Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Rain, rain, and more rain! I did not sleep well last night and was up at 3:30 because I heard rain, and it has been raining off and on since then. My handy man was scheduled to come for outdoor work, but I cancelled last night and that was a smart move.
I wish the sky would be clear tonight, though, because this will be the "blue moon" which only happens when there are two full moons in the same month. This is why we have the saying "once in a blue moon." It won't happen again until 2018. Doesn't look too promising. though.
The code inspector came next door yesterday, just as I was getting ready to leave for the library, so I circled around and came back to talk to him. He is not allowed to go into back yards, so I told him he could go in mine and assess the problem. He said my name would have to go on the complaint, and that is okay with me. I tried to call Jeremy, my neighbor, but don't know if the phone is a working one or not. He and his girlfriend may be on vacation.
As I came around Lynch Lake, a large flock of ibis took off right in front of the car, and landed gracefully on the other side of the street. Then I went on to the Park and saw a black, shiny wet turtle at the weir, and a very dry, brown tortoise. further along. God is good!
From the Devotional book Quiet Moments with God:
"Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those
things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ Jesus.'
Philippians 3:13-14 KJV
The spider monkey is a tiny animal native to South and Central
America. Quick as lightning, it is a very difficult animal to capture
in the wild. For years, people attempted to shoot spider monkeys
with tranquilizer guns or capture them with nets, but they discovered
the monkeys were nearly always faster than their fastest draw or
quickest trap.
Then somebody discovered the best method for capturing this elusive
creature. They found that if you take a clear narrow-mouth glass bottle,
put one peanut inside it, and wait, you can catch a spider monkey.
What happens? the spider monkey reaches into the bottle to get the peanut,
and it can't get its hand out of the bottle as long as it is clenching the
peanut. The bottle is so heavy in proposition to its size, it can't drag it along--and the spider is too persistent to let go of a peanut once it has grasped it. In
fact , you can dump a wheelbarrow full of peanuts or bananas right next to it, and it still won't let go of that one peanut.
How many of us are like that--unwilling to change a habit, be a little flexible,
try a new method, or give up something we know is bringing destruction
to our lives?
We stubbornly cling to our way, even if it brings pain and suffering.
Today, don't cling to a negative situation that may be draining you of your
full vitality, energy, creativity, and enthusiasm for living, as the well-known
phrase advises, "Let go, and let God!"
Trust the Lord to lead you to the wise counsel and new opportunities He has
for you. Have faith in Him to provide what you truly need to live a peaceful,
balanced, and fulfilling life. You may never lose your taste for peanuts, but
with the Lord's help, you can discern when they are trapped in a glass bottle!
I asked God for all things so I
could enjoy life. He gave me life
so I could enjoy all things.

I give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love,

Love for Enemies
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have sunshine and warm breezes so far, but like yesterday, when the storms came in at noon, the same thing may happen today.
When the cleaning friends came in the early afternoon, it had just finished coming down hard, and they had already been soaked. But,. it was a good day for staying home, which I did. I was hoping to watch a pitching duel between the Rays Archer and the Tigers Verlander, but it was not on Sun Sports, so I listened through the static on the radio, and found out later from a friend that the game was on the cable channel. Too late! I was disappointed.
My Bird-of-Paradise plant really likes the rain. It has at least three brilliant blooms on it, now. I don't think the birds like it, because they don't seem to go near it.But they have plenty of seeds to eat from the podacarpus hedge.
Well, I called the codes Dept. of the city about the wasp nest next door and the codes inspector should be out in 3-5 days. Hopefully, they will be eradicated, so it will be safe to go back to the fence soon. I have never done that before, (called the code dept.) so I will see how it works.
Cheryl found a baby gecko while she was cleaning yesterday, but it was too fast for her to catch, so I have another one in the house some place. Sigh. But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Luke 7:27-31
But if you are willing to listen, I say, love
your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.
Pray for the happiness of those who curse you.
Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you
on one cheek, turn the other cheek. If someone
demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give
what you have to anyone who asks you for it ,
and when things are taken away from you, don't
try to get them back. Do for others as you would
like them to do for you.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

The Beatitudes
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! And we are rejoicing this morning, because the sun is shining. Even though the gutters are still full of water rushing down the street from the rain late last night, we are dry so far today and that is good!
