before coming home, but nothing happened. Humphf! They just sort of blew away, quietly.. On my way, I had to figure out how to get from behind a Hybrid car which was stalled in the left turn lane, I was in. I barely had wiggle room to back up a little and swing around her on the right, but noticed the cars behind me, chose to wait and go in the wrong lane to make their left turn. I am wondering if her battery needed to be charged or what the problem was, because her lights were burning okay. Anyway, hope she got some help to get out of the way.

I had unwanted company in the shower this morning. An anole has been living in my bedroom for several weeks now, ( really don't know what keeps him alive) and when I turned on the shower faucet, there he was. wiggling because he was trapped. I kept turning because I wanted hot water, instead of cold, but did not want the lizard on me!! He worked his way loose and took off on the wall, while I invented a new shower dance, swatting at him with my wet washcloth! Life is interesting, but God is always good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Colossians 1:9-14

So we have continued praying for you ever since
we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a
complete understanding of what he wants to do in
your lives, and we ask him  to make you wise with
spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will always
honor and please the Lord, and you will continually
do good, kind things for others. All the while, you
will learn to know God better and better.

We also pray that you will be strengthened with his
glorious power so that you will have all the patience
and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy,
always thanking the Father who has enabled you to
share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people,
who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the
one who rules in the kingdom of darkness, and he
has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.
God has purchased our freedom with his blood and
 has forgiven all our  sins.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love

Jesus, the True Vine

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had no rain yesterday and today is bright and sunny, but I saw the most beautiful formation of clouds as I was driving home.  I remember lying on my back on the ground when I was a kid, and looking for faces in the clouds. This was long before TV and other electronic things to keep us indoors. We spent nearly all summer outdoors, building tree houses, making our own scooters, and skateboards, out of skate wheels and rubber bands! Such ingenuity!

After getting the laundry done, I took off shopping yesterday, stopping to visit a friend and chat for a few minutes. It looked like rain at that time, but it turned out not to be that promising. So I drove on to the park and watched two brown tortoises meandering over the grass, stopping to munch on the way. I had to stop for a silly squirrel, who was playing with another one right in the middle of the street. At least I think they were playing! This morning I saw mama duck and the seven babies, moving slowly across the grass at Cheryl's house. God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

John 15:5-10

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.
Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce
much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a
useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered
into a pile to be burned. But if you stay joined to me
and my words remain in you, you may ask any request
you like and it will be granted!  My true disciples produce
much fruit. This brings great glory to my Father.

I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain
in my love. When you obey me, you remain in my love,
just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with
thanksgiving, joy and love!

Changes

Good Morning. Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have sunshine and pretty clouds and a good day before us!

We are getting new neighbors moving in across the street. The former resident moved out Sunday after having a For Rent sign in front of her house for a month or so. This has been a pretty stable neighborhood, at least on this end of the street, with some residents living here for about forty years or so. However, this particular house was remodeled after being sold due to a death, and, since then, it has changed hands several times.  The changing flow of neighbors goes on...

Yesterday afternoon I attended memorial services for a friend, which reminded me of memories I would leave behind...some good and some bad, but I have always tried to be kind. Sometimes I speak my mind when I should be quiet and think before speaking. So, if I have hurt any feelings, I apologize now, and ask forgiveness.

There was another memorial service going on just two hours earlier; This for another old friend in a different location. And Saturday, still another! Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming , and I am reminded of my own mortality! But not for long, as I think of all that has to be done today!

As some friends picked me up for the service, I saw the brown bunny in the neighbor's yard and then, coming home, another one in a yard a couple blocks away! There must be a large flock of bunnies in the yards around here. I know one household has chickens in the side yard. Just a little bit of country in the city!

I got to the library and brought home more books, including the latest by Nicholas Sparks, one of my favorite authors. Then I went on to the park and saw some friendly ibis and lots of people enjoying a warm summer day! God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Where can I find security and hope in the midst of tumult and change?

Lamentations 5:19
Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues
from generation to generation.

Malachi 3:6
I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants
of Jacob are not already completely destroyed.

James 1:17
Whatever is good and perfect comes to you from God above, who
created all heaven's lights. Unlike them, he never changes or casts
shifting shadows.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Both our security and our hope are rooted in God's unchanging
character. People will make promises one day but disappoint
in the next. Sin or circumstances beyond their control prevent
them from keeping their promises. God's faithfulness. and love
however, are not subject to the fluctuations of time, space, or human
mortality. We will never suffer because of God's fickle whims,
irrational mood swings or inability to handle  the circumstances.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Comfort for God's People

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have lots of sunshine this morning, just like yesterday, but a rainstorm came up yesterday in the middle of the afternoon, then blew off and once more it was a nice sunset.

My Saturday did not start off too well. When I went into my bathroom, I discovered a flood. The toilet tank water flow valve was defective and the tank was overflowing. I mopped up with lots of towels and called Brian, who came, and shut off the water, then we mopped some more, but it was still leaking. I called the plumber, but he couldn't come out until afternoon, so I bailed some more. I was able to shower, finally, but could not go anywhere, until the plumber came.

While I did not like the flooding, I have to recognize that God's timing is perfect! What if this had happened in the middle of the night? The water could have seeped out into the bedroom, which would have been a huge mess! There is most always a silver lining..

Then came Sunday...I was greeted at the door by a friend and then,by many friends as I walked into the worship center. I had missed the Sunday before, because I was not feeling too well. But I heard a good sermon, enjoyed the singing, and, most of all, the fellowship!

Afterward, I bought my dinner from Boston Market, and sat down to watch the Rays and read the Times, and promptly went to sleep, sitting straight up. Brian came over later and took the dumpster down and visited awhile. We caught up with the progress of his new job, which has challenges that he is happy to meet, and also we chatted about family matters. I am happy  and blessed that he is so close.

Afterwards, I took a ride into the Park , after dropping off some library books into the book drop. I did not see many people, but some families were still out that late.  One anhinga was on the weir, and several ibis were pecking around. It was a good day and God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Isaiah 41:27-31

O Israel, how can you say the Lord does not see
your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear
your case? Have you never heard or understood?
Don't you know that the Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth?

He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the
depths of his understanding. He gives power to those
who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the
weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young
men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will
find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,
with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms

Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More sunshine and fewer showers today means I have to water a couple plants on the front porch, since they get dry in a hurry! The humidity is back, so the heat really gets to me if I am outside for any length of time!

I busied myself in the house yesterday, changing the bed and putting the fresh sheets on. While I was doing that, I heard voices, and could not figure out where they were coming from, so I walked out toward the kitchen and realized that is was the call box of the ADT home security system that I have. I was wearing the bracelet and must have bumped the button, so the operator was frantically trying to reach me to see if I was all right! The system works! If I hadn't responded the paramedics would have come, which happened about a year ago when I accidentally pushed the button. I really felt sorry that time, thinking of the waste of time and the cost  for them to come for nothing. Big sigh.

After I did another load of laundry, I decided to take a break and go to the park, where the squirrels were having a good time. The flocks of ibis were also intent on doing their pecking thing and moving slowly around the circle. It was a good day and God is good!

From the Promise Bible NLT:

Psalm 119 :1-8

Happy are people of integrity,
who follow the law of the Lord.
Happy are those who obey his decrees
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do no compromise with evil
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us to keep your
commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently
reflect your principles!

Then I will not be disgraced
when I compare my life with your commands.
When I learn your righteous laws,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your principles,
Please don't give up on me!

I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Love and hugs,
 Amaryllis