Yesterday, in the blog that went no where, I wrote about the tiny, black frogs that have hatched out all over. They are in my side yard, just hopping all around, and once again, I saw large fairy rings, which is what we called the toadstools that pop up all over from the damp ground, when I was growing up,. We have had over 12 inches of rain so far this month!
I drove out to Walmart to gas up the van yesterday, and was pleased to see the price has gone down once again. With my card, I paid 2.30 per gal. Every little bit helps!
On the way out there, I stopped off at the park and saw that everything was quiet and looking good with the freshly mown grass. I saw one ibis flying overhead, but otherwise, nothing. But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Matthew 5:1-12
One day as the crowds were gathering, Jesus
went up the mountainside with his disciples and
sat down to teach them.
The Beatitudes
This is what he taught them:
God blesses those who realize their need
for him,"
for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.
God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are gentle and lowly,
'for the whole earth will belong to them.
God blesses those who are hungry and thirsty
for justice, for they will receive it in full.
God blesses those who are merciful
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted ,
because they live for God,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses you when your are mocked and persecuted
and lied about because you are my followers. Be happy about it!
Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember
the ancient prophets were persecuted, too.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Well, more rain and the earth is saturated. But yesterday was sunny and very warm, so I was able to attend church and not worry about getting wet.
I know a couple hundred people have been evacuated in Pasco Co. because of flooding. Lakes and rivers are overflowing, and retention ponds are full. But God is in control and He controls the rain and sun.
I have written about my back fence sagging and the help coming from the men who attend the Bible study early Thurs. mornings; well, yesterday while I was at church the man(?) who lives in back of me, apparently fixed the gate. It was in place when I got home. I have never seen whoever lives there and don't know them, but Ray said he would come over and check it out and see if the "fix" is permanent or not. A couple other men, including the pastor, told me they would be over to work on it. I am so blessed!
Speaking of church, I saw three ladies for the first time in about five or ten years, yesterday. They were active back in the first days of FCC. Seems like old time members are always coming back home to Faith. It is always good to see old familiar faces.
Well, I have not seen any birds or butterflies yet today, although I did see some yesterday at the Park, and around Lynch Lake, which is full.
The canal at the Park has plenty of water, also! But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 84:10-13
A single day in your courts is better
than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the
house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
For the Lord God is our light and protector.
He gives us grace and glory.
No good thing will the Lord withhold
from those who do what is right.
O Lord Almighty,
Happy are those who trust in you.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!
Love and hugs,

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I just called my sister to wish her a happy birthday, and she said it wasn't a very good day because it is so dark and gloomy. It is overcast and the prediction is for heavy rains all weekend. I know it rained last night, because I was still up reading when I heard the sound of the rain coming down. Nice and cozy...
Well, it looks like I will get some help with my fence from a group from church. A men's group has been looking for a service project so a couple of them, separately, came to look over the sagging gate and take pictures. Saturday they will come to determine what they need to get it done! I am blessed!
I made it to Publix yesterday afternoon when Ray brought my van back from the shop, and I got what I had on my list, but my, the heat was brutal! By the time I got the groceries unloaded at home and put away, I was frazzled!
But I did take time to visit the Park and enjoy the quiet and peace of the shade trees, a couple of ibis and an egret and a squirrel who gave me the evil eye for some reason as I passed by. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 65:1-8
What mighty praise, O God. belongs to you in Zion.
We will fulfill our vows to you, for you answer our prayers,
and to you all people will come. Though our hearts are filled with sin,
you forgive them all.
What joy for those you choose to bring near,
those who live in your holy courts. What joys await us
inside your holy Temple.
You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds,
O God, our savior.
You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who
sail on distant seas. You formed the mountains by your
power and armed yourself with mighty strength.
You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves
and silenced the shouting of the nations...
You take care of the earth and water it,
making it rich and fertile..
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!
Love and hugs
Amaryllis.

Shine Brightly
Good Morning Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have another day like the day before, and this day has no breeze and is just humid and very warm. As usual, storms are in the prediction, but that is called for every day. We had threats, but no rain, however, the gutters are still running with water, so we are still wet.
Surprise! my yard men came yesterday. That is the first time they have come on Wed., but I think they are still catching up after being rained out a couple days. And then, my cleaning gals came an hour late, we caught up on the neighborhood news, and I learned how to turn on my second shower head in the bathroom.
Later on, I decided to get a salad for supper, so I headed for Chick-fil-A and got in line right behind a Maserati sedan. I thought that was a pretty expensive car, which was confirmed later by Daryl. Then a pool maintenance guy drove in with his pick up and all his equipment in the back, walked around to let his little son out, and they went in to eat. So I am thinking, it doesn't matter what the income or status is, all people wind up at CFA. That says something about the food and service.
On my way there, I drove by Lynch Lake park and saw a huge flock of ibis, lots of ducks, and a couple of ospreys, plus an anhinga on the overhead lines. Then I drove to the park, and all was quiet. The grounds were freshly mowed and a lonely egret was fishing. while the ever present squirrels were dashing about as usual. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Philippians 2:13-15
Dearest friends, you were always so careful to follow
my instructions when I was with you, and now that
I am away you must be even more careful to put into
action God's saving work in your lives, obeying God
with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in
you giving you the desire to obey him and the power
to do what pleases him.
In everything you do, stay away from complaining
and arguing do that no one can speak a word of blame
against you. You are to live clean, innocent, lives as
children of God in a dark world full of crooked and
perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before
them. Hold tightly to the word of life, so that when
Christ returns, I will be proud that I did not lose the race
and that my work was not useless. But even if my life
is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete
the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is, if I am to die
for you,) I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all
of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice
with me.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Paul's Prayer
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Sunshine, clouds, heat, humidity; that is the same as several days previously this week, so far, but it looks like a lot of rain will be coming this weekend and that is not so good for outdoor activities. However, that is Florida in the summer. I saw a brief segment yesterday on TV about how scarce water is all over the world. Only 1/3rd of the earth consists of water, to supply the needs of millions of people., and it is not being replenished fast enough for the future. Scary!
So, the yard next door got mowed yesterday. Mine did not, but it does not look so bad, because I don't have a lot of grass, anyway. That is, it does not look bad where there is grass, but I do need sod in front. The shade from the oak trees keeps grass from thriving near the house.
I was ready to go shopping early in the afternoon, but by the time I got to the stores, I did not have the energy, so that will have to wait. I did drive to the park, and saw a graceful egret standing by the very full canal. He looked like a painting , as the greenery behind him was contrasted with his very white feathers. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Ephesians 3:14-
When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's
plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the
Creator of heaven and on earth. I pray that from his
glorious, unlimited resources, he will give you mighty
inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that
Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as
you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the
soil of God's marvelous love. and may you have the
power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide,
how long, how high and how deep his love really is. May
you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great
you will never fully understand it . Then you will be filled
with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now Glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within
us , he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would
ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages.
Amen.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

We reap what we Sow
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Our TV weatherman posted a picture on FB of a broken record as his weather report yesterday! Very funny, but appropriate. We did not get any rain yesterday, but it sure looked like it, with a very dark cloud hanging overhead and a few sprinkles while I was out and about. Same thing today...
My yard men did not come yesterday, so I thought they would today, but no sign of them so far. My yard still looks neat compared to the next door kid's. He has not mowed for a month and the grass is about two feet high. His parents own the house, but built another one and moved out over a couple years ago, and he wanted to stay. His dad also has a car in the garage that he has been working on for years, but the son is not inclined to do upkeep on the house and yard, so the neighbors have to suffer. Sigh.
Well, it looks like the Sav-A-Lot store is finished and ready to move all the goods in at Town Plaza. It won't be a very large space, but I am sure all the people who live in the apartments there will be happy to shop there so close.
After I finished with my errands, I visited the Park, and passed a large retention pond with a large flock of ibis enjoying the water and whatever food was there for them. The canal was full at the park and one lonely anhinga was drying out his wings in the distance, perched on a bush over the lake. I have seen mockers and bluejays diving into the hedge outside my window, so the berries must be really available for them. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Galatians 6:1-6
Dear brothers and sisters, if another Christian is
overcome by some sin, you who are godly should
gently and humbly help that person back onto the
right path. And be careful not to fall into the same
temptation yourself. Share each others troubles and
problems. and in this way obey the law of Christ. If
you think you are too important to help someone in
need, you are only fooling yourself. You are really a
nobody.
Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy
the personal satisfaction of having done your work well,
and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else.
For we each are responsible for our own conduct.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Still Roamin' thru Romans
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have sunshine this morning and breezes and it continues to be hot, but thundershowers will probably be showing up sometime today.
I was afraid I would miss church because of the rain yesterday. A downpour started while I was having breakfast. I was all dressed and ready to go, but I saw blue skies off in the east and thought perhaps it was not raining at church. Well, the rain stopped an hour before I was to leave and no rain after that! Praise God!
I had a short chat with one of the teenagers who had been to CHIC, and learned what the week had meant to him. The chat was informative. I had never talked with him before, so, hopefully the commitments he made will stick and grow. I will keep praying for him.
On my way to church, I saw several ducks and ibises and a gathering of seagulls around Lynch Lake, which was pretty full after the heavy rain.
The rain is helping my Bird of Paradise to grow and it now has two blooms on it, but, unfortunately it is in the back yard, so no one else can see it. For my eyes only. My handyman came last week and did a good job of trimming, but there is more that needs doing, so he is coming back the end of the month. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Romans 12:14-25
If people persecute you because you are a Christian,
don't curse them; pray that God will bless them.
When others are happy, be happy with them. If they
are sad, share their sorrow. Live in harmony with
each other. Don't try to act important, but enjoy the
company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Do things in such
a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do your
part to live in peace with everyone, as much as possible.
Dear Friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God.
For it is written,
"I will take vengeance
I will repay those who deserve it",
says the Lord.
Instead do what the scriptures say:
"If your enemies are hungry, feed them.
If they are thirsty, give them something
to drink,
and they will be ashamed of what they
have done to you."
Don't let evil get the best of you, but conquer
evil by doing good.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! Rain, rain, rain! The weatherman was right and from the looks of radar, it will be rainy most of the day. My Times was wet because I am having a clash of wills with my carrier. I have asked numerous times for the paper to be placed in the chair right beside my front door, but although it will land in front of the door, on one side of the chair and on the other side of the chair, he (or she) will not place it in the chair. So, today, it was tossed on the porch in the puddle and got soaked through two plastic covers! I have called and will probably get a replacement sometime today. I know I could get it online, but I prefer to have it in my hands. Sigh.
Well, I have not contacted a fence company yet about repairing or replacing the back fence, so I am open to suggestions. It is just a strip across the back yard and part of that is covered by a neighbor who has a fence up against mine. Stay tuned!
The tragic developments of yesterday, in Chattanooga, took place not far from the Ferguson's store which is the headquarters for Daryl's company.. He said everything was in lockdown, and highways were closed, so the delivery truck for that store, had to make a u-turn and head for Cleveland, Daryl's store, to unload, after waiting an hour and a half. I feel so sorry for all involved and especially the families of the Marines! I pray for peace and comfort for them.
But I am convinced that God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 119:57-64
Lord, you are mine!
I promise to obey your words!
With all my heart I want your blessings.
Be merciful just as you promised.
I pondered the direction of my life,
and I turned to follow your statutes.
I will hurry, without lingering.
to obey your commands.
Evil people try to drag me into sin,
but I am firmly anchored to your law.
At midnight I rise to thank you
for your just laws.
Anyone who fears you is my friend--
anyone who obeys your
commandments.
O Lord, the earth is full of your unfailing love.
Teach me your principles.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
From: Amaryllis Green Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! When I got up at about 6:30, the sun was shining brightly, and it looked like a beautiful day, but now I see rain dripping off the roof and when I looked at the local radar pictures on TV, rain was all around, so more wetness. I saw a white toadstool growing by the porch wall yesterday...or maybe, it was a mushroom.
I was expecting my cleaning team about 1:30, so I did laundry in the morning, and since they were late arriving, I took care of some bookkeeping, and then I had called my handy man who was due around three. He came just after the girls left and did a lot of trimming and getting rid of oak trees that had grown up in the hibiscus and the podacarpus hedge. He also discovered a large bee hive in the neighbor's shed, which did not like his noisy trimmer! Fortunately, he was not stung!
I had asked him to check on my fence gate which is sagging into the backyard neighbor's property, but he said it was too heavy for him to handle, and I needed to contact a fence company because the posts are rotted. Sigh. Another home owner problem.
Well, my good fairy from across the street, returned my dumpster from the curb this morning and I did not even hear her! She is so good hearted! I am blessed! God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 119:1-8
Happy are people of integrity,
who follow the law of the Lord.
Happy are those who obey his decrees.
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil.
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect
your principles!
Then I will not be disgraced
when I compare my life with your commands.
When I learn your righteous laws,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your principles,
Please don't give up on me!
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Prowling thru Proverbs
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! From the looks of the porch, we had an early morning rain, because puddles were still visible. The prediction yesterday was that it would rain sometime between 3 and 6 AM and that was correct!.
I mentioned the breeze yesterday, well, I was totally surprised when a heavy downpour started about eleven and kept up for over an hour! Then a loud clap of thunder made me jump a little. During the rain, I went through more old pics and found the boys report cards from kindergarten and even class pictures from elementary school.
I found photos from our family trip out west to see my aunt Lillian in Reno, photos of the Grand Canyon, Sierra Nevada and Hoover Dam, (called Boulder Dam, then) and the Great Salt Lake. It was like a mini-vacation for me.This vacation trip was made in a '36 Ford with no seat belts or safety features, but it was up to the travel! My brother stood up nearly the whole way, hanging on to the backs of the front seats...not recommended now!
After the rain, I ran some errands and wound up at the Park where the canal was full and trees were still dripping. I only saw one anhinga drying out the wings, and a couple Mockingbirds flying about. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Proverbs 3:21-25
My child, don't lose sight of good planning and insight.
Hang on to them, for they fill you with life and bring you
honor and respect. They keep you safe on your way and
keep your feet from stumbling. You can lie down without
fear and enjoy pleasant dreams. You need not be afraid
of disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked,
for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from
being caught in a trap.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Paul's Final Instructions
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! A very warm breeze is blowing and puffy white clouds are being pushed around by it, but the sun is coming through very hot. Even early in the morning, the air is very warm. I don't think I complained about being cold last winter, did I?
Yesterday, I had to go to CVS and pick up a prescription, and a few other things. More work has been done on the re-modeling, and they now have a new dairy case and stock yogurt, plus a free-standing round snack bar, which has cheeses, yogurt, soups from Panera and plastic spoons ready to use. The whole store looks more spacious and clean. They are still working on some parts. The manager was down on the floor working on a display, so he is hands on. Good to see!
I was going through some more pics and found one of my favorites. Louis and I were at the beach in our swim suits; me.in a two piece pale blue and he in plaid shorts. He was a hunk! Broad shoulders, flat stomach and muscular arms. We were about 19 in the pic, and that was probably the beginning of my skin cancer...no sun block available. Sigh.
I drove on to the Park, after leaving CVS and saw two limpkins. They are very rare and here I have seen three in the past week. One was perched on the rail by the lake, and the other was walking along the canal. the small gopher tortoise was ambling along near his tunnel and a few ibis were busy pecking along. A squirrel streaked right in front of the car, and I thought I hit him, but he made it! Silly daredevils! But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
2 Timothy 6:17-19
Tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud
and not to trust in their money, which will soon be
gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly
gives us all we need for our enjoyment Tell them to use
their money to do good. they should be rich in good
works and should give generously to those in need,
always being ready to share with others whatever God
has given them. By doing this they will be storing up
their treasure as a good foundation for the future so
that they may take hold of real life.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have had very hot days, but then the thunderstorms come and cool things down a bit. Yesterday, I left here for church, and it was sprinkling, but I thought I saw an end to the clouds right in the church's direction. So, I decided to drive on, but just a few blocks later, it started to pour and by the time I arrived at church, it was a downpour, so I circled around and drove back home. I could have sat in the car and waited for the rain to quit, but it is very difficult to handle a cane, a Bible and an umbrella. I really hated to miss worship, though!
Saturday I made a trip to the hair stylist and went out to Walmart where I was pleased to see that Gas prices have dropped. I filled up the tank and then visited the park on my way home. Last evening as I was waiting in line at the drive thru at Arby's, which took a long, long time, I watched as a lone ibis came strolling between the cars to the crotons and shrubbery planted around the menu sign. Totally ignoring the cars, he looked at all the plants and then plucked some critter off one of the leaves and wandered off to a large oak tree, where he pecked something off the ground. Then, on the way home, I saw a large osprey sitting on the line above Lynch Lake. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Romans 12:6-12
God has given each of us the ability to do certain
things well. So if God has given you the ability to
prophesy , speak out when you have faith that God
is speaking through you. If your gift is that of serving
others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good
job of teaching. If your gift is to encourage others, do it!
If you have money, share it generously. If God has given
you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously.
And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others,
do it gladly.
Don't just pretend that you love others. really love them.
Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of good. Love each
other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring
each other. Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord
enthusiastically.
Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble,
and always be prayerful. When God's children are in need,
be the one to help them out. And get into the habit of inviting
guests home for dinner or, of they need lodging for the night.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Promised Rest from Hebrews
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We are starting out with the same kind of day as all the previous ones, but last evening we had a small thunder shower which lasted about thirty minutes or maybe more. As I was closing the window in the garage door, I stopped to enjoy the fragrance of the falling rain on the grass and the moistness of the breeze blowing in. Refreshing!
I had to make a trip to the neighborhood CVS and was pleased to see that their remodeling is almost complete. The store looks more spacious and cleaner. Of course, now I have to wander up and down the aisles looking for what has been moved from where the items used to be.
Speaking of remodeling, we have a new Sav-a-Lot going in at the Town Plaza. This is right next to the Pet Food store and seems to be coming right along. I think the Dollar Genersl will be getting a little competition in the grocery dept..
I headed over to the Steak and Shake after I finished at CVS and got my usual half priced strawberry shake to enjoy on a blistering hot day. This was after I had visited the Park and saw very few cars. The boardwalk gets very hot when in full sunshine, I know from past experience, so not many people were walking I miss those days when I would walk the whole boardwalk from one end to the other, but as we get older, we have our limitations! But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Hebrews 4:12,13
For the word of God is full of living power.
It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting
deep into our innermost thoughts and desires.
It exposes us for what we really are. Nothing in
all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked
and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to
whom we must explain all that we have done.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We have another day like yesterday, hot, sunshine and probably no rain. But that is July in St. Petersburg, At least we have air conditioning in the cars, houses and shops!
My cleaning friends came yesterday, and I told them there were geckos in the house someplace. Well, Kim found a dead one in the wastebasket in the guest room and then found the baby, about one inch long in the bathroom. She said I was a serial lizard killer! Ha.They come in and can't find anything to eat, so, eventually, they dry up and die. They are too quick for me to catch, or I would put them outside.
Cheryl is so thoughtful, she came over before going to work, and brought my dumpster back up. This time I caught her in time to say thanks. She is a blessing!
I went through some more old photos, which seems to be an ongoing project, still looking for family pics for the Stahly family Messenger list, and I am seeing pics of our vacations...one of me standing at the top of Mt. Mitchell in NC. Seems like every year we climbed to the top, and I always said, this was the last time, and finally, it was. The climb is really hard for an out of shape person like me. although I was in better shape back then. I had to stop and rest several times and let my heart get down to a more or less regular beat. Most of it was the altitude at over 6000 plus feet. Doesn't seem like much compared to the Rockies, but I don't do high altitude very well. I found that out again when I was in CO as a delegate to the church Annual meeting. I am a flatlander!
The hedge outside my window is still attracting mockers and bluejays, so they must be carrying seeds back to their nests, because they fly in and out all day. And I don't know how long a butterfly's life is, but they flutter by for awhile and then disappear. So much beauty for such a short time! But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 147
Praise the Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to our God!
How delightful and how right!
The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem
and bringing the exiles back to Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up
their wounds.
He counts the stars
and calls them all by name.
How great is our Lord! His power is absolute!
His understanding is beyond comprehension!

The Lord supports the humble.
but he brings the wicked down into the dust.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Wisdom from Proverbs
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! A light breeze and lots of sun greets us today, but strong thunderstorms are the prediction for this afternoon. It is interesting to see the dark clouds form and look threatening, then, slowly, they move away and no rain falls. But, we did have a short rain yesterday evening, and that was nice.
Our first recycling day was yesterday. Brian stopped by on his way home from work and took the large bin down to the curb, and when I got home from my appointment in the afternoon, I was prepared to drag it back up beside the garage, but found it already put away, thanks to the good fairy, "Cheryl" across the street! I am blessed to have her for a neighbor. She always looks out for me.
I had an appointment with my podiatrist and we talked about how much St. Pete has changed since I was born. I asked him what brought him here and he said the climate. He is from NY and still has the New Yawk accent.. He said the cost of living is so high in NY that there is no comparison with the prices here.I know to me this will always be home!
I took a side trip to the Park after I left him, and saw that everything was quiet. But I actually saw more wildlife around Lynch Lake than at the park. A seagull, several ibis, and an egret, plus the usual ducks were all enjoying themselves. The baby osprey is still in the nest over at the school, high on a light pole. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Proverbs 2:1-4
My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions.
Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.
Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them
as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then
you will understand what it means to fear the Lord
and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants
wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield protecting those who walk with integrity. He grants a treasure of good sense
to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk
with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects
those who are faithful to him.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! More thunderstorms are predicted for today, but right now, the sun is shining and it is already quite warm...(hot).
Yesterday, I was determined to go to Publix in the morning, and so got my shopping done before the storms came. When I got out to the car, I noticed a dark cloud in the west, so got home and put everything away, before the rains came. Sure enough, it got really dark, and noisy with all the thunder, so I decided it was a good time to take a nap. Afterwards, the rains stopped and the sun came back, so I went on to the Library to return and then collect more books. I am happy to see lots of children enjoying books this summer. I always took my boys to the Mobile Library back when they were little, and they always picked out lots of books. They still enjoy reading. I used to volunteer in Lynch Library when my sons were in school. Mrs. Gerren, the librarian, had a program called the "Busy bookworms", which included all the students. A good way to start them reading!
After the library, I drove on to the Park, and spotted an anhinga airing his wings, off in the distance on a strong bush over the lake. They look so sleek when they are swimming under the water! I also spotted a large flock of ibis hanging out at the library creek near Fossil Park. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Psalm 139:1-8
O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my every thought when far away.
You chart the path ahead of me
and tell me where to stop and rest.
Every moment you know where I am.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to know!
23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart.
test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We had a lot of thunder in the distance and thought we might get some rain yesterday, but as far as I know no rain. However, we did get some Sat. evening, so the noisy neighborhood firecrackers got delayed. They did fade away about 11 PM, so I was able to go to bed without losing any sleep to speak of.
I hope everyone had a good celebration of Independence Day. Brian invited me out to dinner Friday night and we had an excellent meal at Gigi's. I don't remember eating there before, but I would go again, just to try their pizzas! I had the Osso Bucco which was a huge meal, and after fried green beans and a cup of she crab soup, I had to bring most of the meal home. Brian had the salmon which he said was the best he had ever eaten! It rained while we were enjoying our meal and, of course, I had just had the van washed. Oh, well, that's the way it goes...
Saturday was pretty quiet for me. I looked through some more old photos, and found some for the Stahly family tree that my English cousin is building. It was memory time, and I still have several boxes to go!
Church attendance seemed to be down yesterday, but I know of several families who are on vacation right now, and the other two churches I passed on my way, seemed to have the same problem. Not nearly so many cars in the lots. Actually, I passed three churches, but didn't notice the one across from the bowling alley.
I drove to the park all three days and saw a limpkin, and two gopher turtles munching on the grass near their tunnels. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Romans 15:7
...So accept each other just as Christ has accepted
you; then God will be glorified. Remember that Christ
came as a servant to the Jews to show that God is true
to the promises he made to his ancestors. And he came
so the Gentiles might also give glory to God for his mercies
to them...
15 So I pray that God, who gives you hope, will keep you
happy and full of peace as you believe in him. May you
overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Independence Day
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! We may have a shower or two this weekend, but I don't think that will stop the firecrackers and displays from going on. I was surprised by a shower yesterday. I did not even know it had rained when I went down to pull the dumpster back up.
But everything was wet, and water was running in the gutter. The sky stayed overcast and gloomy for quite a while and after lunch I felt really sleepy, so I took a nap, which felt good.
After that, I drove over to the Salvation Army to drop off my stuff, but there was no one to unload my van, so I decided to come back another day. Traffic was pretty heavy, because the Rays had an afternoon game and it was over, so the few that attended were hurrying home.
I had headed on down to Chick-fil-A after leaving the S.A. and already the drive thru line was moving rapidly, but extending almost out to the street. The 4th St. CFA is almost always busy! But I got my frosty lemonade and it was delicious, as was the grilled chicken sandwich!
The podacarpus hedge right outside my window is busy with birds flying in and out all day, because it is full of seeds, which they must like! Lots of mockingbirds and bluejays! God is good!
OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM
OH, SAY, CAN YOU SEE, BY THE DAWN'S EAR;Y LIGHT,
WHAT SO PROUDLY WE HAIL'D AT THE TWILIGHT'S LAST
GLEAMING/
WHOSE BRIGHT STRIPES AND BRIGHT STARS, THRO' THE
PERILOUS FIGHT.
O'ER THE RAMPARTS WE WATCH'D WERE SO GALLANTLY
STREAMING/
AND THE ROCKET'S RED GLARE , THE BOMBS BURSTING IN AIR,
GAVE PROOF THROUGH THE NIGHT THAT OUR FLAG WAS STILL
THERE.
OH, SAY, DOES THAT STAR-SPANGLED BANNER YET WAVE
O'ER THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE?
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!
Love and hugs,
Amaryllis

Psoaring thru Psalms
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! This is another ditto day..seems like the days fall into a pattern for a short while. Sun for a time in the morning, then later and later in the day, and finally, no rain at all. That is the situation we have now. We have not had a shower for about three days in this area, which is ok.
My ladies came to clean yesterday, and I had noticed that Kim's husband had put a small stack of logs out for grabs at the end of their driveway. I told her that if he would not mind carrying them over, I would take two or three for my fireplace. Seems foolish to think of having a fire when the outside temp. is in the nineties, but cold weather will come eventually, and maybe when the company comes for Christmas, it will be cold enough for a fire.
I have the van loaded for a trip to the Salvation Army, and still have a couple closets to go, but I am happy I am working it down. I wistfully look at smaller size clothes I was fond of wearing ten years ago, and pull them out and toss them. Yes, some things I cleared out were that old or older. It is amazing how things accumulate!
Later in the afternoon, I drove over to the Park, and enjoyed the shade and peacefulness and the contrast between the greenery and the brilliant sunshine. I saw a baby squirrel crouching by the road, and others scampering about, but no birds. But God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
I can never escape from your spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, your are there;
if I go down to the place of the dead you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me
and your strength will support me.
I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night---
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are both alike to you....
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving, joy and love!

Roamin' thru Romans
Good Morning, Dear Friends and Prayer Partners! This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! The sun is shining, a warm breeze is blowing, butterflies are fluttering by my window and God is in control!
I had an appointment with my Audibel specialist yesterday, for a periodic checking of my hearing aids, and much to my surprise, he gave me a hearing test, also. After I finished with that, he was trying his best to sell me on buying a new set at the cost of $6400 a pair! He had just told me my current hearing aids were like new and that I took very good care of them. Well, I talked it over with Brian, after asking God for wisdom and guidance and decided at my age, I do not need to owe that much for aids that are already satisfactory. I know he has to make a living, but not at my expense!
When I came out of the examining room, a big, burly policeman was waiting and I wondered what he was doing there, especially when I saw he had an unmarked car in the parking lot.
I'm just nosy and curious.
It was very hot yesterday, so I went on to the Park, and enjoyed seeing the freshly mowed grass and the very full canal with one lone egret fishing for a tasty lunch. God is good!
From the Promise Bible NLT:
Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us
from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't
and the demons can't. Our fears for today and our worries
about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep
God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in
the deepest ocean, nothing in creation will ever be able
to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
I always give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers with thanksgiving,
joy and love!
